[E-devel] Requirements for a mirror of anon CVS

2006-03-28 Thread Hawkwind
Since the new CVS is up and running, I was wondering if someone that
knows all of the exact requirements for a user like myself to run a
mirror of anon CVS could post those things for everyone to view and
see.

Things like what apps we would need our host to provide us with, if we
need root access, how much space it requires and those types of
things. I think this would be very beneficial for anyone like myself
who is thinking of possibly doing a mirror of CVS since I have plenty
of space and bandwidth on my webhosting package.

I know in the past when I've had problems and asked you on IRC or
posted my error here to the ML you were quick to respond and get it
fixed and working and uploaded a new version. We all need coders to
be like that, and we appreciate that kind of work :)

I have to totally agree with this. Just because a module is put into
CVS doesn't mean it shouldn't be spoken about or linked to on
get-e.org. I strongly believe that the more modules we show to have
that are actively maintained, the more users will want to try it. Yes
I know that since it's beta software, that's probably not the best
thing to do. But if I were to look at get-e.org and saw a list of the
available modules, whether built in or not, it would surely grab my
attention and make me curious.

[E-devel] Eloquence

2006-03-21 Thread Hawkwind
I've noticed that evolume was placed into CVS last night or the day
before and I was wondering what it would take for us to be able to get
eloquence into CVS as well ? phreidrich is the maintainer of
Eloquence and I think it would be a great addition to have in CVS
since quite a few users seem to use it, and it's actively maintained
and kept updated.

I know that there is a freeze on CVS until early next week while
everything gets moved and tested so it would be nice to see this
module put into CVS once everything is up and running on the new host.

[E-devel] Ebuntu - Based on E17

For those that don't know, I thought everyone would like to see read about this:

sub-projects and derivatives. Called Ebuntu, the new initiative is
designed for those users who enjoy the spectacular desktop effects of
the latest Enlightenment E17 window manager: "Ebuntu aims to provide
an enhanced and attractive user interface. The secondary aim of Ebuntu

[E-devel] evolume-0.18

2006-01-09 Thread Hawkwind
I've downloaded evolume-0.0.18 from get-e.org and from the authors
site and both versions give this when running a ./configure

config.status: error: cannot find input file: po/Makefile.in

Anyone know when this will be fixed ? Also, I was under the
impression that all modules on get-e.org had to use ./autogen.sh
instead of ./configure ? Why is evolume the only one that is
different and will this ever change ?

I hope 0.0.18 is fixed really soon, as it looks very promising indeed
with the new changes it has had to it.

[E-devel] Modules

2005-12-20 Thread Hawkwind
I've noticed in the recent days after an update that *Modules* is no
longer an option in the menu. I do realise that it is now part of the
Configuration Panel which is nice. However, it was so much easier to
be able to left click, go to modules and find your module and do
whatever you wanted. I have spoken to several other users and they
all tend to agree. I'm not asking that it be removed from the Config
Panel, and put back as was, but why not have it in both places ? A
lot of us would prefer to have it as a menu option as well as in the
Config Panel. Is there any chance of this option being put back into
place, as it was very user friendly and saved a few seconds of time
and was just easier to use IMO.

[E-devel] thinktux CVS mirror

2005-12-17 Thread Hawkwind
Greetings,

Over the last few days/weeks there has been several new things added
to E17 within CVS and it's come to our attention by those of us who
are using scripts written by users such as morlenxus that use the
thinktux CVS mirror that it's not the same as SF is. We have been
told that thinktux gets the updates, but it's not getting all of the
new directories added of new things being added into E itself on the
SF mirror. I'm kind confused as to what the point is of thinktux if
it's not exactly the same as SF. What this means is that some users
are getting *all* of E, and some aren't. How can users successfully
test things, use things, or report bugs or anything of that nature ?

The whole point to adding the thinktux CVS mirror was to help eliviate
some of the problems we were experiencing from SF at the time and to
provide us with a faster CVS mirror. This mirror was also to be kept
updated regularly, and possibly even faster than SF was to be updated
each day.

I personally switched my scripts and all of E over to thinktux
checkout and have been using it pretty much from day one. I've just
been told that I'm missing a ton of code since thinktux isn't adding
new directories. Again, I really don't understand why this road has
been taken, as it seems completely silly. IMO, both thinktux and SF
should be *exactly* the same. Everyone understands why it should be
so I won't go into the full details of that. I'm now having to edit
the script that morlenxus took quite a bit of time to write for us
that used thinktux to make it use SF again. This also means that I
have to move or delete my e17_cvs directory or things don't check out
correctly without a fresh directory. What a total pain in the ass I
see this as. If thinktux isn't going to mirror the SF server exactly,
then just simply do away it once and for all as it's about as useful
as tits on a boar hog IMO.

I really hope someone that's running this thinktux mirror sees this
and takes action immediately to give us the same exact stuff that SF
has so we don't have to go through all of this script editing,
moving/deleting directories, another full checkout and full recompile.
It's a lot of work for absolutely no reason what so ever.

[E-devel] PurLow theme

2005-11-08 Thread Hawkwind
Just wanted to let everyone know I have taken a stab at my very first
E17 theme. It's called PurLow, which is a combination of Purple and
Yellow. It's still a work in progress and there will be more updates
to this theme.

I posted a screenshot about it a few days ago on edevelop.org and got
pretty good feedback. With that feedback I've decided that I will be
making a few more themes. I hope everyone that uses the theme finds
it enjoyable. Any comments/suggestions are proudly welcomed to this
list, or back to me personally at this email address.

I'm hoping that vrln or morlenxus will get ahold of this theme either
from my website or me personally and post it on get-e.org with the
other themes. I would certainly be honored by all means. Below is
the URL for the theme, with a screenshot and a download link. Again,
enjoy!

[E-devel] Engage bug....

2005-08-06 Thread Hawkwind
It seems that if I enable engage and currently have the
Xchat-systray-plugin enabled, then disabling engage completely closes
Xchat.  This appears to happen with any application that is
running a systray-plugin and is docked in the engage systray.

I'm currently running up to date CVS version of e17 and enage on
