As to the camera mount - how about a male/female pair of vee shaped dovetails say 10 degrees off vertical for each side. you could then just drop in the male part and it would taper lock to the same position by gravity every time, yet allow you to lift it off without fasteners so it stays clean while cutting. Also (hint hint) 30mm is a popular scope ring size, you could likely find some no name chi import ones in the sub $10 range that would work for you. Already thought of that, but don't have such a beast in my drawer of spares of various heights. Fixable the next time I visit McFly's I'd expect. Actually its probably closer to 29.5mm, but isn't that why they sell Reynolds Wrap? ;-) Mount rail a short piece of Pica-tinny rail, or std weaver if a flat base can be found. Wallies is closer but I don't recall seeing any 30mm stuff there, but haven't specifically checked either. I will next time I go out to get some of the daily pill intake that keeps me going. The taperlock dovetail doesn't have the overhead to allow disengagement, the so-called gear case is in the way. Thanks. The 30mm scope ring is probably the best idea of several I've had. Getting the head drilled tapped to hold the base exactly vertical might be a trick. But I'll figure out something. ;-) Cheers, Gene -- There are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty: soap, ballot, jury, and ammo. True as long as you only loosen one side, but the same can be said for the better Weaver style mounts that only have the loose shoe on one side, the other sides hook to the base is machined solid. The trick is to make sure they are on well aligned or one piece bases, install the rings and tighten, then the scope and top rings.
