Oxygen is orders of magnitude more abundant than carbon and constitutes 21%
of the gas in the atmosphere. Even if we burned all the oil and gas and
coal we would only reduce oxygen levels by 2 to 3%, not enough pose any
risk. The increase in CO2 is the problem. Why do you call something that
is based on sound theory and has made highly accurate predictions over at
least 50 years "pseudoscience"?

Fossil fuels have zero dinosaurs, they formed about 300 million years ago
and are constituted mainly of plants, bacteria and algae. Abiogenesis is
not a well supported theory.

Brent has previously answered the first part of your statement. How do
melting glaciers REDUCE the sea level??? What is the relevance of the
fact that 30% of the Earth's surface is land mass?

Nobody says we should dump petroleum overnight. We can gradually wean
ourselves. In theory all these chemicals can be manufactured from carbon
and hydrogen, but we will obviously still need fossil fuels to extract more
complex molecules.

Any science he or others like him they disagree with is a pseudoscience.

I am not exactly sure why the term pagan comes up over and over. A pagan is
really somebody from a nation that is not subject to monotheist religion.
Below is a definition of pagan from the Merriam-Webster dictionary. The
least anachronistic definition is #2 below. In the United States the number
of people who believe in God is 80%, which is down from 90% just a decade
ago. I do not see the world be overwhelmed by pagans.

2022-07-19 Thread Philip Benjamin
[Philip Benjamin]
Climatology is not only a pseudoscience (unlike meteorology), it is also
part of the fanatic pagan religion of WAMP-the-Ingrate. I have written to some
“authors” promoting this myth of CO2 as a global danger (completely ignoring
the greater danger of oxygen depletion of (2 atoms of O-16 for each atom of
C-12 introduced). Of course those “blasphemous” notes are never even
acknowledged.
This whole notion of “fossil” fuel is unsettled, yet. How many dinosaurs
and other species will be need to produce thes massive deposits of petroleum?
An abiotic origin is mandatory. The earth has enough carbonaceous matter,
nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, fire. Steam, sulfur, phosphorus etc. plus enormous
pressure and heat to keep on producing petroleum (without any bio mass).
If the earth survived at least 5000 years and 383 trillion tons of CO2, it
will continue after the paltry ~ 5.1 trillion tons of CO2 for 50 past years
and100 future years of petroleum burning, thanks primarily to Carbon Cycle, as
I have always stated. Moreover, the glaciers in the water will noi raise the
sea level after melting, it will only reduce the level !! Furthermore, only
about 30% of the earth surface is land mass.
  https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/8349/cold-and-snow. The climatic
snow line is about 15,000 ft above sea level at the equator. It is
progressively lower as the latitude increases, to just below 9,800 ft in the
Alps. The melting of mountain ice alone cannot dangerously raise the sea level;
for that very powerful forces (not by CO2 !!) will be required to bring up the
humongous subterranean water beds.
Destroy the petroleum industries, then even the battery industry will be
destroyed because some of the 6000 byproducts of petroleum are entail for
battery production also. This only infuriates WAMP-the-Ingrate. They have no
sense of humor, logic or rationality, or fairness. A bundle of madness !

The main issue is, AGW or not is simply that even though there is lots of
fossil fuels remaining, and expanding economy round the world will blow past
the fossil fuel supply in a few to several decades (Ignoring completely Climate
threats). We still need to move beyond oil, gas, coal, shale.

So what is the fix??? Ideas?? Has to work well, reliably, low maintenance, and
be able to provide tens to a few hundred trillion watts.

Going all futurist on this, Dirk, it may be a smart move to adjust to any
inundations by doing things like cities upon the sea (not so much under 3000
meter deep sea floor cities. Also build gravity flow water towers at sea to
create a hydroelectric pumped storage electricity supply for those on land.
We'd principally use wind turbines to do this, and why not combine sea cities
and water towers??

