RE: TechEd
That's either name resolution or network related. And just because they can ping doesn't mean there's enough free network bandwidth to support the connection, either. You didn't mention if they are local or not, and how they are connected, but I'd suggest restarting the MTA service on both servers and see what the result it. -- Roger D. RE: TechEd
You're having a name resolution issue. I used to have RPCbindback errors in my server logs all the time, only rarely between the servers in my own site, but all the time between my bridgehead and the bridgehead in the other site in our org. I could do a ping via FQDN and an RPC ping, but I couldn't ping the server's common name. Our bridgehead and their bridgehead reside in different domains...ours is bhi-erc.com, theirs is hanford.gov. So...my fix was to go into the TCP/IP properties of the network connection, go to the Advanced settings, then DNS tab, and in the Append these DNS suffixes box, I had to reverse the order I had the domains...I had to put their domain first...do the same on yours. Put the other domain's FQDN in there. Do the opposite on the other end and reboot both servers...SHOULD do the trick. Hope that helps. -Original Message- From: Chris H [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, June 04, 2003 3:46 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Re: TechEd If I can do a successful rpc ping and normal ping; which I can; I would think routing would be okay; but obviously something is amiss . . . - Original Message - From: Stephen Mynhier [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Exchange Discussions [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, June 04, 2003 4:44 PM Subject: RE: TechEd But IF the HOSTS file has been modified, then ping could work and 5.5 routing could fail. -Original Message- From: William Lefkovics [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Posted At: Wednesday, June 04, 2003 5:37 PM Posted To: Exchange Discussion List Conversation: TechEd Subject: Re: TechEd These are in the same site.
