[Evolution] Mass import of caldav calendars

2014-08-02 Thread Alexander Innes
Morning all hope everyone is good,

Is it possible to import all the calendars from a server using caldav? I
can add one at a time and it finds the calendar on the server and can add
this one at a time which is great, But is it possible to add all the
calendar entrys from the server at once? (If that makes sense?)

I have had a quick look around the mailing list (reading thorough 2013 now)
and install/FAQ So sorry if this is a common question with a quick answer
ive missed!

Thanks

Re: [Evolution] line wrap in html preview

2014-08-02 Thread somearchlinuxuser
I used Evolution version 3.12.3 on a 64-bit Arch Linux distro.

I have the same problem. I did my best to find a solution on Google, and
good descriptions are around as early as 2008:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1766170 In that post title, it
has the word solved, except that it is not, it is the same.

Let me give me my own example. I get a message from somebody, and from the
headers of that message, it is formatted in text mode:

Accept-Language: en-US, en-GB
Content-Language: en-US
X-MS-Has-Attach:
X-MS-TNEF-Correlator:
acceptlanguage: en-US, en-GB
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

When I reply to this, a reply compose window opens, but the quoted text
of the sender now does not line wrap and goes on far beyond the right
border.

It happens no matter whether I compose my messages in plain text or HTML
mode (as I tried by switching in the preferences dialog).

This problem happens frequently to me, so I assume it happens to many users
as well. It really breaks my flow of working considerably, and really makes
me consider an alternative solution (but I think evolution is otherwise
really good).

Thanks for suggestions/solutions!!!

[Evolution] Editing a contact closes Evolution

2014-08-02 Thread Joe Messing
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Evolution 3.2.3

When I try to edit an email address in an existing contact, After
hitting close, Evolution goes dark and shuts down. When I reopen
Evolution to the contact I tried to edit, the only change is to 'FILE
AS', It puts last name first, first name last, but did not make the
editing changes to the email address I attempted. Any suggestions on a
fix ?

Re: [Evolution] Evolution 3.13.3

2014-08-02 Thread cigtoxdoc
I too am using 3.13.3 under Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit running on a DELL Vostro 3500
with 8 GB ram. Only problems so far is that sending HTML e-mails of several
paragraphs sometimes results in slow send with excessive CPU usage (Intel
i5 with 4 CPUs).

One annoying feature is the spell check. Right clicking the misspelled word
often will not bring up the correct spelling, and there seems no way to add
words to the dictionary.

[Evolution] Evolution reminders stopped showing up before appointment.

2014-08-02 Thread Juan R. de Silva
For last 3-4 months Evolution stopped showing up customized reminders the
way I used to have them for 7 years. E.g. a reminder is set to be shown
up 2 days before start of the appointment and to be repeated 6 times
every 8 hours.

No single reminder pops up out of all requested before the appointment.
Instead all 6 reminders show up at the actual day of the appointment as
soon as a system started.

I experience the same behaviour in Debian Wheezy - Evolution v. 3.4.4, in
Ubuntu 14.04 and Xubuntu 14.04 - Evolution v. 3.10.4.

The problem is very frustrating and forces me to look for Evolution
replacement. The last is the most hated idea, since I like Evolution and
get used to it. Besides the nightmare of migrating of all my personal
data to a new PIM.

I kept googling practically in vain all this time, asked on Debian list
with a complete silence in response.

Any idea anyone, please?

Go into GNOME Control Center and into the Notifications prefs pane.

[Evolution] [EWS] Offline mode in set in EWS Mail

2014-08-02 Thread Emilio Recio
I am having a problem that I am completely locked out of my mail account -
calendar, contacts, tasks, memo, even other IMAP accounts work fine. But EWS
mail keeps saying: You must be working online to complete this operation

I also cannot just delete and recreate my account. I am running Evolution
3.12.2. I have tried to delete ALL the configuration files and still I get the
same problem. Oddly enough when I re-create the account it does download all my
folders, but when I try to select a folder I get an error.

Also, I totally logged out, created a new user on my computer, and configured
evolution, and got the same error. Currently OWA is the only way I can
send/receive emails.

I also tried to start evolution with --online --force-online

thanks,
emilio

Hi :)

For demonstration I wrote endless lines.

If you mark the endless line or lines and after that switch from Normal to
Performatted (perhaps it already shows Performatted) and back to Normal,
the line will get wrapped.
Take a look at the selection box left beside the Plain Text/HTML selection

It looks like you're creating a rule but not applying it. Filter rules
are applied only on new messages, or when you explicitly invoke them
using Message-Apply Filters (Ctrl-Y).

If you want to simply search without creating a rule, use the Search box
at the top of the message list.

Before debugging, test what happens if you move or delete the cache.

First try

$ mv ~/.cache/evolution ~/.cache/evolution.BAK

and perhaps try

$ mv ~/.cache/ ~/.cache.BAK

PS: IIRC here was such an issue a few years ago. I'm an Arch user, but
sometimes I try to help newbies with real-time audio and caring about
Ubuntu Studio seems to be a good way to help novices. There was a GNOME

What he does *should* work (and it works for me with a local account).
Thanks for your detailed steps, Emilio. Although you should have
mentioned what happened. I will assume that you got an empty search
result.

I suspect the problem is at Exchange side. I think that evolution will
just ask Exchange for messages with a in the body and that your Exchange
is returning no answers. Most indexing engines have a minimum search
length (eg. index only words of three letters or more) in order not to
fill their index with lots of uninteresting stuff.
Exchange is likely to have that, too. (Maybe there's also a
configuration option to change that value) Does your search work if you
use a longer word? (eg. evolution)

Perhaps the OP isn't patient enough. Evolution's search folders search
is very slow and even after it's finished Updating folder and
Retrieving message could take hours on a 2.1 GHz dual-core, 4 GiB RAM
machine. There are indeed MUAs doing the same in a few seconds.
