Forefront Hosted solution for Exchange 2007.

2009-06-09 Thread Pfefferkorn, Pete (pfeffepe)
Kind of an off topic subject. We have the opportunity to possibly adjust our
license agreement with Microsoft that will entitle us to Forefront both hosted
and on Premise solution for next to nothing. We went through the hosted
presentation, and it looks similar to other hosted solutions like Proofpoint
and Postini but considerable less expensive. They have an quarantine area, 5
engines etc and the cost is next to nothing. We could also install ForeFront
on out backend servers and hub servers and replace our existing TrendMicro
software which would have an additional cost savings. I'm looking for feedback
on anyone who is using the Forefront product line and their opinions of it as a
hosted solution and on-premise deployment. We are native Exchange 2007 and do
not use edge servers but from what I see none of this would require any changes
to our current infrastructure for onsite and hosted solution.

TLS Set up on SMTP Exchange 2003

2009-06-09 Thread mqcarp
This set up looks insanely easy, so I wanted to throw this out for
those who have done it before I make any changes.

* I do not want to touch my default SMTP. so I will create a second one
* It appears that best practice is to set up a separate IP for a
different SMTP connector. Is this necessary?
* I understand setting up domain to domain TLS for required
encryption, but does Exchange autonegotiate this with other domains if
it is available at the other end?

OOF for Outlook Anywhere user

2009-06-09 Thread Steve Hart
I have a single user that uses Outlook remotely using Outlook Anywhere.
Everything seems to be OK, except for Out of Office. When he attempts to use
it, he gets a message saying that the server is unavailable. We're on
Exchange07 SP1. I'm not sure which version of Office he has.

Ideas?

GoDaddy.com

2009-06-09 Thread David Baca
Hello All,

I wanted to see if any of you were using godaddy.com for your owa - ssl setup
for exchange 2007 and whether you had any issues with communicating or setting
up outlook 2003/2007 or entourage 2008 - even iphone. I have been using
digicert which was smooth but it costs about 250 more. I don't want to switch
to godaddy and all of a sudden have all these issues with secure connections
etc.

Thanks in advance.

David

A lot of ssl clients like firefox don't trust godaddy certs by default. We
have quite a few of them. We use thawte.com for our owa certs. About $150 a
year and so for every device trusts it by default; even our iphone users.

We also use Thwate for our OWA. Everything trusts it so there is never an
issue.

I use to use Thawte but they don't have Subject Alternative certs, which I
needed for Exhange. Awesome folks to deal with when I did though.
