There is no need; the repository files shipped by EPEL point to mirrormanager, which will direct users to the proper location. Of course, the set of potential mirrors will be smaller as there are fewer sites which mirror the archive. It will be interesting to see if this appreciably increases traffic to my mirrors. - J< ___ epel-devel mailing list -- epel-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to epel-devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org

Well the archive will be live in /pub/archive/epel/5. Repoclosure and similar tools should work there just like the people getting EPEL-4 are doing (all 20 of them) or Fedora 8 (all several thousand of them). They should be able to get packages and such but no updates will happen in those trees. > understanding that people SHOULD move on, some cannot -- I hit > a strange perl issue earlier just today with C7 on code that > works fine under C5, in my 'backoffice' behind the firewall > > -- Russ herrold > ___ > epel-devel mailing list -- epel-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org > To unsubscribe send an email to epel-devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org -- Stephen J Smoogen. ___ epel-devel mailing list -- epel-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to epel-devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org
[EPEL-devel] END OF LIFE FOR EPEL-5 (2017-03-31)
On March 31, 2017, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 will move out of "Production Phase 3". At this point various rebuilds will be ending support for EL-5 and EPEL will be archiving EPEL-5. What this means is the following: 1. EPEL-5 (/pub/epel/5/, /pub/epel/testing/5/) will be copied to /pub/archive/epel/5. 2. Mirrors that mirror archives will pick up EPEL-5 in it new location. 3. Mirrormanager will point to those location as the canonical places. 4. Koji will be set to no compose for EPEL-5. This effectively stops builds from getting 'pushed' to the trees. 5. The data in /pub/epel/5 and /pub/epel/testing/5/ will be removed and will disappear from mirrors. Because 2017-03-31 is a Friday, these changes will occur during the next week. -- Stephen J Smoogen. ___ epel-devel mailing list -- epel-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to epel-devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org
