 Subject: BlackBerry Hidden Folders

Our messaging servers are Exchange 2003 SP2. Mobile communications for
700
users is supported by a BES 4.1 SP6 envirionment. Using PFDAVADMIN I
have
identified a large number of BlackBerryRefIDSearchFolder1_7 folders with
20,000 or more messsages. We have a handful approaching 90,000.

We contacted BES support. Simply stated the tech confirmed that the
folder
in question includes every message you have sent/received from the day
you
activated your first BB device. The folder and its contents remain even
if
you remove the account from the BES Server and re-add it a day later.
RIM
provides no remedy even in version 5.0 SP2.

From what I could gather from research those folders are search folders
which are created dynamically based on the PR_RIM_MSG_REF_ID extended
mapi
property stamped on each message. I have seen a recommendation to
delete
that property the item will drop out of the search folder. Can anyone
 confirm this?

Does anyone know to change this property in MFCMapi or know how to make
this change in bulk? Thanks. Keith Byer…State of SD

Accuracy of E2k3 ESM

2010-10-01 Thread Level Five - List
I have an exchange 2k3 enterprise server with about 40 users on it.
Everything seems fine, the owner lost his laptop recently and we set up a
new one, however his inbox is only showing about 2000 items, strangely they
go back in the inbox to 2007 and all his 2100 contacts are there. However,
all his subfolders are gone.

On the exchange mgr his mailbox shows 2.3GB with 18,000 items, which is
obviously not making it to the inbox. Checking OWA and trying to exmerge I
get the same few thousand items with no subfolders from the inbox.

So now Im wondering how accurate is the view Im looking at, I have never
seen this before so I thought I would punt J

Just remember this is a technology preview that may or may not ever see the
light of day as a commercial release. They are trying to see if anyone is
interested. So the more downloads and comments the better the resources

RE: Accuracy of E2k3 ESM

2010-10-01 Thread Knoch, James W
Do you have Delete Item Retention turned on? If so, then the missing
items you're not seeing are probably sitting in the deleted item
dumpster.

You would have to tell Exmerge to export Items from Dumpster in the
options for exporting if you want to export them. You will have
problems with a mailbox over 2GB in size, so I'd suggest splitting it up
based on the date of the items.

Strange about the subfolders being gone. If you want a better visual
without having to go the Exmerge route download the DigiScope product
http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp and with the DEMO license
you will be able to see anything that was hard deleted etc and then can
take action from there

Exch 2010 Activesync issue

2010-10-01 Thread Joseph Heaton
Anyone here using Droid phones with Exchange 2010 Activesync? Anyone get it to
work? I've done Google research, found tons of references to issues with Droid
and Exchange, but not many at all referencing 2010. Also, our setup in the lab
is going through TMG 2010, so that may have something to do with it too,
although we did follow the Technet article for publishing Activesync. The
error I'm getting is Login to the account failed, please try again. I've
tried with SSL, for which we're using a wildcard cert from Verisign, and
without SSL, no difference.

If anyone has gotten it to work, without using Touchdown, I'd appreciate
hearing about it.

Thanks,

Joe

Strange about the subfolders being gone. If you want a better visual without
having to go the Exmerge route download the DigiScope product
http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp and with the DEMO license you
will be able to see anything that was hard deleted etc and then can take
action from there

Do you have Delete Item Retention turned on? If so, then the missing items
you're not seeing are probably sitting in the deleted item dumpster.

You would have to tell Exmerge to export Items from Dumpster in the
options for exporting if you want to export them. You will have problems
with a mailbox over 2GB in size, so I'd suggest splitting it up based on the
date of the items.

There are a number of known issues with Android 2.2. Google has fixed it, but
the fix is still in the beta stream not the released stream.

The workaround is to use touchdown until a permanent fix is released.

Subject: Exch 2010 Activesync issue

Thanks,

Joe

2010-10-01 Thread Joseph Heaton
Yep, that's pretty much what I've been seeing, was just hoping that someone had
figured it out.

What I'm really trying to do at the moment, is simply test our Activesync
setup, to make sure it works, and we don't have any WM devices around. My
phone guy is supposed to be getting me a couple of WM test devices soon,
though, so we'll see then.

There are a number of known issues with Android 2.2. Google has fixed it, but
the fix is still in the beta stream not the released stream.

The workaround is to use touchdown until a permanent fix is released.

Subject: Exch 2010 Activesync issue

Thanks,

Joe

Help! My server side rules have stopped working.

2010-10-01 Thread Sobey, Richard A
All,

I wonder if anyone has seen this happen before. I am in the midst of deploying
Exchange 2010 SP1 server in my organisation, primarily an Exchange 2007 shop
with some legacy 2003 servers that don't do a lot.

Anyway, long story short, I moved my mailbox to Exchange 2010, discovered
certain things didn't work (certificate related, not unexpected) and moved my
mailbox back to an Exchange 2007 server (SP2 RU4).

Since then, some of my server side rules have all but stopped working. I've
tried:

* Starting Outlook with the /cleanrules switch and recreated rules from scratch.
* Moving the mailbox again within Exchange 2007.

The odd thing is, one rule - to filter mail sent internally to a DL - does work
as intended. Also, if I Run Rules now it works as intended, i.e. the messages
are filtered.

Finally, one of the rules only works intermittently. Some mails have ended up
in the destination folder but the majority stay in my Inbox.

A prize for the person who can solve this, I'm stumped!

Richard

RE: Exch 2010 Activesync issue

2010-10-01 Thread Michael B. Smith
I really should write this up at some point, but I'm slammed these days - but
you can download WM images and emulators that run on Vista/Win7. They are
authentic emulations and a great way to test ActiveSync and Outlook Anywhere.
Search for the Windows Mobile SDK. (I haven't seen images released for WP7 yet.)

Anyone here using Droid phones with Exchange 2010 Activesync? Anyone get it to

and Exchange, but not many at all referencing 2010.

When moving to 2010, your rules (if they weren't already) got rewritten to
unicode. They are probably too large to be processed on 2007, unless you've
bumped the default rule size limit with Set-mailbox.

Richard

I've used the WM5 and 6 emulators quite a bit. A lot better than trying to
keep track of multiple devices. Plus, it makes capturing images of the
Windows Mobile screens for documentation very easy.

I really should write this up at some point, but I'm slammed these days -

Yep, that's pretty much what I've been seeing, was just hoping that someone
 had figured it out.

Google has fixed it,
but the fix is still in the beta stream not the released stream.

The workaround is to use touchdown until a permanent fix is released.

Anyone here using Droid phones with Exchange 2010 Activesync? Anyone get
it to work? I've done Google research, found tons of references to issues
with Droid and Exchange, but not many at all referencing 2010. Also, our
setup in the lab is going through TMG 2010, so that may have something to do
with it too, although we did follow the Technet article for publishing
Activesync. The error I'm getting is Login to the account failed, please
try again. I've tried with SSL, for which we're using a wildcard cert from
Verisign, and without SSL, no difference.

If anyone has gotten it to work, without using Touchdown, I'd appreciate
 hearing about it.

 Thanks,

 Joe

How did you delete the rules?
One by one or the /cleanrules switch?

If it wasn't using /cleanrules, then I would suggest that you try that.
