Re: [Emc-users] Realtime system did not load
Thanks to all of you ! Probably someone is interested in the solution - maybe it can help another guy searching. System C did not boot because of a defect built in card reader After removing it the behavior was again as system B. System B and C did not run emc2 because of installed TV-Cards !!! After removing the cards everything is working properly. In my case even with AHCI, all usb, all bluetooth and big memory !!! Just to mention it; system A is working with the TV-card installed !!! And emc2+dapper did (and still does) work on all systems !!! Conclusion: System C said '[ 97.248014] usb 7-1: device not accepting address 4, error -110' The card reader was connected to the 7th usb port on the mainbord ! It was definitely a trial and error for me and it seems that (beside the above usb error message) it's not possible to say if a specific configuration is running or not. Thanks again and bye for now !!! mario - This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ ___ Emc-users mailing list Emc-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/emc-users
Re: [Emc-users] Realtime system did not load
Hello there, thanks to all of you responding. Booting and running emc2 from the emc2+hardy live CD even works on my laptop. To be sure having the very latest release I also burnt a new CD - it's all the same. I necessarily have to mention, that the (very) old Live CD (I burnt it some two years ago) with emc2+dapper works on all Systems, even with plenty of memory and AHCI !!! System B: Thats the one I'm actually using to drive my mill and lathe. Emc2 with ubuntu 6 is installed on the hard disk of this machine. And the old live CD is working perfectly. This machine has 2 GB of memory, plenty of usb ports and bluetooth but no ahci. I'm even running a touchscreen on this machine. Trying to start emc2 from the new live CD (after booting from it) ends up with the attached error output. In this case I started with mem=900M. After the error the PS/2 connected keyboard is no longer working and the screen turns black after clicking shutdown. But the system won't shut down. Keyboard is not responding. The only way to switch off is - you guessed - the power button. I will turn off audio and all the usb support in the bios - whenever I got time. Didn't find any Bios entry for Bluetooth. System C: That's the system I'm writing now. I disconnected all the internal and external drives (HDD) to be sure to get the right kernel loaded (I have Solaris on this machine as well). I reconfigured the bios completely - ide, no usb at all, no audio. Connected PS/2 keyboard and mouse, threw the CD into the drive, started up and no system on disk (not sure if the error reads exactly that)!! During startup the bios says USBCDROM loaded - although the device (DVD-RW) is physically ide Connected. Well I turned on usb support but disabled usb keyboard and mouse support (I should mention that there is no usb device plugged into the (built-in) hub connectors. Same story - no system on disk !!! At least I had to enable either one usb keybord or mouse support to boot away. Unfortunately fun isn't over now: During startup of ubuntu I Select language and 'Try ubuntu without any change to your computer'. 'Loading Linux Kernel' is displayed and the progress goes to 100%. The ubuntu logo appears and the progress indicator sweeps. Suddenly the screen is erased and displays: BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu12) Built in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands (initramfs) [ 86.721556] usb 7-1: device not accepting address 3, error -110 [ 97.248014] usb 7-1: device not accepting address 4, error -110 [ 107.774472] usb 7-1: device not accepting address 5, error -110 How can I figure out what usb 7-1 is ? Probably I got a HW defect there - although right now 5 usb devices are plugged in (the machine got 6 built-in connectors) and working perfectly. Tried an usb stick on the 6th right now - is working as well. Again - Live CD emc2+dapper is working on this machine (I have to select 'save graphics mode') I don't know . ? thanks mario -Ursprüngliche Nachricht- Von: robert [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Gesendet: Dienstag, 28. (found that one out hard way lol), if sata deivce u should be able to put it into IDE mode also over sata mode, check your bios manual maybe its worth going into the PC bios and turning off things u dont need/bug find, like USB, bluetoof (if onboard) sound card, etc etc u ntill u find the problem is fixed then turn back on things u def need, USB for pen drive etc. rob > > > - > This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge > Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes > Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world > http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ > ___ > Emc-users mailing list > Emc-users@lists.sourceforge.net > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/l

Hi Rob, thanks for your early reply. Things are getting odd. I'm just booting the actual live emc2 cd with ubuntu 8: System A works properly - ubuntu loads and emc2 is running. System B does load ubuntu but emc2 is failing: I tried the sequence of commands prior trying emc2 - see the attached document I also attached the whole error output from trying to run emc2 in this document Sorry, there is no blank line or space between the terminal output and the error output The error output starts on the very first page with 'Print file information:' After trying emc2 the keyboard does not work any longer and the system hangs during shutdown (power off necessary) System C - the behavior has changed - it now does not even load ubuntu (the only thing I'm aware of changing is installing OpenSolaris on this System) During startup of ubuntu I Select language and 'Try ubuntu without any change to your computer' 'Loading Linux Kernel' is displayed and the progress goes to 100% The ubunu logo appears and the progress indicator sweeps Suddenly the screen is erased and displays: BusyBox v1.1.3 (Debian 1:1.1.3-5ubuntu12) Built in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands (initramfs) [ 86.721556] usb 7-1: device not accepting address 3, error -110 [ 97.248014] usb 7-1: device not accepting address 4, error -110 [ 107.774472] usb 7-1: device not accepting address 5, error -110 After that the system hangs (power off necessary) Any idea ? Again - the machine working has no Bluetooth device ??? On the System C (when it was possible to load ubuntu) I tried to unload bluetooth with rmmod, but it didn't work (says 'in use') Even with sudo and -f (force) impossible. [Emc-users] EMC Live-CD - how to burn ?
Is there anywhere a description of how to burn the EMC Live CD ? - bootable ? what boot image ? - iso image as is, or the unzipped files ? The MD5 of the downloaded iso file is as posted on the website. Windows treats that file as a WinRAR archive. Whatever parameters I use to burn it, it just won't boot !! (while the W2K CD does) thanks mario- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML. No limits. Just data.
