Event ID 9385 System Attendant cannot read membership of a group

2010-10-27 Thread Steve Roberts
My one remaining exchange server is giving the following error :

It is a member of the group below ?

Microsoft Exchange System Attendant failed to read the membership of the
universal security group '/dc=uk/dc=co/dc=pinstripe/dc=hq/ou=Microsoft Exchange
Security Groups/cn=Exchange Servers'; the error code was '8007203a'. The
problem might be that the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant does not have
permission to read the membership of the group.

If this computer is not a member of the group
'/dc=uk/dc=co/dc=pinstripe/dc=hq/ou=Microsoft Exchange Security
Groups/cn=Exchange Servers', you should manually stop all Microsoft Exchange
services, run the task 'add-ExchangeServerGroupMember,' and then restart all
Microsoft Exchange services.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I don't think so. There are many (easy) to crack NT passwords.

It is amazing how secure these NT,2000,XP machines are. That admin password
is very tough. If you lose it you might as well just toss the machine in the
river. No one can break those passwords without getting 100's of computers
running weeks at full steam.

So
here's a tough one for everyone...

Specs:
WIN2K(Advanced Server) SP1
Exchange 5.5 SP4
Running on HCL hardware(Dell)
1
bridgehead supporting 34 sites spread across the US

Scenario
1.) Client in site Missoula opens Outlook 2000(running on WIN98
SE).
2.) Client opens GAL and searches on name "User
X"
3.) Finds name "User X" and double clicks the
name
4.) Standard Screen comes up with all information about that user,
address, location, Title, etc.. etc.. Everything shows except for(Drum roll)
the ZIP Code
5.) Another user in say Seattle, where the main network is, tries the
same thing and can see the Zip(which existed all along).

Why is this happening?

Now the user in Missoula can go to another computer and might see
that ZIP code, but 5 minutes later may not.List Charter

RE: SBS exchange license problems

Disable licence manager. It is a pain in the bum!

Hi all,

I have a mysterious problem with SBS exchange licensing. I have upgraded
SBS to 4.5 more than year ago. After that I have purchased more client
licenses. Previously I had 10 client license, now I have 30 client license.
The problem is that I'm out of exchange licenses almost all the time. When
I connect to DC server from other nt server with license manager (it is not
possible with Sbs server) I see that there still are entry for old exchange
version 5.0 and it looks that the exchange is counting licenses from that
amount (10). It is not possible to modify that entry in license manager.
How can I remove the exchange 5.0 entry from license manager ? Or is there
any other way to fix the problem ?

Thanks in advance !

Rauno

Views in Exchange Server

2001-09-13 Thread Steve Roberts

One of the things that I'm trying to figure out before deploying Outlook
2000 is views. Even though I have turned off Autopreview in Office 2000
system policy I still find that the default view for message folders turns
this on.

I have used the mdbvu32.exe tool to look at mailboxes but is there any way I
could automate changing this view so that autopreview is turned off?

TIA
