Its a good suggestion to have new subject title with a keyword TIP.

Dear Group,
Please share the tips and tricks in a new email message with the TIP

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: Share Tips and Tricks

2010-03-23 Thread Harpreet Singh Gujral
Hi Ayush,

Looking at Sudhir's idea, i think it would be great to consolidate all
the tips and tricks. But, i also buy in your point, that it would be
difficult to keep the file updated.

I have a suggestion, Would it be possible for you or the members of
the group to follow a pattern for forwarding their "Tips and Tricks".
Example: We can make a common subject line "Tip:" or "Daily Tip" and
following this we can write the tip that the user wants to share with
the group.
Eg: "Tip: How to use excel" or "Daily Tip: How to use excel"

This will help the group in two ways:
1) Group members receive a each new tip as a new email
2) Specially those who wish to receive, a summary of emails at the end
of the day, they would come to know through the summary, how many tips
were floated in a day
3) It will be easy to track a new tip, because, otherwise, if
everybody keeps replying to the same subject line, it would be a long
list of chain mails, and this will make it difficult for the user to
understand, which tip he has read and which is a new one to read.

I hope i was able to put my point forward

Harry

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: VBA code to capture System time

2010-03-23 Thread Harpreet Singh Gujral
Paul,

I think SPS, wants to know, is there a way through which one can
capture system time, at the time when the user locks his/her system
i.e. in a networking environment, people usually press "Windows Key+L"
in order to lock there workstations, before they leave there seat. I
think SPS wants to know, how to capture this time.

Even i would be keen to learn about it.

Thanks

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Navigation Macro..

2010-03-23 Thread Spud
Sorry, should have checked which version of excel you have. The enable/
disable the option in 2007:

1. Click the Office button and then click Excel Options. Excel
displays the Excel Options dialog box.
2. Click Advanced at the left side of the dialog box.
3. In the Editing Options section, clear the Allow Editing Directly in
Cells check box.
4. Click on OK.

I haven't actually used the feature in 2007 so hopefully it will
function the same as 2003 (I have read that it does, but haven't
tested it myself). If you have disabled the option then double-
clicking should take you to the first referenced cell in the formula.
Going back should be a simple matter of pressing alt+tab once.

Cheers,

Spud

$$Excel-Macros$$ VBA Array Statistics (Min, Max, Sum, Avg, StdDev, etc)

2010-03-23 Thread excelCPA
I have just begun to work with arrays in Excel VBA and am struggling
how to obtain basic statistics about the array.

For example
Dim Results_Array(1 to 10) As Double

I run a loop that calculates 10 numbers and places the results in
places 1 - 10 in the array.

How can I compute the average, sum, min, max, and standard deviation
of the completed array? Is there a way to compute the same statistics
for only a portion, say results 5-10?

Something like Average(Results_Array(1 to 10))

Thanks.

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ VBA VLookup dates

2010-03-23 Thread Andy
Sorry for the extra messages but I decided to delete most of the data
in a workbook copy so that I could upload it...

http://excel-macros.googlegroups.com/web/2010%2003%2023%20TEST.xls?hl=en&gsc=c-8xyhYAAAB4suMG83bGpxYXyXRb7VtTTCBlxQqdFNTZwwfBwm5u_Q

Basically I want the code to stop calculating once it hits an error
(#N/A) or at least to show blanks instead.

If there is a better way to do this I'm all ears as a lot of data is
usually entered into these sheets.

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ VBA VLookup dates

2010-03-23 Thread Andy
Managed to get a bit further. The Lookup part is working perfectly but
I can't figure out how to turn the #N/A entries into blanks...

Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
Dim lookFor As Range
Dim rng As Range
Dim col As Integer
Dim found As Variant

Set lookFor = Sheets("Access Data").Range("G2:G5")
Set rng = Sheets("Front page").Range("fortnight")
col = 3

found = Application.vlookup(lookFor.Value, rng, col, 0)

Range("H2:H5").Value = found

End Sub

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: Urgent need some about how can calculate week

2010-03-23 Thread Yogesh
Hi,

You may use the following formula:

="Week "&WEEKNUM(A2)

This would give the week number of the calendar year.

Thanks & Regards,

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Navigation Macro..

2010-03-23 Thread Mark Kim
Hi Spud

I mean for example, Cell A1... I have a formula = Sheet2!A3.

I have a worksheet for for example Feb GST incurred ... (I have lots which
are to caculate for exmpale.. FBT, Deposits.. different types of costs.. )

And i also have a workbook (separate file) which summarize all of these
worksheets.. I can not have a absolute value for any of numbers presented
in this summary.. All have to be linked..

simply.. All the value cells have a formula such as
=[GST.xls]Feb2010'A3' .. something like this..

hm... I think unticking the option edit directly in cell .. will do the
job.. but I really hope to get a macro..

well, I'm using 2007.. where is the option? can't seem to be able to locate
it.. ^ ^;;

I went throught all the options.

$$Excel-Macros$$ Re: purchase order number

2010-03-23 Thread paulwillekens

Hi Colvert,

Well, I think you could keep that "last purchase order number (PON)"
in a (protected) fix cell, e.g. D1

Sub PON()

ActiveCell.Value = Range("D1").Value + 1
Range("D1").Value = ActiveCell.Value

End Sub

Is that what you're up to?

Greetings
