pipe dream or possible

2003-08-14 Thread Brett Wesoloski

Exchange 2000

Ok not sure if this is possible or just a dream I have. But we are
going to be getting e-mails sent to us in XML format. Is it possible to
have exchange process them? Or does any one know of a way using the
.NET frame work?

TIA,
Brett

If you edit the items being imported, you can set their time to busy.

Sorry that was not through enough.

When you create an event on the calendar you can show your time as free,
busy, tentative, or out of office. It defaults to free. Well I am
trying to get it to default to busy. Reason being I am trying to get
all the holidays to show time as busy. It would be a big pain to go
through the calendar and click on the event and then show the time as
busy. Although I could probably be done doing that by now. :-)

Does anyone have any idea's??

Hi All,

We receive a low volume of faxes and send even less. I am interested in
finding a simple and inexpensive way to forward faxes to an email address on
my Exchange 5.5 server. We are not interested in allowing folk to fax from
their PC. Ideally, I would like to find an appliance that could do this for
us... Receive a fax and forward it to a single email address.

If anyone has ever seen such a device or you have any other suggestions,
please let me know.

TIA,

Aaron

Mark,

Good to know about Message Manager moving over the images to a network share. I wrote
a script on the exchange server so that once it came in it would move the image to a
network share based on the fax number it was sent to.

Faxination's a great one for the Enterprise level.
Another good one is Message Manager from www.syssol.com.au which we've
just implemented. It's does everything faxination does and also delivers
inbound faxes to a network share, which was the reason we chose one over
the other (we've got a requirement to bring 10,000 faxes per week into
an image & workflow solution as well as the normal exchange based
inbound & outbound)

RE: Exchange & AS/400

2003-01-16 Thread Brett Wesoloski
I was also wrong in that this is exchange 2000.

That would be whom I am sending it to.

For example if I were sending it to [EMAIL PROTECTED] when they get it in the to
address it has [EMAIL PROTECTED]

When sending from [EMAIL PROTECTED] it sends fine. But when someone reply to
the e-mail address it has [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Wow even looking at it more it has a underscore between the name when it should be a
period.

Here is the example of the e-mail I am getting.

Exchange 5.5

A couple quick questions.

I am having a problem with my reply to address. It seems to be putting
.exchange after everyone's e-mail address.

For example:
my e-mail address should be [EMAIL PROTECTED] but I am getting
for a reply to address [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The send to address are very strange when you get them as well. For
example If I were sending an e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] the to
address would have [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The other question I have is if it is possible to setup exchange to act
as a remote e-mail server. For example, I want to e-mail from the
AS/400, it has its own SMTP service, but you don't know if the mail has
been rejected or not. I want to see if I can use exchange someway to
help out. There is not AS/400 version of Outlook and I can't find any
information on this.

Any thoughts on either of these?

TIA,
Brett

I just wanted to say what a great things SWINC has that you can get the
archives of this list and the E2K list all the way back from 1999.

They come in .zip files, but they are .pst files. Once I got things
unzipped, I began loading them into a new public folder I created and
then told exchange to index that folder so when I need to look something
up like "OWA" and "Password Change", I can do it easily. Sure does save
me time, and it's great having all that wonderful knowledge always
available at my fingertips.

If you have gotten your archives CD yet, I strongly suggest you do.
Then you won't have to ask questions that have already been asked, you
can easily find the answers quickly and without everyone on the list
telling you to check the Archives!

Nope, that is more like the /var/spool/mqueue directory on Unix
(assuming
you are running Sendmail).

Exchange keeps all mail (and other objects) in a special database
called
the "Information Store". The files are, by default, kept in the
directory:

C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\MDBDATA\

A number of different files and formats exist in that directory --
private
and public ESE database files, private and public STM database files,
database transaction journals (logs), and maybe one or two other things.

Those files are like nuclear fuel -- they can be very powerful, but
one
should not screw around with them. :-)

RE: Friday afternoon fun

2002-05-10 Thread Brett Wesoloski

Actually I just got lucky one time. Now I am lucky to get past 800. I
don't think the more you play this game the easier it gets. Although it
does help for finger eye coordination.

all the BEST SYS ADMINS IN THE WORLD...

Top 100 things you don't want the sysadmin to say.

100. Uh-oh.
 99. Shit!!
 98. What the hell!?
 97. Go get your backup tape. (You _do_ have a backup tape?)
 96. That's SO bizarre.

 79. What's this "any" key I'm supposed to press?
 78. Do you smell something?
 77. What's that grinding sound?
 76. I have never seen it do *that* before...
 75. I think it should not be doing that...
 74. I remember the last time I saw it do that...

