[Evangelism] Plone sign

2010-08-22 Thread Virginia Choy
Hi!

We're exhibiting under the Plone banner at the Asia Pacific Open source
conference in 3 weeks. Does any one have art work for a Plone sign that we
can take to a printer? Or is there any other advice from those who have
exhibited already at conferences?

Thanks Virginia.

2009-12-08 Thread Virginia Choy
Hi,

Does anyone have any documentation about total cost of ownership or general
cost comparisons between deploying Plone, Sharepoint, Teamsite,, RedDot or
any other proprietary enterprise solution?

Thanks Virginia

2009-07-13 Thread Virginia Choy
Hi Roberto,

Wednesday is a good day in Australia for such events. I think April is fine,
it would be good to keep the same month each year.

Thanks for organising this!

Hi Roberto, I could help you with the English press release, if you'd like,
and have an idea of what you want to have stated. Also, if I'm not mistaken,
this past year the World Plone Day competed with Earth Day for April
22nd.  I'd recommend against doing that again next year, unless others
think that 'piggy-backing' on Earth Day might have given us any advantage.
Once again, nice job getting this idea launched and building upon its
success each year! Ken Wasetis

Hello I'm writing in order to move forward two issues of WPD. Then first
one is the postmortem document, the second one is the 2010 edition date.
Postmortem document I need help from one or more volunteers to write a
news/press release of wpd2009. Based on the results and the last year one,
it could be a very easy task to do for anyone who has good skills writing in
english and it would be a huge contribution for the event. If you're
interested just contact me. WPD 2010 date We need to define a date for WPD
2010 edition. Last year this discussion was long and it is difficult to
reach consensus when we talk about a worldwide event, but probably we could
start it getting answer from 2 questions: - Shall we keep april as the month
for WPD ? - Shall we keep doing it in a weekday as Wednesday ? I suggest to
start wpd2010 planning with these points, once defined we can move forward
improving it and get into other important topics. Kind Regards r. --

Since there are people who prefer Friday, we could think in a World
Plone Week instead of a Day, that would give freedom to every host
to choose its date according to local preferences, target and so on.

Regarding your proposal and assuming there are no issue with the
week approach, there's a national day in Argentina during that dates
unfortunately, so i would prefer the previous one, April 20th to 26th.

2008-09-29 Thread Virginia Choy
Hi,

World Plone day I thought means the entire world. So I don’t think only
including Europe and America is appropriate, in fact that is exclusive. This
negates the objective of the event, which is to expand the use of Plone
globally.

It'd be better that other continents take turns in the future events.

Thanks for those who make contributes.

RE: [Evangelism] WPD Logo

2008-09-24 Thread Virginia Choy
Hi All,

I hardly think selling to the State Government of NSW and Federal Government
of Australia are corporate bums. Government in Australia are very
conservative and are accustomed to dealing with large software corporations.
So yes to compete and bring the benefits of open source to Government, Plone
will need become more corporate in its appeal. If this doesn’t happen I fear
Plone will not survive.

Chris, you must be in a very good finanical position where you can choose
your clients and "discount corporate bums".

[Evangelism] WPD Logo

2008-09-23 Thread Virginia Choy
Hi WPD participants,

I think the logo concept is good but in my opinion needs a more corporate
look. A lot of my business development efforts are targeted at Government
and Enterprises that need to be convinced that Plone is a viable option to
proprietary software corporations.

Cheers Virginia

RE: [Evangelism] Re: Plone Day

2008-04-14 Thread Virginia Choy
Hi Roberto,

I own a Plone integration business in Sydney and would be very keen to
participate in "Plone Day". Plone is not so well known in Australia so this
would be a great opportunity to promote it.

Please let me know if you need any help in organising it. November is a good
time for us and we plan to attend the Plone conference so we'll meet you
then.

Regards Virginia