Also, for the entire 5,000 year period, a lot of carbon was trapped underground
in fossil fuels.  When we started burning fossil fuels at the start of the
industrial revolution the amount of additional CO2 overwhelmed the CO2 capture
capabilities of the planet and CO2 levels started to rise.
As a comparison.  The total annual precipitation is 505,000 cubic meters or 39
inches.  In 5,000 years that means 195,000 inches (or 3 miles) of accumulated
water.  That does not mean that the water level on Earth has risen by 3 miles,
because it is the same water that circulates over and over again.  But some of
that water is more or less permanently trapped as ice.  That ice is starting to
melt now and the sea levels are starting to rise because of atmospheric
warming.  If all ice caps and glaciers were to suddenly melt the water level
will rise about 70 meters.

No it's not.  Are you too dense to understand that an input of 383/5000=
77Gt/yr was in equilibrium with the natural sequestration process?  Can you not
grasp, that is why the CO2 level in the atmosphere was constant up until the

in the equilibrium CO2 concentration.

What you state IS valid JC, however like all good Republicans I will throw a
couple of curve balls to consider. 1. For whatever reason, the masses, the
Narod, are not in the streets demanding what Canada has. Mass Ignorance?
2. Our crime rates and murders effect the statistics. The Black community, the
mass intake of Chinese Fentanyl from across the border (deaths from overdoses),
unhealthy lifestyles Unlike the Nordic Kabouters in Holland do not partake
of.But instead, they are riding bikes, walking, boating, etc. The couch potato
is an American invention, not European.

3. Does illegal immigration skew the statistics? Maybe no, maybe yes. It then
becomes who gets statistically sampled?
My question would be what would be the best way to pay for a national medical
service? For this, I would seek out the estimates on the impact, from multiple
economists. Maybe our national life average would climb, but what if it
doesn't? Would we then disband a national medical service?
My question is what is the mission statement of a new national med service? The
measurable goal is.?

OK let me give you some facts, that can cut through all the internal
complications and just illustrates the inputs and the outputs:
The life expectancy of a person in the Netherlands in 2019 was 82.01 years.
The life expectancy of a person in the USA in 2019 was 78.79 years.
The per capita healthcare costs in the Netherlands in 2019 was $5,335.
The per capita healthcare costs in the USA in 2019 was $12,530.
Unless you deliberately avoid these facts because they go against your ideology

No.  It's a way of deflecting criticism saying "They do something bad
too."  A tactic beloved of those who think only in terms of "their team"
and debate.

We might through better engineering curtail much of this 6th extinction. For
me, I like the Snowball Earth  theory which indicated that at least 150 million
years before the Reptiles (not the Dinos) Earth was a cold ball in space
because of so much plankton spewing out oxygen after gobbling up CO2 in the
atmosphere that things sorta froze.

Below is an artist's depiction of life emerging from Snowball Earth. Yep! Its
all there. Coniferous plants (obviously ferns), the first deciduous flowering
plants, and, um, some cold guy.

That last time Earth face this was the end of the Permian. The Siberian flats,
a massive diatreme of volcanos poured lava into massive peat bogs or lignite
material and burned them. This resulted in a massive release of CO_2, which is
increasingly thought to be the cause of the Permian extinction. We human by
burning buried hydrocarbons and carbon are engineering much the same sort of
event. The carbon cycle is in some sort of homeostasis that is rapidly impacted
by a huge increase in CO_2. In fact we human are probably far more rapid than
the Siberian flats volcanos. There is a time delay of response. We may by our
activities be engineering the 6th mass extinction.

  The Earth didn't survive 5000yrs WITH 383e12 tons of CO2, because there's a
carbon cycle in which CO2 gets split and carbon gets sequestered in soil,
plants, and rocks.  And what the hell would "recorded history" have to do with
it.  Why not just multiply by 14 billion years if you just want a big number
completely irrelevant to CO2 in the atmosphere.  Here was the flow estimated in
2001.  The point is the system, however much vulcanism, was in equilibrium for
those 5000yr before the industrial revolution.

Law professor Khiara Bridges calls Sen. Josh Hawley's questions about
pregnancy 'transphobic'   Sen. Josh Hawley got into a heated exchange with a
Berkeley law professor about her use of the phrase “people with a capacity for
pregnancy” during a Senate hearing about abortion. “We can recognize that this
impacts women while also recognizing that it impacts other groups, those things
are not mutually exclusive, Sen. Hawley,” said Bridges, who was testifying as
an expert in race and reproductive rights. The senator then asked what she
believed was the “core of this right.”
