It has an DLT 80 and uses backup software Veritas Backup Exec Multiserver 7.3. The problem: The backup of the Exchange Mailboxes lasts 12 hours, the whole filesystem (27 GB) is being taped in half an hour. True. But several things come into play with my complaint: 1. We don't use "user share areas" or roaming profiles. 2. RE: View Internet Headers
Ok Tom, when you remove your face from the monitor and manage to sit yourself back down, count up how much time you save by pressing your imaginary "toggle" button as opposed to right clicking and selecting options on a message. I guess it gives you so much more time to do stuff am I right. If you want it stop writing 5 line replies and use the time to write yourself some code and design a custom custom form with your "toggle" button on. Anyone who has as much experience with UNIX mailers as you shouldn't have a problem. I am not disagreeing that it would be a good idea, I just cannot see what heartache a single click and press is? -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Tom Meunier Sent: 25 January 2002 21:22 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: View Internet Headers Wanting to quickly view Internet headers is a behavioral problem? If any of you are familiar with this particular issue or can point me to a particular resource, it would be greatly appreciated. Please note that I have checked the list archive, but did not find any resolution. I am new to this Exchange organization, so I am still trying to understand the layout of the system. Problem: In this multi-site (9 sites) Exchange 5.5 (SP4) organization, the free/busy (f/b) information is not being updated. For example, some users only see a shaded area (hash marks) when they look at others f/b, while others may see f/b data up to a specific date followed by these hash marks for the rest of the calendar. --- I hope this is making sense. This behavior is occurring both inter-site and intra-site. What I have tries: - Update free/busy info. by creating new meeting requests - no change - Run /cleanfreebusy option at the client - no change What Next: Call PSS - they have not been very helpful in the past regarding free/busy connector issues Use the MDBVUE utility to clean out and f/b data (first site issues) Environment Configuration: EX5.5 SP4 NT 4.0 SP6a Site Connectors MS - Mail Connectors (not sure if these are still valid) GroupWise Connectors Free/Busy Connector - age limits set to default (100) Thanks, Bruce _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

In-Box rule? -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Pennell, Ronald B. Sent: 24 June 2002 21:49 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Off Topic I'm trying to setup an "auto reply" for our HR dept to use when they receive "resumes" from outside the company. I've setup the "out of office reply" which only works when a user sends an initial message. They never get a 2nd reply unless I turn the attendent off and then on. Is there a better why to handle this? and How? RE: Exchange 5.5 and Active Directory Native Mode
Here's another. The ADC replicates all Exch5.5 DLs to the AD as universal distribution groups (UDG's), these can exist in either a mixed or native mode AD. But, if you plan to use the E2K equivalent DL object for access to PF's, E2K will need to convert the UDG to a Universal Security Group (USG) because a UDG is not a security principal for ACL'ing PF's etc. USGs can only exist in Native-mode domains. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Andrew Woodworth Sent: 27 June 2002 14:01 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Exchange 5.5 and Active Directory Native Mode I have an Exchange 5.5 server in a Windows 2000 Active Directory running in mixed mode. I've been trying to determine the impact of switching AD to "Native" mode instead of "Mixed" mode. Anyone know if it is OK to switch to Native Mode, or are there issues I need to be concerned about? RE: After mailbox move from 5.5 to 2k Administrators can't open users mailboxes?
That depends what you used to migrate the mailbox, one migration tool may retain more or less information than another e.g. permissions, calendar, contacts, alternate recipient etc. etc. To add new permissions you will need to open the ad users and computers snap in, ensure view\advanced features is selected, find the w2k user object, right click it, select properties, i think its under the exchange advanced tab, then mailbox rights, someone correct me if i am wrong please, i cant remember, its late, i'm tired and i've ran out of bud. goodnight! -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Jason Brown Sent: 27 June 2002 18:47 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: After mailbox move from 5.5 to 2k Administrators can't open users mailboxes? Shouldn't these permissions remain after a mailbox move? If not, where do I setup the new permissions for access? RE: 2nd Exchange server
It all depends on what spec. the server is. If the server is low spec. and you are experiencing performance problems then by all means build a new server on nice new hardware, follow william's instructions and then move mailboxes, if you intend decommisioning the old server and it is the first server in the site be sure to follow the steps in this article - Q152959. GOOD LUCK !! -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Jeff Smith Sent: 13 July 2002 04:54 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Re: 2nd Exchange server I have inherited a 2000 users Exchange 5.5 / NT4 server. I think it makes sense to set up a 2nd server for any new user mailboxes and / or move some existing user mailboxes to the new server as well. Is this a daunting undertaking? Does it makes sense?
