Outlook Profiles

2001-12-07 Thread Colin Maynard

Hi All,

My company want to set up roaming profiles for Outlook only (Using Exchange
5.5 SP4). I believe that the only options we actually have are OWA and full
NT roaming profiles but both of these solutions are not really acceptable in
this case. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to achieve a roaming
profile for Outlook only? BTW, manually setting profiles is also
unacceptable as there are 600+ users.

Thanks for any suggestions

Clients are NT/2000 with the exception of a few ;-). I am not familiar with
profgen. Will it prompt for users to log in to Exchange on startup of
Outlook and then create their profile on the local machine? If this is the
case then how do I get my sticky fingers on it?

Can't you use profgen or something to create multiple profiles on each
computer and have Outlook prompt for profile?

Oh wait... Clients are NT/2000 right?

I am pretty sure this is not an option. Even if there were enough disk
space on the server it would involve reconfiguring all the workstations,
which brings us back to roaming profiles.

Not sure how feasible/possible this is (not enought caffeine), but if your
users have server based home drives, could OL be configured to store it's
profile data on there?

Can't you create a public folder called 'Training Diary' with read only

Hi All

I am currently trying to setup an area for our intranet where people can
view one persons calendar(our trainer) and see when he is busy/free. I
would like them to be able to book time against the calendar. Do anyone
know if this is possible utilising Outlook Web Access? We are currently
running Outlook 98 using Exchange Server 5.5 SP4.

Please Help.

TIA

Preferred Disk Config

2001-09-26 Thread Colin Maynard
Title: SMTP mail to exchange help

Hi
All,

I know
that this question has been asked before so I apologise in advance but
can't seem to find a solid answer anywhere.  Here
goes.

What
would be the ideal disk config for performance and reliability?  Money is
not an issue at this time. I am thinking:

2 x
9Gb RAID 1 for System
2 x
18Gb RAID 1 for transaction logs
3 x
36Gb RAID 5 for Info stores

Please
let me know if I have got it completely wrong as I need to recommend a solution
soon and would rather get it right first time :-)

TIA

I'd agree with this config generally, assuming:

1. We're talking Exchange 5.5, or Exchange 2000 with a single storage
group.
2. The 72Gb available on the RAID5 set allows enough room to run the
database utilities should you need to

RE: Forwarding e-mail (Server Rule)

2001-10-02 Thread Colin Maynard

On Exchange 5.5 (E2k I am not sure about)

Create custom Recipient using your bosses hotmail account (File, New Custom
Recipient)

Open his mailbox properties, Delivery Options, Alternate recipient
Use the Custom recipient you just created.
Job Done!

Hope this helps

My boss is leaving for Switzerland this PM. Last year he could not get OWA
to work, it worked in Italy. I would like to forard his e-mail to his
hotmail account. How do I do that on the server? He does not want to keep
his Outlook 2000 open.
