[Evolution-hackers] RFC 2445 libical
My original point: RFC 2445 states that the FREEBUSY times _should_ not must be in sorted order start, end. Evolution doesn't seem to sort but rather gives it back in creation order, any body got problems with that? Ok I looked through the code last night and came to the conclusion the best or right way to fix this is in libical. Question: will evolution use it's own libical, or are you going to use the new libical when it comes out? If you use and maintain your own version then we have to fix it there. Otherwise we have to talk to the people from the libical project, they may even have fixed the problem. I haven't looked at the cvs version. It can also be fixed in a not so clean way by creation the vfb calendar component and then extracting and removing the freebusy properties and putting them back in sorted order, will be a little slower :-). Or by rewriting some function and api's in pcs cal-backend-file to collect the properties in a sorted glist before putting them into the icalcomponent, not very clean but workable. Comments? Ronald PS. I will take a look at the cvs libical when I have time and let you know. ___ evolution-hackers maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution-hackers

lol ... what resolution are you running that makes those 6 lines so important? 1024x768 and sometimes at 1280x960. Not that it matters anyway, removal of headers from e-mail displaying is a feature in every mailer out there, good, and even bad ones. Well its not a feature of evolution, and its a mailer. So its obviuosly not in every mailer is it? I can't recall it being a feature of elm either. :-) That's a fallacy and you know it. Let's set back the corporate world to 10 corporations, all CEO's sign up one their accounts and say: This is the normal procedure. Then one gets up and says No it's not, there's one of us who doesn't, so, that's acceptable. Oh, by the way, that one is me We can have it two ways : Elm Evolution, standing proud. Evolution, Mozilla, Outlook, etc ... What if i don't even want to see any header ? Headers are already in the message browser, why should they be repeated redundantly in my message display, which, as the name would imply, is for *message* display ... ? Pretty much, apparently, every e-mail app author companies deem those 6 lines important, from Mozilla to Outlook, perhaps they are all wrong providing that basic feature to the user; i myself do not believe they are. whatever you reckon mate I just think the Mozilla guys and MS aren't wrong :). I don't think that's silly, or worthy of Whatever..., i could easily take the Well, we like it this way, so you'll just have to deal with it or the At this point we don't really have the time to do it. Re: [Evolution] RPMS for Palm m500 series
I've built a set of rpms for RH7.3 with Ximian (up to date) with a recent pilot-link package that supports the m500 and friends correctly over USB. The evolution package also supports LDAP (untested - and it uses the system dynamic LDAP libraries unlike the Ximian package) and SSL. All the evo functionality I use works OK - ie a large imap over SSL folder tree and SMTP to send). Packages are at ftp://ftp.exim.org/pub/evolution_with_newpalm/rpms/ Source packages are also available (at ../sources ) The pilot-link package is the RH rawhide 0.11.2 package updated for 0.11.3 The gnome-pilot gnome-pilot-conduits package is the Ximian RH73 one rebuilt for the new pilot-link (with as few other changes as I could get away with). The evolution package is the RH rawhide package, modified with the compile settings from the Ximian RH73 package. The RH package was used because it has fewer external build requirements than the Ximian one, specifically it does not need external static packages for db3 and openldap to build. The modifications made to the package build were:- - rehash paths and dependancies for mozilla 1.0.0 (was moz 1.0.1) since this is whats provided by Ximian - link the mozilla nss nspr libraries static (because ximian does not put these in a run time link path) (RH put them in /usr/lib, Ximian put them in /usr/lib/mozilla-1.0.0) - few deps changes because ximian and RH naming conventions are different. Much as I like the Ximian stuff, the evo RPM build is a mess since it requires that a lot of undocumented stuff is put on the build machine). Many thanks to frb (of ximian) who answered a number of dumb questions on IRC whilst I was building this. Re: [Evolution] LDAP Address Book Setup
