Fwd: $$Excel-Macros$$ compatability issues with 2007 VS 2010

2012-05-27 Thread rekha siri
can any one please advise the below concern

-- Forwarded message --
From: rekha siri rekha.siri2...@gmail.com
Date: Sun, May 27, 2012 at 3:16 PM
Subject: $$Excel-Macros$$ compatability issues with 2007 VS 2010
To: excel-macros@googlegroups.com

Hi Experts,

can any one help me in this below concern one of our trainee has this
concern.

I feel by using Excel 2010 for analysis purpose only as of now will save
our folks in FPA and sourcing Finance with lots of time (my stand is of
ROI 1000%).

For example one of the reports took me 6 hours just to compile the data set
(over 600K rows) and analyze part by part, in the same case if I would have
used Excel 2010 it would have taken me only 5-10 minutes using power pivot.

There are certain questions I put forward to you...

1) What do you feel by ROI by using Excel 2010 Vs Excel 2010?

2) Problem with 2010 is compatibility so if people across TR are using 2007
and not 2010 then it might create trouble, is that there is a way to
convert file format for 2007 user from 2010?

3) Does Windows Xp supports Excel 2010, and OS allows to have 2010, 2007
2003 for installation.I mean both 2007 version and 2010 version.

Good Day!

Hi,

I am trying to come up with the formula to pull up dates from a tracker for
each individual. Example:

*Name
**April 1
**April 2
**April 3**April 4
*Alexei de GuzmanVLJoseph RoxasSLKelly FurioH

*Name**VL**H**SL*Alexei de GuzmanApril 1Joseph RoxasApril 3

So I am making a summary tracker that will break it down by dates for each
name. I have tried using Countif for a particular value but I have been
looking for a formula to come up to pull it up by dates.

I hope someone already knows the answer.

Thank you very much.

 Hi Rekha,

You can change the line that sets the vertical position from:

 newPowerPoint.ActiveWindow.Selection.ShapeRange.Top = 80

 to this (one line):

 newPowerPoint.ActiveWindow.Selection.ShapeRange.Top =
 newPowerPoint.ActivePresentation.PageSetup.SlideHeight -
 newPowerPoint.ActiveWindow.Selection.ShapeRange.Height - 80

which places the chart 80 picas (1/72) from the bottom of the slide
instead of from the top. You could use similar code with the
ShapeRange.Left property to place the chart in relation to the right side
of the slide instead of the left if desired.

 ** **

The macro could be simplified with additional variables and/or With blocks
to avoid all the redundant object references you see in the above line, but
the code provided should do the trick.

 ** **

Oh, when I tested your code on my system I had to change one line. The
following did not find the Powerpoint window:

 AppActivate (Microsoft PowerPoint)

 But this revision worked fine:

 AppActivate newPowerPoint.Caption

 Hi Rekha,

Here's one method. It will return 1-26 for A-Z, whether upper or lower
case. If any other character, it will give an error:

 =FIND(UPPER(A1),ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ)

Here's another method, it will return a number for any character. If the
charcater is A-Z (upper or lower case), it will be 1-26, otherwise it will
be a negative number or a number higher than 26:

 =CODE(UPPER(A1))-64

Although the above could be modified to return an error for other
characters, if that's important, the FIND() method is probably simpler and
 faster.
