With 1.0.8 it's rather acceptable: you just have to restart Evolution to get it to rescan properly the mailboxes. But 1.1.1 seems really unable to connect concurrently to 1.0.8 (didn't try two 1.1.1 instances together: I need at least one computer with a working mailer). Maybe it's Cyrus imapd's fault, but I already had to migrate from uw-imapd because Evolution didn't like the latter; then which imapd suits Evolution's need ? I ran into a lot of connection problems if I accidentally ran two copies of Evo, on different machines, connecting to the same IMAP store. They would alternately get 'connection lost' errors. This was before I switched from uw-imap to courier-imap. uw-imap with large mailboxes was unacceptably slow. [Evolution] default mail address
Greetings, I'm new to evolution so please be kind. Is there a way to setup a default mail domain address within Evolution? This way all I need to type in is the login name of the user I'm sending e-mail to. Once I hit the tab key, then the default mail domain would be added to the login name automatically. Right now I've been typing in the full dns qualified address. But other mail clients like Eudora, Mulberry, etc support a default mail address. In mulberry, the field is called "Default domain for outgoing mail". Any ideas? Thanks. Mark ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution

My message list only scrolls half a page when I click the left mouse button in the scrolling area. It scrolls by a full page when I hit page up or page down on the keyboard - unfortunately it also changes the message you've selected. In Evo 1.2 beta, the Tools menu has entries to start the Palm and Palm conduits settings capplet. Does that work? It might be a good idea to install Ximian Gnome on top of RH 8--in RH 7.3 this was recommended in the release notes, since the RPMs from RH and those from Ximian didn't quite work together. -R -- Richard Zach .. http://www.ucalgary.ca/~rzach/ Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy University of Calgary, Calgary, AB T2N 1N4, Canada ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution
[Evolution] Category search with LDAP
Hello all! We have an (Open)LDAP repository with our enterprise-wide contact information stored in it. We did this from the ground up with Evolution in mind as it handles editting the records. After converting our contacts from Outlook 97 to LDIF and loading them into the repository as evolution-person's, we cannot search using the Categories field. I have enabled substring indexes, etc, on the LDAP back-end, and rebuilt said indexes. Performing a query using ldap-search produces the required results. As it pans out, this was a pointless step... After enabling the LDAP debugging, I looked at the traffic between evolution and the db. It appears that evolution does its own matching on the records it has retrieved (which is a piddly 100), rather than querying the db. So, to make a short story long, why can't we get the Categories to work with LDAP? Has anyone out there managed to sort out categories with LDAP? I'm one step short of rearranging the repository into smaller OU's, one for each category. This seems like a stupid idea, given that Evolution should handle it. -Greg ___ evolution maillist - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution

Re: [Evolution] Category search with LDAP
Category searching was effectively broken until the 1.2 betas, as we stored it as a single, comma delimited string (much like the file backend does) which rendered it unsearchable using an ldap query. The "categories" attribute in the evolutionPerson schema has been deprecated in favor of the new "category" attribute, which is multivalued. So, in the old way you'd have something like: categories: Birthday,Competition and now: category: Birthday category: Competition which makes it possible to search using ldap.