I have to agree. ldap lookups work for me, but it's schetchy. The only real reason why I want to have an ldap source configured is because I'd like to have it autocomplete. Netscape 4.x/Mozilla/Netscape 6.x both do this from ldap sources very nicely. We don't use Exchange/Outlook here, but the look/feel features of Evo are much nicer than any other Gnome email client, so that's why I use it. With more than 4000 people here, and email addresses being [EMAIL PROTECTED] it's a big pain to have to memorize addresses. [Evolution] HELP: Newbie setup problem
Hi, Hoping someone has seen this before. I've just installed Evolution 1.0.8 with Connector 1.0.7 on a 2.4.7-10 Linux kernel (the file system started out as a Red Hat 7.2 install). I'm hoping that all these things are compatible. Evolution runs and I am able to view Pop mail accounts just fine. I have been trying now to set up an Exchange account. I have followed the same procedures as others in my company without success. The setup itself, of course, goes fine but when I actually try to connect to the server I get the following message. Error while 'Opening store exchange:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/;filter;ad_server=nts-dagon.omegaband.com;enable_ad': Could not connect to Evolution Exchange backend process:Permission denied The only thing that appears to be different from other people's machines that have had success is that I am using a later version of the kernel. I don't know if that could be the source of the problem or if something else could be wrong (I need to be using this particular version of the kernel for other reasons). Anybody have any idea what the issue might be? Thanks. - Miguel -- Miguel R. [Evolution] Spell checking in Evolution using wrong language
Hi, I'm currently running evolution-1.0.8-1.ximian.1.i386.rpm on RH 7.3 I have noticed (ok, my spelling is that rubbish, that someone else pointed it out) that all my spelling corrections are in American, when they should be in English or British ( I reside in the united kingdom). The environment variable $LANG = en_GB.UTF.8 and on individual mails the properties are listed as 'en' for the spelling. The OS was installed English/British (not sure what the installer asks for, but its one of those two) After some reading of man pages and web searching , I have found that gnome-spell (which evo uses) uses aspell for it checking. So as a test I ran aspell (manually from the command line) on some words that I know have been spell checked as American and it corrects them correctly and only offers British suggestions. Is there a way that I can override evo at all? Re: [Evolution] Can Evolution send attachments that are notdisplayed in the sent-folder?
A lot of virus software works merely on signatures (e.g. checksums) of the content or pattern matches, rather than a full content check. Perhaps the message is just misleading and the software is dumb? As far as i can rmemeber, the message in 'sent' should be what was actually sent. something to do with camel perhaps? [Evolution] Evolution and SSL smtp servers
Hi! Should I report this un Evo's Bugzilla site, or is reporting it here sufficient? Two mail clients, Mozilla 1.0rc3 and Evolution 1.0.8-99. Mozilla does everything perfectly, Evo doesn't. I want to have all service traffic on the inside of my firewall run over TLS where possible. So I use ldaps, pop3s, ssh etc. for those services that need it. I check what does in fact happen with the service's (openldap, Exim etc) debug tools and with Ethereal 0.8.20 Evo can cope with pop3s on the standard port (995). But it makes a complete mess of smtps (without authentication) on port 465. It's supposed to give an ehlo me and when it sees STARTTLS, it's supposed to do STARTTLS, after which the certificate exchange and the rest of the smtp stuff happens. Mozilla does this. Evo sends F and 3 escaped octets and the rfc-compliant mail server (Exim 4.10) hangs with a 500 syntax error and eventally times out. Useless, obviously. Who should deal with this? Best, Tony -- Tony Earnshaw The usefulness of RTFM is vastly overrated. e-post: [EMAIL PROTECTED] www:http://www.billy.demon.nl gpg public key: http://www.billy.demon.nl/tonni.armor Telefoon: (+31) (0)172 530428 Mobiel: (+31) (0)6 51153356 GPG Fingerprint = 3924 6BF8 A755 DE1A 4AD6 FA2B F7D7 6051 3BE7 B981 3BE7B981 ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution
