I feel the need to thank all of you on this list who's expertise and efforts
helped make 2001 a bit easier on my brain. I'm sure there's a few thousand
out there who share the sentiment. On behalf of all of us semi-pro's --
thanks again and Happy Holidays.

RE: Upgrade of Patches

2001-12-22 Thread ONG Liang Bu (CSC)

Just add one more point, for the latest OWA patch
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS01-057.asp

make sure IE is updated to at least IE 5 and above.
Saw someone on this list has to undo the patch, upgrade IE and
run the patch again. I observer this patch seems to improve
OWA performance. Download of pages seem faster.

Upgrade of PatchesThe latest Service Pack for Exchange is SP4. Use
Winver.exe to make sure your system is running SP6a and not just SP6. Also,
visit http://www.microsoft.com/security and grab the Security Toolkit. Run
HFNETCHK and make sure you have all necessary security patches. Then, visit
http://www.windowsupdate.com and make sure you have all the latest updates
from there. Finally, visit http://www.microsoft.com/download and make sure
you have the latest downloads form Exchange and Windows from there, too.

Hope this helps.

they all have eval versions, so try them all out and decide for yourself

We are currently using Norton Anti-Virus for Exchange which oldly enough
has been working fairly well. My boss, for cost reasons, wishes to examine
Alternatives.
Can you guys recommend some products? and Which products sould I try to
tell him no way, if you want it to work! on?
So far we have looked at F-Secure. Any other thoughts?

RE: Anit-Virus Software for Exchange

2001-12-22 Thread Clark, Steve

I've always heard the same thing. It was a dead toss between Trend and
Antigen. However, I attempted to contact Trend regarding some questions I
had about the product and a potential relationship. They snubbed me. I
contacted Sybari, got right through and was able to set up a relationship
with ease.

Since adopting the product in all offices, I have found the product to be
fantastic with little or no problem what so ever. When I did have to contact
support, the issues are not only resolved - they follow up with me when I'm
not forthcoming on the results.

Extremely impressive.

My vote from not only product capability but from world class support is
Antigen.

I refuse to belive that even CA could make a product worse than
GroupShield. :)

Antigen and Trend are the best... Any CA product is usually
 the worst, and
there are quite a few that are not at all fond of Groupshield either.
