RE: 2007---2010 upgrade licensing

2009-11-24 Thread Sam Cayze
DAG needs Ent? Dang it. For once I thought our tiny company could get
by on an actual Standard Edition for once...

I was told by my vendor that I have to rebuy cals. Also note, Outlook
is no longer included in a Cal.

Hi,

Two questions

1) Does anyone know if we are going from 2007 to 2010 if we have to
rebuy cals or if the cals we bought for 2007 are still valid with 2010?

2) Does anyone know if DAG is supported on Ex2010 Standard (I know
it requires enterprise version of host OS).

Thanks

Several high-availability options have been consolidated into just one option
for Exchange Server 2010 (Mailbox Resiliency), which is now offered in both the
Standard and Enterprise editions. The capabilities of Local Continuous
Replication, Standby Continuous Replication, and Cluster Continuous Replication
are now unified into the Exchange 2010 Mailbox Resiliency capability. These
capabilities enable a simplified approach to high availability and disaster
recovery.

How allow users to open shared subfolders in another users inbox

2009-11-24 Thread Nick Symiakakis
Hi all, I have been requested to allow 2 or 3 people to have access to each
others shared inboxes, but my problem is, they all have subfolders that are
below their inbox. When I open another users folder, it comes up in the main
pane, and not in the tree on the right, so I can't see subfolders. Also, I need
these to stay in their Outlook when they log in, so they don't have to keep
connecting to each other.
Any ideas would greatly be appreciated.
Nick

Give reviewer permissions to the root level of the mailboxes and each subfolder
(and parent folder) that you want others to access. Then add the mailbox to
Outlook under Account settings.

Directory Access DC Discovery

2009-11-24 Thread mqcarp
My EXCH03 server is only finding one of our DC. I am leery of adding
the other one manually. I would rather see why it is not identifying
the second one. I have done some research and do not see anything that
really makes this clear. Is there a normal reason this second DC
would not show?

Anti-malware, etc

2009-11-24 Thread Bill Lambert
Hello all...

I'm working on the budget for our F11 that starts in Feb. I want to
replace our Spam Assassin that's running on a Linux SMTP box and MacAfee
AV on our Exchange box. I've been thinking about Forefront as an
alternative. If any of you are using it, could you comment on its
effectiveness please?

I am open to other products too so feel free to make suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

What is the driver for moving away from SpamAssassin?

Moving away from McAfee I thoroughly understand, however.

RE: Directory Access DC Discovery

2009-11-24 Thread Steve Szabo
Are any of your other DC's marked as global catalogs? I believe Exchange
needs that in order to see and use the DC. In AD Sites and Services is
where you can accomplish this. As I recall it is a checkbox under NTDS.
