We have found that you need to have the 'on fast networks' setting checked.
This will enable HTTPS connections for all networks.

Subject: Exchange 2007 to 2010 move mailbox issue???

We just upgraded from Exchange 2007 to 2010. I moved a mailbox (Local Move
Request). During the move Outlook remained operational and seamless. However
once the mailbox move was complete Outlook went into a disconnected state. It
didn't seem to matter if I restarted Outlook or not, it stayed disconnected. I
gave up on it and somewhere between 30 and 60 mins it just started working.
This was all done on the LAN.

We are running RPC over HTTP. I checked the connection status when it was
disconnected and it was still trying to connect to the old 2007 mailbox server
(CCR).

Then I tried moving another mailbox. The computer running Outlook was remote.
It has been an 90 mins and Outlook is still disconnected.

I tired updating the Offline address book, and forced AD replication. No luck.
During the conversion I did disable OutlookAnywhere on the 2007 server as
recommend by Microsoft. Should I re-enable it?

Any idea on how to get this working?

Thanks,
Andy

then secondly change that, so add in another user who is aloud to add events.
Also, to make this even better then add that calendar to that users mailbox so

RE: emails appearing in Outbox?

2011-02-02 Thread Smith, Adam
I have seen this, they should only see them in online mode or OWA. Microsoft
has addressed this issue in an office update I think (not sure which one) but
it didn't cure our issues. In all of our cases, the items that are in the
outbox have been successfully sent and are also in the sent items. You should
be able to safely empty the outbox of the affected users.

You can see which mailboxes have items in the outbox by running this powershell
command:
Get-mailbox -resultsize unlimited | % {Get-MailboxFolderStatistics $_
-FolderScope outbox} | Sort-Object -Descending ItemsInFolder | ft -AutoSize
Identity, servername, ItemsInFolder

find that the information I wanted to retrieve is larger than what will display
on screen or even output to a file. Can someone help me with the syntax

Command
[PS] C:\Get-SendConnector -id OurConnectorName |fl AddressSpaces

Output
AddressSpaces : {SMTP:domain1.com;1, SMTP:domain2.com;1, {more domains followed
by} SMTP:domain16.com;1,...}

I want to replace those ellipses with the remaining domain names configured in
the connector. I'll keep digging but if anyone has the answer I would

RE: Emails in Outbox

2011-01-20 Thread Smith, Adam
This has been happening to some mailboxes for a long time, the only way I know
to handle this is to have them log into OWA or online mode and empty the
outbox. In all of our experiences the message is in the sent items as well as
the outbox. You mentioned that this doesn't happen for you?

You can see which mailboxes have items in the outbox by running this powershell
command:
Get-mailbox -resultsize unlimited | % {Get-MailboxFolderStatistics $_
-FolderScope outbox} | Sort-Object -Descending ItemsInFolder | ft -AutoSize

Microsoft has stated that one of the office patches or updates was supposed to
correct this issue but it hasn't worked for us.

Recovering store to different server

2009-03-16 Thread Adam Meixler
hi All,

I need to recover some mail last backed up in 2006. I have the tape and an RSG

RE: Recovering store to different server

2009-03-16 Thread Adam Meixler
If I setup a new server with the same name or do a full restore of the original
system how would this impact users that have since been moved to other servers.
i.e. will users try and connect to the DR restore? (old and new servers have
different server names) thanks!

The RSG was created using the existing storage group. I was assuming
BackupExec/Exchange was just going to magically move the backed up group into
the new RSG. A bit of reading has shown how poor an assumption that was.

Subject: RE: Recovering store to different server

RSG will only work for existing storage groups in the organization. I don't
believe it will work to recover a store from a nonexistent server or storage
group. If the exchange backup that was done is part of the same domain that
are restoring too then I would setup an additional server in the org using the
same name as before and restore to that server.

If not then do a full restore of the system state and store to a completely
separate server and treat it as a DR restore to new hardware.

I admit my knowledge on RSG is limited but I may be wrong. PSS may be your
best bet in this case depending on your need.

I'm confused? I know that if you are a [EMAIL PROTECTED] customer, you need

Upgrade from Exchange 5.0

2002-05-28 Thread Adam Buckland

I've been following the threads, reading archives etc but before I go
looking to hire someone to do this, I want to have a fair idea what is
possible.

