[etherlab-users] e1000e driver freeze on kernel 4.9.80 rtai 5.1

2018-09-23 Thread Gianluca Medini
Hi all, I've tested the driver e1000e on rtai 5.1 kernel 4.9.80.
I'm using Gavin Lambert unofficial patches set that includes patched
drivers for 4.9.80.
The system freezes randomly after some minutes.
The Igb driver on same configuration works perfectly.

Someone have experienced the same issue?

Re: [etherlab-users] Which version of kernel and RTAI should I use?

2018-09-23 Thread Sebastien BLANCHET

Hi,

For a first try, I strongly suggest to use PREEMPT RT instead of RTAI
for a hassle free experience. When you gain more experience, you can
switch easily back to RTAI.

EtherCAT Master 1.5.2 works perfectly with Debian 7 PREEMPT RT kernel
(Linux 3.2)

If you want to use a more recent kernel, like 4.9 PREEMPT RT kernel from
Debian 9, you have to download a more recent version of EtherCAT Master
from the Mercurial repository.

Hello everyone,

I have recently decided to try EtherLab and I intend to use it on RTAI,
with a Realtek (either 8139 or 8169) network card. I'm using an ordinary
Intel CPU.

I'm not sure about the best combination of EtherLab, kernel and RTAI. My
only constraint is for the installation process to be as hassle free as
possible. I would appreciate sharing your experience with me.

Thanks in advance.
