[Evolution] Global Address List search criteria

2007-05-17 Thread Diego Cimarosa
Hello all,

after some troubles to setup Global Address List on Exchange Server
(resolved turning off the Exchange Operation plug-in and simple
entering in Global Address Book/Active Directory the name of our ldap
server)
now I get TOO MANY results ...

Our University has more than 120.000 active students, 5000 employee and
more than 250.000 dead students, so, name starts with or email starts
with are impracticable.

I can't figure out to filter in advanced search criteria.

Should I use ldap syntax, regexp syntax or what else ?

Something like ((givenName=Diego)(surName=Cimarosa)) produces no
results.

I'd like filtering for Job, Department and so on ..

No help from Google and evolution26.pdf manual ...

Any suggestions and examples ?

Thanks in advance,

Diego

Ciao!

Maybe this will make some sense to you. I saved the images to my
desktop and gtried every graphics program I had to open them but all
 failed.
This reminds me of a problem I've had with images in a PowerPoint
presentation my wife prepared on her iBook. They worked fine for her but
wouldn't open in PowerPoint on M$ and wouldn't open in OO.o Impress. I
don't remember the details but learned them by googling. Turns out that
Mac uses some proprietary method to save images taken from the Web
(something from Adobe, I think) which Windows and Linux don't seem to
support. The problem was solved by having her explicitly save the images
to a different format (.jpg, I think).

(Do the images behave OK for you if you download them directly from the
site you mention above?)

Weird! Evolution can open as can Opera (when I go to the above web
 page) but I can't forward.

Better is in the eye of the beholder :-) If you only want email (and
not groupware functions like shared calendars and scheduling) there are
lots of email clients on Linux. If you care about high flexibility at
the cost of a text-only interface, try Mutt. If you want something
cross-platform (i.e. user portability) I've found Thunderbird to be a
good option -- the spam control is particularly good IMHO. If you don't
need Exchange compatibility, Kmail is good, especially with KDE, and you
can get some groupware functions via Kontact. And so on.

From what I've seen, evo doesn't forward attachments. The only way I
was able to get it to do so was to Message - Forward As - Redirect,
save as draft, edit, change source address to me (instead of the
 original person), and send.

I think there is 2 kinds of embedded images in HTML mails. One is truly
embedded (uu-encoded into the mail body, not attached) and the other is
just a link to some image at some http link (img tag in html).
Can you (original author) determine which one of the two it is.

[Evolution] Separate evolution applications possible on one computer?

2007-05-17 Thread Dinbandhu
Sent this a couple days ago but got no reply. Please if someone can help
I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Hello all,
I've just set up Ubuntu 7.04 on my laptop and started using evolution.

Two quick questions:

1. I live in a rural area that still only has dial-up modem access. I
sometimes need to dial up from one or another account, and so like to
have three different dialer icons set up on my desktop, one for each
account. Is this possible with Gnome PPP? If so, how do you do it?

2. Is it possible to keep separate evolution applications for each
e-mail account? That is, to open a separate evolution program with a
separate in-box for each e-mail account? With all separate folders for
each e-mail account? Or does one have to receive mail from all one's
various e-mail accounts into the same in-box, in the same application?
For example, can one have 4 different versions of evolution open at the
same time, each dealing with a separate e-mail account?

Thanks,
John

Have you looked into the Location sorting option? In your message
summary, right click on one of the headers and choose Add a Column and
then drag the Location box up to the message view header.

You can probably use this same criteria to create virtual folders or
sort into real folders.

Personally, I prefer the unified INBOX view of all my IMAP accounts
(via vFolders). :-)

Wrong list. I suggest you write to gnome-users or whatever is
appropriate for the dial-up application you are using.

I'm not in a position to answer your question directly. However, I'll
tell you what I do to handle a similar case.

I keep two different inbox mailboxes; one for personal and the other for
corporate mail. I've created a mail filter based on the origin account
with an action that moves all e-mail coming from that account to a given
folder I created. You could add one such rule for each of your 4
accounts (or you can use 3 and leave one as the default).

I was hoping to hear opinions from others as well, but from my personal
experience, it seems people here are shy when it comes to share
information about their workflows.

Cheers,

Yes

Last week after a update of some sort it started crashing every time, since
I am just getting back into running Linux and I am running 6.93 or there
abouts I figured it has something I did or due to it being beta and so close
to the release of 7.0 I have not worried about it.

Appears that my pkgtool has lost its database so I can't add or remove
software anymore. Bad Day all around for me. :-)

Hi every body,

I had a question about Evolution's calendars. Is it possible to make

Of course I know everything is possible by hacking the code, but I'm looking

To be specific, I want to use Persian (Jalali) calendar on Evolution.

Thanks a lot
