try not using external moduels (ie ones not provided by e itself - that means
monitor module, weather module etc.) and use top and so on in a terminal to see.

[e-users] cyrillic fonts

2005-08-26 Thread konovalov alexey

there's a difference in how the same fonts looks for different languages
look at that pict www.kakva.ru/alk/fonts1.png
I've tryed other fonts ... no success desktop in russian locale
looks ... unclear.

Is that a matter of imlib2, freetype or just lack of proper fonts?

best regards

This is correct. Entrance will automatically create a user file for youwhen you log in for the first time.
Yep.. that's the idea I had. However, my Entrance does not allow me
that.Only users in entrance_config.cfg are allowed to login. From here
arose my doubt. Maybe a new policy of new version.. or maybe when you
have users in config file, no unknown users are allowed...

hmmm... does this look like something new for anybody?
i don't think so, just a few apps got better (fixing 200 bugs in
nautilus, replacing gpdf with some new viewer, preview of pdf files
(c'mon, that's why filenames exist...))

or things like this:
Nautilus is now more tightly integrated with the multimedia tasks you
want to do. In addition to the thumbnailing of video and previewing of
audio in past releases, Nautilus now offers drag and drop capabilities
from audio CDs and the ability to play a track simply by double clicking.
hell, the ability to play a track simply by double clicking (wtf are
they trying to say us, that they finally managed to link a mime-type to
an application after 10 years of development..?)
man, this whole site sounds like installing windows xp, so what do you
wanna discuss??

Eclair does not show video though it plays it. When the video window

Somehow i thought i already tested this, but doesn't seems so.
Anyway, if i change it back to 1s the CPU doesn't jump to 100%. That's good!
I also just made a
enlightenment_remote -module-disable monitor
enlightenment_remote -module-enable monitor
And it also doesn't stress the CPU anymore, after the Reload. (It remembered
the 1s Setting for Wireless)
Fine, it was good that you asked! :)

[e-users] weather module proxy

2005-08-26 Thread Matias Grana
I switched to Gentoo a couple of months ago, and decided to try e17
following
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_emerge_e17
It was very simple and fast!!
And impressing!! Last time I'd tried e17 it was nice, but now it rocks!
Guess tough work on EFL is now giving fruits really fast.

Now I'm trying to set a few things. One of them is the weather module.
I've read it can use proxies now, but I couldn't figure out how to set
them. Tried the archives of this list, with no luck. Any help on this?

Thanks,
Matías

Hi,

You need to set env and particulary $http_proxy or $HTTP_PROXY (both
work, first is prefered).

[e-users] Really SLOW Entrance

2005-08-26 Thread Alejandro Salas
Hello everyone,

I installed Entrance a while ago. In order to start
entrance at boot I had renamed the entrance script in
/etc/init.d/ to the one from my old manager (xdm). I
really didn't like that method, so after some reading
I did "update-rc.d entrance start 99 2 3 4 5 . stop 01
0 1 6 ." and changed the file
/etc/X11/default-display-manager to
"/usr/local/sbin/entranced". Well, my problem is that
after doing that and recompiling entrance with the
line "#define X_SERVER "/usr/bin/X11/X -quiet -dpi 100
-nolisten tcp" in Entranced.h, the whole app has
become really slow.

Is it the -dpi 100 option in Entranced.h??
Any ideas?
