try update from cvs - i think i was a bit over-zealous in my stringshare
adaption. i reverted the changes and valgrind is happy now and i see no segv's.

[e-users] Trying to change theme causes segmentation fault

2005-11-29 Thread Brent Reynders

If I left click and then scroll to themes I immediatetely
get a segmentation fault when mouse is hovered over themes. Now if I remove my
themes except for the default theme I can browse the themes which would only
have the original e17 theme. I don’t have any debug messages at the
moment but any help would be appreciated. I am using the slackware e17 build
dated November 23, 2005 on slackware 10.2 from sourceforge. Is there a way to
manually change my themes?

Re: [e-users] e17 subpixel smoothing?

2005-11-29 Thread Martin Klaffenboeck
I see. I think the reason is that evince does not start this subpixle
smooting like it would be started when I start my gnome session. But it
seems not to be the gnome-settings-daemon, which startes the gtk themes
to be applied. When I start gnome-font-properties before I start maybe
acroread or evince, the fonts seem to be great, if i dont start the
prperties dialog, it is bad. Maybe I can figure out how to start the
subpixle smoothing without starting the configuration app for that.

Thanks,
Martin

Maybe the reason is because I have an very bad lcd notebook display, I
don't know.

You're not. I recently moved to evince and absolutely love it as a
pdf reader. However, text selection by dragging your mouse makes the
app crash. But it scales the file really well when you resize the
window. With large files full of images, however, it tends to be
really slow but i think that's less of evince's problems and more an
issue with the underlying library it uses to render the pdf (can't
remember it's name but xpdf uses it).

Right now (update today), eloquence doesn't work anymore: it makes E17
segfault :( . What is exactly needed for eloquence? I mean, which libs?
Maybe if i recompile them manually it'll be ok...

Maybe it's only a problem of antialiasing... I had some trouble recently
with fonts; i even had to try the cvs of gtk (1), supporting
antialiasing... Now everything's ok; what happens inside your apps don't
concern e17, because e17 is merely a decoration (from the point of the

no it doesnt support it as it's a pain in the arse to do well and i find
produces worse results in general ANd relies on advance knowledge of RGB
ordering and assumptins on RGB separate side-by-side cells. what apps do is
their business. e only draws the stuff outside of the app windows (titlebars,
root menu, borders, launcher bar etc.) what is drawn WITHIN an app window is
the job of the app and toolkit, not e.

Re: [e-users] gtk apps fonts too big (no gnome)

2005-11-29 Thread miguel maldonado
Hi;

you don't need to have gnome intalled to config your fonts sizes for the gtk
apps, you config the fonts in your default gtkrc file with a line like

gtk-font-name = "Bitstream Vera Sans 10"

before the include for your theme, i do slackware, my gtkrc file is in

/usr/share/themes/Default/gtk-2.0/gtkrc

and it looks like this

#
# This theme is the default theme if no other theme is selected.
#
gtk-font-name = "Bitstream Vera Sans 10"
include "/home/maldo/.themes/E17-GTK/gtk-2.0/gtkrc"

you can put your themes in your .themes folder on your home.

for firefox, mozilla and some others you can change all fonts in your home
folder .mozilla its a folder call chrome it contents are some style pages,
you need to create a file userChrome.css follow the instruccions in
userChromeexample.css, you can change menu fonts, popup

hope that help.
maldo

sky is the limit, is it?
