Blacklisted out of the blue

2009-09-30 Thread Chris Drobny
Ok so we are having trouble emailing some of our customers so I do a
quick check to find out why. Seems http://njabl.org/ is saying we are
an open relay which I had thought I had closed up years ago. So I go
thru google searching on how to find and close this, I followed MS idea
some other random ideas and I am not seeing the issue. I run some tests
on the web and it says I am fine. I have run the test on abuse.net and
it says im ok but may or may not be an open relay. I am getting towards
my wits end, can anyone help.

RE: Blacklisted out of the blue

2009-09-30 Thread Chris Drobny
Currently my people using email do have to VPN in so that isn't a
problem. The barracuda is just for filtering spam coming in I don't
think I have it relaying mail out. But maybe I am confused. Again
nothing has changed in 3 years and I am just getting these open relay
messages now. I fought this when I first put the box up and thought I
had closed everything off.

Looks like you should go through those barracuda settings again because
spammers are likely abusing your public service. If you need to have
mobile users relay mail from the field, you need to enable and require
some kind of LDAP/AD authentication for all senders. If the barracuda
doesn't support authenticated relaying via AD you will have to turn off
all relaying except from your exchange server. In this case, the remote
users will have to use a vpn of some sort in order to send mail as
though
they were in the office

What's really bad here is that all the spam comes from your IP and the
sender is also spoofed as you since you have locked down relaying from
senders with a domain other than yours. Some chickenboner has probably
discovered your service lately...

planning for exchange 2010

2009-10-13 Thread Chris Drobny
We are currently using ex 2003, and I am planning and budgeting to move
to 2010 and fix some of my things I don't like currently. We use VPN
for connection to the exchange box. I have 90 sites outside my office,
a site being a PC in a warehouse. I was thinking of using RPC to
connect these as my current PPTP VPN drops connections since these are
mostly DSL sites. So I was thinking front end server and mailbox
server, but I am not seeing stuff online that makes sense. Would I
still need an ISA server, to not make this a P.I.T.A.? any one have a
good resource that shows how to plan this. We are about a 150 mailbox
company need room to grow, what is the best config?

Exchange SSL cert, popup question

2011-03-24 Thread Chris Drobny

So when anyone inside my office opens outlook I get prompted for a cert
verification from my CAS server. This is because it is the server cert I had
used while testing this box. I have gone into EMC and changed all the internal
URLs to the valid doman cert, I use for webmail/active sync ect. When I am
outside of my network i.e. home, cell modem, ect. Open outlook no pop up box,
but when inside it wants me to validate the cert. Anyone else had this issue?

Do you have a commercial trusted certificate on all CAS servers if more than
one?
Have you removed the certificate you were using for testing from the server?
Have you enabled your commercial certificate for the relevant services? Use
get-exchangecertificate to verify.
Are you sure that the certificate prompt is coming from your server?
Autodiscover (which is the most likely cause) polls a number of URLs, which may
well resolve to somewhere that you aren't expecting.

2011-05-13 Thread Chris Drobny
I had to move some things around in my exchange setup, I was having issues
with free/busy info and OOF, this is fixed now. Now I am diagnosing speed
issues, and calandar sharing thru outlook which is slow and not working. Can
find anything on web relating to this issue. Anyone have ideas?
