Any idea how to easily clean this up? The Outlook Address Book service is hosed. It gets screwed up at the drop of a hat, so that isn't surprising. Exit Outlook. Go to Control Panel, then Mail (or whatever it is called on your OS). Remove the OAB service from the profile. Start Outlook and then exit again without doing anything (this step may not be strictly necessary, but it makes me feel good). Go back to the MAPI profile, and add the OAB service back in. -- Ben Scott [EMAIL PROTECTED] | The opinions expressed in this message are those of the author and do | | not represent the views or policy of any other person or organization. | | All information is provided without warranty of any kind. | _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchangetext_mode=lang=english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: Contacts issue
This happened to us when I had to move all the mailboxes out to .psts with Exmerge to rebuild a corrupt server (Dell Server with faulty RAID). Ben Scott's solution is what I did. Some of my helpdesk staff figured out which was the bad address book and just deleted that rather than recreating the Outlook Address Book service. RE: 'Contacts' - Searching for activities
By product design. It doesn't work for PF contacts w/o the use of a 3rd party tool. Check www.slipstick.com for mention of such a tool. -Original Message- From: Tim John - Domainz To: Exchange Discussions Sent: 12/16/2001 11:00 PM Subject: 'Contacts' - Searching for activities Hi gang, I hope this isn't too far off topic, but ... I have created a contacts list in Public Folders and have also created a folder where I can 'cc' an email sent to the contact ('Send message to Contact'). When I try and view the activities for the contact, it doesn't return the information from the new email folder. I have configured the 'activities' location in the 'Properties' section of the contact folder, but it only seems to work on the contents of a mailbox and not a public folder. Is this a default setting or am I overlooking something in my configuration ? This works okay for me Is the activity folder a journal folder? If not, try creating a journal public folder and see if you can specify it as the activity folder. RE: 'Contacts' - Searching for activities
Cheers Aaron. I created a journal folder and the 'activity' search worked. However, I had to create a shortcut for each email item in the email folder that I had created. I obviously don't want to do this each time, so can I email directly to the journal or get a copy of the email in there automatically ? Chris, thanks for the response. I guessed it was a design 'limitation'. I am currently using Exchange 5.5 SP4 on an NT 4 box. Is this feature supported as standard in Exchange 2000 ?
