All NavMSE and exchsrvr dirs, log dirs, data dirs.

MS KB has an excellent list.

Subject: NAV CE exclusions for Exchange servers?

The consensus seems to be that, to safely run Norton Anti-Virus Corporate
Edition on an Exchange server, the Exchange directories need to be
excluded. That makes sense, and I've heard it from the A/V guys at my
company too.

Can we develop a consensus on exactly which files and
directories need to be excluded?

Here's a first shot at the discussion:

For the following directories, do we exclude all files and directories
recursively? .. or just certain files?

?:\ExchSrvr\DSADATA
?:\ExchSrvr\IMCDATA
?:\ExchSrvr\INSDATA
?:\ExchSrvr\KMSDATA
?:\ExchSrvr\MDBDATA
?:\ExchSrvr\MTADATA

What about the WEBDATA directory?

What about the Q... direcories?

Thanks

Exchange 5.5 utility

2002-03-26 Thread Senter, John M
Title: Exchange 5.5 utility

There is a utility that will allow me to put in a SMTP address and it will show what mailbox has that address. I cannot find the documentation I had on that and want to know if anybody remembered the name. I believe it is on the resource kit but did not see a name that looked familiar.

Thanks

That
only works for true mailboxes. We have several Custom Recipients that have
2 addresses, the incoming and the outgoing. There was a utility that
allowed you to put in the smtp addresses and it would return the display
name.

Anyone running Antigen build 842 and having problems? We need to upgrade
(due to a problem with build 838), and just want to test the water before

RE: Resource mailboxes with 2000

2002-01-29 Thread Senter, John M

We did not want to have to create accounts to match the mailbox. If you
create a user account to go with the mailbox, how do you setup users or
groups to access the mailbox? Do you have to open the mailbox, as that user
or admin, and add the users/groups to the access list or does Exchange 2000
allow the admin to give more rights, other than Delegate, from the Admin
utility?

What do you mean by lose the resource mailboxes? If you're planning on
using the NTDSAtrb utility, this will (when used correctly) simply create a
new Windows 2000 account for your 5.5 resource mailbox. All you then need
to go is to grant access to the E2k mailbox again.

We are in the process of starting our 2000 migration investigation. One
thing that keeps coming up is that we will have to lose all of the resource
mailboxes that we have tied to a user or group. For those of you that have
already undergone this migration, what did you do with the resource
mailboxes? We use the Public Folders for all internal activity, but I have
not been able to get external e-mail to come into a public folder, I keep
getting errors about the system not having permissions to access the folder.
We turned off Anonymous access years ago, but I tried turning it on during
this test but still received the errors. Internal users could send to the
folders with no problems. Any suggestions on this would be greatly
appreciated.
