Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Urgent Help Required

2015-08-26 Thread Paul Schreiner
First of all:I enjoy helping.Normally, I sort my list of emails (sometimes a
hundred or more)and immediately delete the emails with subjects like:"Please
Help", "Urgent" and "Help Required".Because ALL the people that post to these
sites are doing so because they need assistance, and to THEM, it is "urgent".
and, as the "Forum Rules" state:1) Use concise, accurate thread titles. Poor
thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code
Problem, and Need Advice will not get quick attention or may not be answered.
But today, after deleting a response from another discussion thread, this one
appeared in my preview screen...
Second:There are HUNDREDS (OK, maybe only 50) ways to search a worksheet for a
cell value.What ways have you tried?how do you WANT it to work?
It can be as simple as:
For NameRow = 1 to 50   If (Cells(NameRow,"H").Value = "Name") then exit
forNext NameRow
the loop exits when the "Name" value is found, so the last number assigned to
NameRow ends up being the row with the "Name" heading.
so, please provide a description of what you're trying to do, what you've
accomplished so far, and what you're having trouble with.
I'm sure someone would be glad to help.

RE: $$Excel-Macros$$ Urgent Help Required...!

2012-03-02 Thread Asa Rossoff
Hi Satvik,

MATCH is faster than vlookup.

If your master file is unsorted, here are my best suggestions:

1.   =IF(ISERROR(MATCH($A2,'[master
file.xlsx]Sheet1'!$A$2:$A$11,0)),"Non Callable","Callable")

2.   {=IF(ISERROR(MATCH($A2:$A11,'[master
file.xlsx]Sheet1'!$A$2:$A$11,0)),"Non Callable","Callable")}

Option 2 is a multi-cell array formula that should be a bit faster than
option 1 and will also make your file a little smaller. Enter the formula
in A2 of your DNC sheet, making sure the range $A2:$A11 references every row
in your DNC sheet. Highlight the Callable column all the way down to the
last row and then confirm your multi-cell array formula by hitting
ctrl-shift-enter. If you take this route the DNC sheet will not be sortable
and it will be hard to delete rows due to the formula spanning all those
rows. That's the downside and the benefit may be only slight.

If your master file is sorted, you can use these versions that should be
even faster:

1.   =IF(INDEX('[master file.xlsx]Sheet1'!$A$2:$A$11,MATCH($A2,'[master
file.xlsx]Sheet1'!$A$2:$A$11))=$A2,"Callable","Non Callable")

2.   {=IF(INDEX('[master
file.xlsx]Sheet1'!$A$2:$A$11,MATCH($A2:$A11,'[master
file.xlsx]Sheet1'!$A$2:$A$11))=$A2:$A11,"Callable","Non Callable")}

Notice that for an unsorted master file, there is no need to include INDEX
in the formula. All you need to know is if the tel. no. is in the file.
Match determines that and it's position. Index would do unneeded work to
rerieve the number.

I use Index in the formula for a sorted list, because although Match is
blazing fast with a sorted list, it will not return an error if the number
is not found, so we need to verify that it found the correct number.

Asa

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Urgent Help required

2011-10-13 Thread Paul Schreiner
You could use a macro,
or, you could use a formula by:

1. Copy the sheet to another sheet.
2. in Cell D7 use: =IF('P & L'!D7>0,'P & L'!D7 / 100,0)
(If you want round it to even values, use: =IF('P & L'!D7>0,ROUND('P & L'!D7 /
100,0),0)
3. Copy this cell to all columns and rows
4. Select Copy-> Paste Special -> Values

if you'd prefer the macro, let me know.

Hi

In a cell type 100 copy it( ctrl + C)
Select all cells then paste special ( Alt + E + S + V + I ) value with divide
operation
This will convert all the numbers in million format.

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Urgent Help required

2011-10-13 Thread Dilip Pandey
Hi Prathap,

If this is one time exercise then, write 100 somewhere in and copy
it. Now select the data and apply paste special - > Values -> Divide.
If this is kinda template where figures will come and go, then you can
use custom format.

