Mixed and Native Mode

Can anyone tell me why, when I try to change to Native Mode on my
Exchange Server the button is greyed out. I have no other Exchange 5.5
Servers onsite at all, but still it will not let me changed modes.

Cheers

On Friday of last week the Information Store stopped on my Exchange 2K
box. I posted to this list some time ago with the same problem, but then
it seemed to go away. However it has now returned. The information store
appeared to just stop in it's tracks and write a Dr. Watson log. Having
restarted it, it stoppped again, and in the end the only apparent
solution was to restart the server. Since then all has been well

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

There were no errors logged for the IS at all. I have just checked the

I will the check the site out. I noticed there was an entry in the KB
about the IS stopping when it's processing SMTP mail.

What SP of exchange are you running - have a look at
http://www.slipstick.com/admin.htm for post sp1 patches and info on
them. All these logs you have are from the SA, but you say the IS
stopped - was there not an error logged when this happened?

SMTP Mail Logging

There is probably a really simple answer to this problem. When we used

Is this function in Exchange 2000 and if so where do I turn it on?

1)
Exchange 2000 SP2
2) The
message came from user not on our system
3) The
message header just show the two user who should have got the message, nothing
out of the ordinary
4) The
only 3rd party apps are some reporting sending tools.
5) HE
has no other permissions set on his mailbox
6)
This is the second time this has happened
7) I
checked the sent items, the message had not been forwarded.

OK - some more info then. What version
  of Exchange are you running?
Was the sender on your mail system or a different one?

What is in the message header?
Do you have any 3rd party apps with access to your Exchange
  servers?
Does the user have any permissions or delegate access setup on
  his inbox?
Does it happen every time the user receives an e-mail from
anyone, from only that sender, or just the one time?
Did you check the sent items for your user to make sure the
  mail was not forwarded?

1)
Exchange 2000 SP2
2)
The message came from user not on our system
3)
The message header just show the two user who should have got the message,
nothing out of the ordinary
4)
The only 3rd party apps are some reporting sending
tools.
5)
HE has no other permissions set on his mailbox
6)
This is the second time this has happened
7)
I checked the sent items, the message had not been
forwarded.

OK - some more info then. What
version of Exchange are you running?
Was the sender on your mail system or a different
  one?
What is in the message header?
Do you have any 3rd party apps with access to your
  Exchange servers?
Does the user have any permissions or delegate access
  setup on his inbox?
Does it happen every time the user receives an e-mail from
anyone, from only that sender, or just the one time?
Did you check the sent items for your user to make sure
  the mail was not forwarded?

Renaming Server

2002-02-18 Thread Jeramy Eling

Hi All,

We are thinking about renaming our Exchange 2000 Server. I just want to know if anyone
has done this, and if so are there any guides out there we could use?

Cheers

Recently Changed to Native Mode

2002-03-05 Thread Jeramy Eling

This is probably a really easy one to answer, but I recently changed to native mode on
my Exchange 2000 Server. Since doing this I have started to receive the following
messages in my event logs:-

Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSADC.
Event Category: LDAP Operations
Event ID: 8026
Date: 05/03/2002
Time: 15:11:52
User: N/A
Computer:   {Servername}
Description:
LDAP Bind was unsuccessful on directory {Exchange Server} for distinguished name
'Userid'. Directory returned error:[0x51] Server Down. (Connection Agreement
'Mailboxes' #1992)

For more information, click http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Do I have to delete my connection agreements in ADC to resolve this issue, if not what
can I do to stop it.

Many Thanks

It was a migration from 5.5 to 2000. Going by that comment I will get rid of it.

I guess the question is why do you have the ADC now that you're in
native mode? It's only used when 5.5 is present.

Can't Create SMTP Address

2002-07-08 Thread Jeramy Eling

Hi All,

I have a really really annoying problem. I am trying to add an SMTP address to a user,
but whenever I add it, it tells me it is already in use in the organisation.

If I search AD I can't find anyone using that address and if I send an email to the
address it tells me that the user has changed address permantly and forwarding was not
possible. Does anyone know how I can find out if someone is using the address or how I
can delete it to allow me to assign it to the new user.

Many Thanks