We have Exchange 5.0 running on NT4 SP6 which is also PDC
Antigen installed
No direct internet connection, dials up to the ISP every 1/2 hour
All users are on static IP addresses (in a really silly setup but it's fixed
in stone now!)
The Company has 20 users this will grow to 25 MAX

Having run this setup well for the last years it's time to upgrade both
hardware and software.
We have copy and licenses for SBS 2000 available (Legally) for very little
money.
Whilst I don't need the use of SQL server or IIS the cost of this does
appear compelling against a Server + Exchange 2000 setup.

Our web site is hosted externally and will remain so although we will make
the upgrade to ADSL on a dynamic IP.

All I'd want the box for is Email Routed Web Access
The old server would remain on the network as a member server handling File
 Print functions

Does this sound like a reasonable setup (Given many peoples objection to
PDC/Exchange being on same machine)?

I will hire in someone to do the setup etc..

Anyone in London/Kent (UK) area, know their stuff and want a bit of outside
work?

Thanks for Listening and hopefully answering.

Backup 5.5 / Migrating to 2k

2002-02-27 Thread Adam

The other question I have is migrating to 2k.
The office is a small office, like 10 accounts with mail on them.
Want to migrate to 2k. Is it worth just making pst's or something then
restoring those? Or is there some util to do it?

Stop Exchange Services
Copy PRIV.EDB, PUB.EDB, DIR.EDB at a bare minimum.
Do an Online Backup if at all possible (NT 4 can only go to tape out of
the
box, but 2000 can backup to file.) This will require that you restart
at
least up to the Information Store level(SA, DS and IS)

Be aware that if you rely on flat file copying, it may be more difficult
to
restore the files. If you just need to re-install the Admin Tools, you
should be able to just remove and re-add them, then re-apply the current
Service Pack.

I was the one with the problem that I cannot add new users.
I have found my 5.5 disks and will attempt to reinstall.

What is the best way to backup an exchange server (email info etc) over
a network to another drive? Is just copying the directory good enough?

And what's the best way to go about reinstalling the admin tools etc?

Thanks
Adam

Sounds good. Are there any software packages to do the file? Veritas or
something?

Just worried about something messing up and losing mail :)

Do not underestimate this process. It is a relational database with
transaction logs, not a big file to copy.

What sp are you on? What happens when you try adding a new user? What
version of Linux are you on? What version of Windows? What Windows sp?
Are you creating the user and it dies trying to create a mailbox? Or
the
other way around? Are you attempting this on the actual console or from
another station using the admin tools?

Patiently waiting...

William

Exchange Admin Problem

2002-02-25 Thread Adam

I run Exchange 5.5 on an NT4.0 box. Small setup, about 15 users. Just
recently every time I go into Exchange Administration I get an error
that reads:

An unexpected, unknown error has occurred.

MAPI or an unspecified service provider.
ID no: --

Any ideas how I can fix this? I cannot add any more users.. And I need
to add a new one! :)

Thanks

Well outlook express was on the machine.. but that's about it. Removed

How do I connect to it remotely? Not even sure I have the orig. 5.5
disks lying around anymore! Is there way to copy files from it?

Doesnt Outlook replace some of the Exchange DLLs and slap the crap out

the server ?

Have you perhaps installed Outlook or some other mail client on this
box?
Is the Exch admin program at the same SP as the Exch server?

RE: Moving to Antigen

2001-10-04 Thread Adam Simms
Title: RE: Moving to Antigen

I am a former NAI employee. I have recently changed to a new company and just migrated from Groupshield to Antigen. I have found it to be much more efficient and much less intrusive. I still run Mcafee on my Servers and Desktops, but I do believe that Antigen is a better product. BTW, I did leave NAI on good terms :)

Exchange 2000 and Reroute Incoming SMTP Mail

2001-09-21 Thread Adam Meixler

I just joined the list so I apologize if this has already been covered
before (couldn't find it in the archives).

We have multiple domains which are various spellings of our main domain.
Basically we want any email sent to one of these other domains rerouted to
our main domain (interlink1.com). In exch5.5 this was simple, anything sent
to our main domain we set as route to inbound. All the other variation
domains we set to route to our main domain. example:
sent to:route to:
interlink1.com inbound
interlink-one.com interlink1.com
interlinkone.cominterlink1.com

I can't seem to find the necessary settings in Exchange 2000 to make this
happen. Anyone have pointers on how to do this, or suggestions on resources
which cover this scenario.

TIA,
Adam
