550 errors

2003-02-02 Thread Mike Strock

I'm administering a 5.5 box, SP3 installed. I've got a couple users who have switched
to using POP3/SMTP through this machine (they are remote users now).

They are getting a message when trying to send mail to users outside the default
domain of '550, relaying prohibited'. I've had them set it such that they have
checked 'Server requires authentication' and had them put in their username/password
for the domain.

One user is using Outlook Express, one is using Outlook 2000.

How can I correct this?

Thanks.

iirc you must allow relay for domains accessible by POP on 5.5.

Are they remote users where they VPN or dial in to your LAN ?

Have you enabled POP3 support on your IMC and if so, have you configured
the IP addresses allowed to relay ? Did you restart the IMC ?

Ask yourself these questions and see how you get on.

IIRC, Checking Hosts and Clients that successfully authenticate is sufficient enough

No.

If Retained Delted Items does not help, then restore the database to
your recovery server and pull the needed data from there.

One of our users mistakenly deleted his past Friday's calendar
information
through his PDA. We do have a backup of our Exchange server data for
this
past weekend. My question is there any utility in exchange which will
let
me restore only his calendar information from the backup? Any
assistance
would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
