Crashed DC

2013-05-09 Thread Lynden A. Philadelphia
I have a client that has a small shop.

His DC crashed. No backup of the DC or Exchange.

I can still access the Exchange Server but there is no way to get back the DC.

I have created a new DC and joined the old Exchange Server to the Domain.

I have also ran

setup /Prepare AD, Domain, Schema and legacy permissions on the DC.

What do I do next to get this into production again?

Should I create a new Exchange 2010 box and copy the edb and transaction logs
to the new server?

Help!

One DC. Separate servers. I just took over this client. Not sure what the
name of the Exchange Organization is.

But the Domain is the same

There was only one DC?

Was Exchange installed on the DC?

When you created the new Exchange organization, did you name it the same thing
as the old one?

If you have any Sharepoint connections, it could be a permission or connection

Does a new Outlook profile resolve the issue?

Just a WAG: check the permissions on the OAB web.config file and make sure
that the authenticated users group has read and execute permissions. For some
reason about 3 weeks after we started using Exchange 2010 we had login dialog
boxes start appearing in Outlook and the GAL was not updating in Outlook and
this was the culprit. The web.config file is in program
files\microsoft\exchange server\v14\clientaccess\oab\web.cong

We've had this happen twice and I can't explain how it happens.

If the old server account is still in the domain then the most straightforward
way is to build a new machine with the same name and add it to the domain. Then
install Exchange using the recover server switch from the command line. Once
complete, remove Exchange correctly using add/remove programs. You can use a
virtual machine to do this, and that way it can be done in less than an hour.

That is the only supported method to remove Exchange 2010. Manual removal, such
as using adsiedit is not supported and could easily cause your existing machine
to become non-operational.

You can setup an acct on your carriers BIS site.
Query Google for your carrier name and BIS. For example Verizon BIS.

Hello,

I have an SBS 2011 it works fine.

I would like to receive and send e-mails on my blackberry and don't want to

What do I do next?

RE: Two Domain Names on Exchange

Subject: RE: Two Domain Names on Exchange

Not without third-party software.

Exchange will always use your primary smtp address as the reply address if
you’re using Outlook and an RPC connection to Exchange.

I’ve heard of people setting up additional mailboxes with the additional
address as the primary, giving the user Send As permission on that mailbox, and
setting it to forward all the email to the user’s primary mailbox.

You can also send as a secondary address through POP.

Subject: Two Domain Names on Exchange

Does anyone know if you can have two Domain Names on Exchange and select from
Outlook which one to use?

Let me explain:

Company ABC.com has an Exchange server and everything is ok.

They recently created a new company DEF.com.

Both ABC.com and DEF.com is on the Exchange server.

Everyone has both user-mailto:user-n...@abc.comn...@abc.com and
user-n...@def.commailto:user-n...@def.com.

Some users have ABC.com Domain name as there default reply address and some
have DEF.com as there default reply address.

The problem there are a handful of users that has to switch between ABC.Com and
DEF.com as there reply address and if someone sends an e-mail to them on there
DEF.Com Domain it will automatically use that as there reply address or the
other way as well. Does anyone know if this is doable and if so how?

Thanks in advance.

A little googling will give you what you want, with the magic phrase probably
being static port assignments.

That being said - don't do it. It's a hassle, it makes swiss cheese out of your
firewall, and it isn't worth it. Exchange 2000/2003 were the only releases of
Exchange to support putting an FE in a DMZ; and it was probably a mistake for
them to support it.

Open the Exchange Management Shell, enter get-routinggroupconnector

Two Domains One Exchange Server

2008-10-30 Thread Lynden A. Philadelphia
Does anyone have any documentation on how to setup Two Domains with one
Exchange Server.

Company A and Company B Merged.
Both are Windows 2003 A/D.
There is an External Trust relationship between the two Domains.
Now Company A is installing an Exchange Server and Company B doesn't
want to buy there own.
How do we give access to Company B users?

Thanks in advance.
