Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Multiple Selection of cells copying the same using macro
Raj, I'm sorry to say that this post has been largely ignored because it contains almost no usable information! --- requesting you to tell me OK.. you're asking a question... the macro codes Since you're here, we can assume it's VBA macro syntax for one of the versions of Excel. Multiple Selection of cells Are the cells contiguous/sequential? In which case you would use: Range(A1:Z65000).Select Or does your worksheet have a Named Range? Like SalesRange? In which case: Range(SalesRange).Select would work Or.. does your macro have a variable that defines the range? Like: ... Dim MyRange as Range ... Set MyRange = Range(A1:Z65000) ... MyRange.Select copying the same Copy WHAT? Values? Formats? column widths? copy to where? The same worksheet? A different sheet in the same workbook? A different workbook? A different APPLICATION? (copy Excel values to Word or Outlook!) To copy the selected Range to the Clipboard, you could use: Range(A1:A65000).Select Selection.Copy Of course, to copy to the clipboard, you don't REALLY have to select the range explicitly. Range(A1:A65000).Copy does the same thing. Now, if you want to copy and PASTE the data. Then you could use: Range(A3:A7).Copy Range(B3).Select ActiveSheet.Paste should do the trick. But then, you don't have to use the clipboard! If you want to copy the CONTENTS of the cells (not formatting) You could use: Range(B3:B7).Value = Range(A3:A7).Value - Of course, if the multiple selection of cells is not contiguous, then the above all changes! Have you tried to record a macro to do what you want and see what code is generated? What have you tried? What is causing you problems? In order to get some group members to be willing to jump in and help without spending HUGE amounts of time answering questions that do not apply to you at all, you should give us more information to work with... Like: In Excel 2007, I have a macro that creates 2000 rows of data. I need to locate the values in each row and copy the values to another worksheet. The values may be in any column, but can be recognized by . What is the best approach for this? $$Excel-Macros$$ Need Help Getting Text To Align Left
Hello everybody, I am in desperate need of some assistance, and I am hoping someone may be able to give me a hand. I am still a bit of a novice when it comes to vba code writing, so I am hoping that it may just be something that I am not aware of. I have some code that makes a string of text using a row of data in Excel. I need a few parts of the text to be formatted to fit 6 spaces, regardless of how few letters or numbers are in the cell in Excel, since many times there are only 2 or 3 characters in the cell (ex. AA or A1). Sometimes the cell may even be blank. Right now I am using the following: StrOut = StrOut StrDelim Format(Cells(R, 33).Value, @@) This gets 6 spaces if there is any text in the Excel cell, but everything is aligned on the right. I need to have the text to be left justified in order to be able to import it into another system. Also, if the Excel cell is blank it does not give me six blank spaces in the text, which is what I would need. Does anybody have any tips or suggestions that may help me out? I have been looking everywhere online for something that may be able to help with no success. Thanks. Erick -- -- Some important links for excel users: 1. Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Need Help Getting Text To Align Left
Align-left and Align-Right is irrelevent (I think) because alignment is a paragraph property, not a string property. What you're saying is that you need the string padded with spaces either on the left or right... So, by example, if you were padding with underscores (_), then the results you're looking for are: __ X_ XX XXX___ __ X_ XX If your value is in Cell B1, then a Cell Function would be: =B1REPT(_,6-LEN(B1)) (or using to pad with spaces. In VBA, your solution would be: StrOut = StrOut StrDelim _ Cells(R, 33).Value _ Application.WorksheetFunction.Rept( , 6 - Len(Cells(R, 33).Value)) Paul From: Erick C boricua2...@gmail.com To: MS EXCEL AND VBA MACROS excel-macros@googlegroups.com Sent: Fri, January 7, 2011 10:10:09 AM Subject: $$Excel-Macros$$ Need Help Getting Text To Align Left Hello everybody, I am in desperate need of some assistance, and I am hoping someone may be able to give me a hand.