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Urgent help required

2012-01-04 Thread dguillett1
FIRST. To some of us, ME, “urgent help required” is a NO NO. All requests are
urgent.
Now, you will need to explain the logic of what you want. If you want to find
every comma on the sheet, what will you do with numbers, etc? You need to
specify which columns to search and you need to tell us where you want the
data? Do you want the file changed or do you want a list on another sheet?, etc.

Subject: $$Excel-Macros$$ Urgent help required

Hi,

Please find attached excel sheet named Errors Bifurcation.

In this sheet there are many columns in which errors have been reported
seperated by commas. I want that all the errors seperated by commas should
appear in seperate rows with the data for Target ID and Tranaction ID. For
example:

In Column AB 3, the data reported is: Revenues Missed, Total Assets Missed,
Total Common Equity Missed, Net Income Missed.

I want this data to appear as:

TargetID  TransID  FnclErr

30839253 144138763   Revenues Missed

30839253 144138763   Total Assets Missed

30839253 144138763 Total Common Equity Missed

30839253 144138763   Net Income Missed.

It would be great if you can tell me a solution for this.

Many Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Nitin Arora

Re: $$Excel-Macros$$ Urgent help required

2012-01-04 Thread Paul Schreiner
What you're asking is very simple using VBA.
The question is:  do you know how to use VBA?

 A quick solution would look like:
Option Explicit
Sub Split_Errs()
    Dim R, nRows, dRow, strArray, inx
    dRow = 1
    nRows =
Application.WorksheetFunction.CountA(Sheets("Sheet1").Range("A1:A65000"))
    For R = 2 To nRows
    strArray = Split(Sheets("Sheet1").Cells(R, "C").Value, ",")
    For inx = 0 To UBound(strArray)
    dRow = dRow + 1
    Sheets("Sheet2").Cells(dRow, "A").Value = Sheets("Sheet1").Cells(R,
"A").Value
    Sheets("Sheet2").Cells(dRow, "B").Value = Sheets("Sheet1").Cells(R,
"B").Value
    Sheets("Sheet2").Cells(dRow, "C").Value = Trim(strArray(inx))
    Next inx
    Next R
End Sub

but you need to put it into a "standard" module (rather than a "sheet" module)

using this macro, I was able to take 10,000 rows of sample data and split it
into 40,000 rows in about 5 seconds.
(using Excel 2010)

hope this helps.

The good thing is that your sheet name have a same name with what we are
looking for also the name of month, so we can process it easily, try
this on B2

=COUNTA(OFFSET(INDIRECT($A2&"!$A1"
),2,MATCH(B$1,INDIRECT($A2&"!$1:$1"),0)-1,2^16))

RE: $$Excel-Macros$$ Urgent Help Required in a macro

2010-04-20 Thread Dave Bonallack

Hi Zac,

Can I suggest a simpler approach?

Using the Ctrl key, select the 2 cells you want to swap, then use a shortcut
key to run this code:

Sub swap()
If Selection.Count <> 2 Then Exit Sub
A = ActiveCell.Value
B = ActiveCell.Address
For Each c In Selection
c.Select
Exit For
Next c
D = ActiveCell.Value
ActiveCell.Value = A
Range(B).Value = D
End Sub

It should be quicker than a dialogue box with 3 questions.

Regards - Dave.

Hi Group,

I'm working in a huge excel sheet with thousands of entries. I am currently
looking for a macro, that when invoked (upon press of a key etc) would open a
dialogue box having three fields. The first field being Select Row, In which I
can write a row number Like 3, the second filed would contain "Replace item
from column", where I can write, for example G, and the third field containing
an other "Replace item from column" for example AA. In this case the VBA code
should select cells G3 and AA3. Than when I press enter or a button on the
excel sheet the contents of cell G3 should go to AA3 and contents of AA3 should
go to G3. The dialogue should not close after the cell contents have been
replaced, but should close upon clicking the cross because there would be
mutiple entries that need correction.

An urgent reply and help would be highly appriciated, I have very little time
to do tjis HUGE task of finding and replacing data in excel.

Thanks in advance and Regards,

ZAC.
