RE: Contacts issue

2003-07-16 Thread Jeff Beckham
I'd be thinking a personal folder. Check to see if the contacts in the
personal folder is checked to show as an address book. If it is,
uncheck it.

I think I may have found the issue.
And you helped me see it Peter. Thanks.

When my clients begin a new email, and they click the to: button, then
click the drop down, there are two listings for Contacts. The problem
is, when you click on the first one, it states that it is not available,
yet the second Contacts contain the actual contacts.
Not sure how this happened. Any idea how to easily clean this up?

retain links back to the old mailbox's contacts folder. I'm trying to

The Outlook Address Book service is hosed. It gets screwed up at the
drop of a hat, so that isn't surprising. Exit Outlook. Go to Control
Panel, then Mail (or whatever it is called on your OS). Remove the OAB
service from the profile. Start Outlook and then exit again without doing
anything (this step may not be strictly necessary, but it makes me feel
good). Go back to the MAPI profile, and add the OAB service back in.

RE: Contacts issue

2003-07-16 Thread Somora, Mary
This happened to us when I had to move all the mailboxes out to .psts with
Exmerge to rebuild a corrupt server (Dell Server with faulty RAID). Ben
Scott's solution is what I did. Some of my helpdesk staff figured out which
was the bad address book and just deleted that rather than recreating the
Outlook Address Book service.

Hey all...

When creating a new email, if I type an alias from a user in the GAL, it will resolve
to the alias I have created for the user in the GAL. Any names in the GAL will
resolve just fine, but when typing an alias in from the contacts folder, the names
will not resolve. It used to work fine under 5.5 but since moving to exchange 2K, it
does not.

Show in address book is checked in the contact properties.

Any ideas as to why this is?

Is there a way to export a distribution list from your Contacts Folder to

captures single contacts and not distribution lists within the Contacts

You can open the DL and do a save as to a txt file. That's about as close as you'll
get without going the third party route.

In Outlook 98 when you create a new message, click To: and

there a way to make that happen in Outlook XP. Currently all

Subject: 'Contacts' - Searching for activities

Hi gang,

I hope this isn't too far off topic, but ...

I have created a contacts list in Public Folders and have also created a
folder where I can 'cc' an email sent to the contact ('Send message to
Contact'). When I try and view the activities for the contact, it
doesn't
return the information from the new email folder.

I have configured the 'activities' location in the 'Properties' section
of
the contact folder, but it only seems to work on the contents of a
mailbox
and not a public folder.

Is this a default setting or am I overlooking something in my
configuration
?

Thanks in advance.

Is the activity folder a journal folder? If not, try creating a journal

RE: 'Contacts' - Searching for activities

2001-12-17 Thread Tim John - Domainz

Cheers Aaron. I created a journal folder and the 'activity' search worked.
However, I had to create a shortcut for each email item in the email folder
that I had created.

I obviously don't want to do this each time, so can I email directly to the
journal or get a copy of the email in there automatically ?

Chris, thanks for the response. I guessed it was a design 'limitation'. I am
currently using Exchange 5.5 SP4 on an NT 4 box. Is this feature supported
as standard in Exchange 2000 ?

Do they have another contacts folder? Like in a PST file or a public
folder? Or do you see the exact same list when you choose either contact
list in the address book?

PS: David, why do you say OAB is bad? I don't like PABs, but OAB seems to
work just as fine.

really do not feel like doing any work today, but alas I must.
A number of the users in my company are showing 2 contacts under Outlook
Address Book when opening the address book.
I have removed the OAB from services, and readded it.
I went to properties of contacts and chose show this folder as an email
address book.
It still shows contacts twice. It also shows 2 contacts in services -
addressing - keep personal addresses in

Thanks,
John
