Connecting Outlook 2003 to Exchange 2010 SP1
We are migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 SP1 I have built a test environment (no internet access, no access to my primary network) to run through the steps before doing them live - the tighter integration to AD has me a touch paranoid. In my test environment I have Exchange 2003 SP2 servers and I have built my first Exchange 2010 SP1 CAS. I have turned off the Encryption requirement for RPC while troubleshooting this. The mailboxes are still sitting on the Exchange 2003 server. Both classes I took and everything I've read said to install the CAS first, point the clients there, then install the HT, and then the MBX, then when you move the mailboxes the client pointing is already taken care of. I try to change the Outlook 2003 MAPI profile to point to the Ex2010 CAS and it reverts to the Exchange 2003 server. It does this every time. I have to have missed something simple, but I haven't been able to figure out what. RE: 2010 migration
The migration went very well. Would of been a non-event if I hadn't forgotten about an internal firewall between our Oracle and Exchange servers but . . . . today I am dismantling our 2007 systems and deleted the public folder because it was only for Blackberry offline address book. Shortly after that, I started getting phone calls about end users not being able to book conference rooms. The error is - Direct Booking Cannot directly book a resource for this meeting. I have Google'd it and found that if you mount the DB that holds the PF everything is ok but I can't do that. I thought that Exchange 2007 didn't use PF but there must be some tie to them still. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks in advance. -Wayne --- To manage subscriptions click here: http://lyris.sunbelt-software.com/read/my_forums/ or send an email to listmana...@lyris.sunbeltsoftware.com with the body: unsubscribe exchangelist

Suffice it to say when you decommission and properly remove the Exchange 2003 server the Outlook 2003 clients will autodiscover the new Exchange 2010 CAS and update the MAPI profile seamlessly ?
