Is the evolution-rss plugin enabled in Edit->Plugins? When you run evolution from a terminal, it should print either: RSS Plugin enabled (evolution x.y.z, evolution-rss a.b.c) or Plugin disabled on the console. Check also ~/.cache/evolution/rss/. Does that directory exist? Can you write to it? Maybe delete it, then run Evolution again. The plugin will recreate it, if the plugin is enabled. Ideally install debuginfo packages for the evolution, evolution-data-server and evolution-rss, then run evolution from a terminal like this: $ gdb evolution --ex r --ex "bt" --ex "t a a bt" --ex q and then reproduce the crash. The window will not close, it'll stop responding when the gdb prompt appears. You should copy several lines above the place where the gdb showed the prompt (it can show the reason of the crash), then everything below it. The command prints the backtrace of the crash, then backtrace for all threads, then it quits (should be confirmed by you). That will help to identify the place of the crash. Hi, by any chance, did ABRT give you any bug reference, or a FAF link, or anything, thus it could be checked how much the crash is known and whether it can be (or already is) fixed, please? I didn't find an ABRT report from you for Fedora 23, thus I'm asking. However if the fault was reported automatically, you can use one of the abrt tools (man -k abrt) to see what it said, e.g. "abrt-cli ls". poc ___ evolution-list mailing list evolution-list@gnome.org To change your list options or unsubscribe, visit ... https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list

Re: [Evolution] Crash while inserting image whith hyperlink
Since switching to evolution almost two years ago, I have found various quirks when attaching files, editing messages, receiving image-laden e-mail, and sometimes even when sending messages with attachments. Many of these problems have gone away since I have upgraded to 3.16.0 from earlier versions including 3.10.4. One thing that does help is shutting down evolution, and deleting the http folder from /.cache/evolution , and then restarting evolution. This cache can get quite large if you get much e-mail with images in them. john -Original Message- From: Vladimir Utratenko vutrate...@gmail.com To: evolution-list@gnome.org Subject: [Evolution] Crash while inserting image whith hyperlink Date: Mon, 20 Jul 2015 09:20:08 +0300 Hi all, There is something wrong with Evolution 3.10.4. The issues do change, Of course they change; releases done to include changes. at the moment it's annoying for me that Evolution crashes when I try to sort by subject. Something in your distributions is *seriously* broken. That is not Evolution. I have not seen Evolution crash for a very long time; and I *use* it every single day for 8+ hours. I'm serious and not trolling. What distro does provide a stable Evolution? openSUSE. At least it is entirely stable for me, on my hardware. It's in the mail header, but FWIW, the version is 3.10.2 on a 64-bit up to date Arch Linux, IOW every dependency should be the current stable release from upstream. I don't remember when the issue started, but it seems to be one of the issues that appeared after upgrading other software, IOW seemingly something from the dependency chain. Of course, everything of significance is built on a dependency chain. It is a problem when people believe it is OK to just willy-nilly upgrade random parts of that chain. That component W is a stable release does not mean that X, Y, and Z will run using it without issue; X, Y, and Z may need to be updated to reflect changes in W. Or at least QC needs to occur. Anyway, again, 3.8.x was stable for me, and 3.10.x is stable for me. I sort, and search, and read, and send... all day long. Neither Arch Linux nor I do willy-nilly upgrade something, but I will forward this to Arch general mailing list. I'm using Linux only for more then 10 years. Suse isn't an option for my needs. Hi Alphonse, We cannot identify exact problem by looking at terminal session. It will be better to file a bug in bugzila.gnome.org with stack traces. On below URL,you can get help for how to take stack traces. http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces It is better to have debug info rpms in your system so that you will get good traces http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces/DistroSpecificInstructions Thanks, Akhil On Fri, 2007-05-25 at 15:39 +0200, alcapcom wrote: Hi list, I have a big problem with Evolution, during I was writing a mail it has crashed and don't will restart. [Evolution] Crash when upgrading to evo 2.10.1
Hi all, I have just upgraded evo to 2.11.1 from the 2.10 client in Ubuntu and I cannot start evolution. The console shows the following segfault: evolution-mail-CRITICAL: mail_tool_uri_to_folder: assertion `uri != NULL' failed. However, if I move out the .evolution subdir and start again (without touching the gconf values), evo starts without a glitch and shows my mail accounts (without the downloaded mail that I just moved away, of course)... The only way to see mt locally stored mail is by downgrading evo to 2.10.1 and evo-data-server to 1.10.1 I guess that it must be something related to a plugin that I have enabled or a filter or some type? I just can't find the problem... Any hints? [Evolution] Evolution crash recovery
Hi chaps, I switched to Red Hat Linux about 6 months ago, and started using Evolution as it was the installed mail client. I have generally found it excellent. However, this morning, whil eI was attempting a search within a virtual folder, the program crashed. It has since failed to restart, going immediately to the crash dialog with the 'restart' button. I am guessing that it might simply have too much mail to search. Two questions: i. Is there a standard crash recovery process that will get it working? ii. How can I archive old mail? Thanks for any help. Best, Will Meister ___ Evolution-list mailing list Evolution-list@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/evolution-list