 72. My leave starts tomorrow.
 71. Ooops.
 70. Hmm, maybe if I do this...

 64. Do you really need your home directory to do any work?
 63. Oracle will be down until 8pm, but you can come back in and finish
your

 61. Yes, I chowned all the files to belong to pvcs. Is that a problem
to
 you?
 60. We're standardizing on AIX.
 59. Wonder what *this* command does?

goes down and your trying to get another one hoping one of the other two do
not go down. Trust me it sucks. I had one go down and before I could get
another one one of the other two went down. Now I will never have just

there's also a bit in the FAQ about optimum HD config for exch55. I think it

Why go to all that trouble. A drafts folder is setup by default in 'Outlook.
Just save the email to that folder before sending as normal. What type of

e-mail to draft box

2002-04-19 Thread Brett Wesoloski

Is it possible to create an e-mail and send it to the draft box.

I will be using the shellexecute shell32.dll. I know how to create it and
fill the fields I just want it to be put in the draft box. Or any folder
for that matter. So I would create all these e-mails and when the user had
time they could view them and send them.

TIA,
Brett

What about a workflow/compliance application? For example, a message is sent
by user A to [EMAIL PROTECTED] The message needs to be checked for
compliance to state/federal laws. (i.e. can't say guarantee when talking
about investments) The compliance officer then needs to pass the message
along as if he never read it. It should look as if user A sent the message.

Then use MS SMTP Server. Use something like CDONTS to create an email and
send it that way. There is no excuse for a product to need that kind of
access to an Exchange server.

Depending on why your doing this/how.

If you are writing an application the user does some action to send this
e-mail. Which I hope is why your sending e-mails on behalf of someone else.
Use the ShellExecute shell32.dll which will call the default e-mail program.

If this is for an application, I hope you've got very strong
management/legal support for what you're doing. Your users probably won't
like the idea of some automated process sending out emails impersonating
them.

Exchange down

2002-03-14 Thread Brett Wesoloski

Everyone had messages stuck in there outbox but we were receiveing external
messages. I looked at the event view and there were no errors. I then
stopped and started the internet mail serview and the messages left. I then
tried to send another message and the message hung. I then stopped and
tried to restart the service but it would not. I got Erroro 1068 The
dependency service or group failed to start. I noticed that the Meessage
Transfer Agent had not started to I tried to Restart that and got Error 2104
an internal error.

Any ideas on this?

Also could someone send me the link to get into Exchange to look at

Outlook 2000 Form fields

2002-02-13 Thread Brett Wesoloski

I am writing a VB 6 app to interact with an Outlook 2000 Form. The app
opens the Outlook form and retreives the data from all of the controls
using the Outlook UserProperties. I am able to access the message field
using the Body property of the MailItem object in VB with no problem.
However, the Message field consistently causes an error every time I use
the UserProperties to loop through all of the other properties/controls on
the form. Is there any way to prevent this?

Thank you.

RE: HELP Can't send mail

2001-11-30 Thread Brett Wesoloski

No Proxy is not on the same server. The exchange box only has exchange on
it.

RE: HELP Can't send mail

2001-11-30 Thread Brett Wesoloski

Where do you set the MX Record?

It probably is the ip address. The server had two cards in it. I just
change the new box to use the other address.

I rebuilt this box and called it the same name. I then used 10.0.0.12 for
an ip address. I have since changed it to 10.0.0.11 which is the other ip
address. Still no mail.

TIA,
Brett

Outlook 2002

2001-10-30 Thread Brett Wesoloski

In previous discussions I have read about people asking where Outlook 2002
is located. I just received Exchange 2000 and can not find outlook 2002
on it where I thought is where this group had said it was.

TIA,
Brett

making outlook the default mail

2001-10-24 Thread Brett Wesoloski

I have a VB application that when you click a button it brings up an
attachment in your mail program to send. I am having trouble with just
one persons computer. It keeps trying to bring up internet mail to send
the attachment. Is there a way to make Outlook the default mail program?
I am using outlook 2000 on a win 98 machine.

TIA,
Brett

Blocking types of attachments for certain people

2001-10-03 Thread Brett Wesoloski

I am using Exchange 5.5 and I was wondering if there is a way to block
certain types of attachments but just for certain people.

Basically I want to block things like .exe, .jpg ect. from certain people.
I can't just restrict size linits because these people get some pretty
large excel and text files but I want to stop the jokes from going around.
I can't block all .exe ect. because some people need to get .jpg's.

TIA,
Brett

E-mailing to a group.

2001-08-13 Thread Brett Wesoloski

I am using Exchange 5.5

I have a custom Reciepient set up to e-mail my phone. This works fine
when I go to exchange pick the recipeint from the list and send a message
to it. I am having trouble when I add this recipient to a distribution

I have done this before with an alpa numeric pager and it worked.
