Mailbox Permissions question

2010-06-03 Thread Wayne Dueck
An end user went on vacation and didn't set an OOF message so their manager
wants me to configure an OOF message on this account. I am getting an error -
You do not have permission to open this mailbox . . . . when I try to go into
it through OWA.
When I run the command Get-MailboxPermission -Identity "username" it shows that
I have FullAccess but it also has an entry that shows FullAccess that
IsInherited with a Deny being True. I don't know where this is coming from.
Where should I check for this setting to be coming from?

Exchange 2007 SP2 RU2
Windows 2003 R2 Ent.

Thanks,
-Wayne

No, not in the Domain Admin group. Not sure where it's getting inherited from.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Mailbox Permissions question

Ya, I could do that for this incident but I need to find out where that Deny is
coming from as it appears to be this way on all the databases.
Thanks,

RE: Mailbox Permissions question

2010-06-03 Thread Wayne Dueck
Yes. My account is listed several times. It is listed once with FullAccess
inherited and once not inherited with Deny being False and then it is listed
further down the list with FullAccess - IsInherited being True with Deny listed
as being True. I went ahead and re did the Add-MailboxPermission to add my
account. Interestingly, it did not change the output of the
Get-MailboxPermission command but I am now able to get into the account through
OWA.
Things that make you go . . . H . . . . .

SP2 modifies the schema. Is the account you are running the install as in the
Schema Admins group?

In a different thread yesterday, you mentioned that you were having some DNS
issues. Were they resolved? nslookups for the DC from the Exchange server
resolve ok?

MaxSendSize Question

2010-11-02 Thread Wayne Dueck
Exchange 2007 SP2 RU2

IIRC, when we used to create a new mailbox, it would have a max send and
receive size of 10MB by default. I have changed a few of the mailboxes to a
different send/receive size limit as requested by the customer. I just realized
that currently all newly created mailboxes are unlimited. Where do I configure
the default for newly created mailboxes back to 10MB?
Thanks,

Delayed messages

2010-12-01 Thread Wayne Dueck
We have a network device that sends PRTG email messages to an Exchange
distribution list. I am in the DL and receive the emails on time. One of the
recipients does not get all the emails. He will get a group of them all at once
sometimes 12 days later. He does not use any rules to move email into folders.
He has everything coming into his Inbox and takes care of each mail daily so
that’s why he notices when he has a group of unread email dating over the last
two weeks suddenly show up. I looked at the header for the message id and
looked at the transport logs and it shows Exchange receiving it, expanding the
DL and delivering the email all within seconds.
This has happened several times with the client using Outlook 2007 and has now
happened with Outlook 2010.
Exchange 2007 SP2 RU2
What troubleshooting steps should I take next?
Thanks for your help.

Meeting Request issue

2011-01-10 Thread Wayne Dueck
I have an unusual issue with Outlook and am not sure the next troubleshooting
steps.
 Exchange 2007 SP2 ru2
 Outlook 2007 SP2

I send a meeting request to UserA and UserA gets it but UserB and UserC
gets it also and I get an NDR back saying it's undeliverable to UserD which is
an IMCEAEX... type address. In the header section of the NDR, the "To" shows
the undeliverable to the IMCEAEX address and delivery to UserB and UserC(which
I didn't send it to) and nothing about UserA receiving it but I have verified
that she did receive it. The transaction logs back this up. They do not show a
'Deliver' to UserA. The 'Receive' event shows the IMCEAEX, UserB, UserC.

 - Happens with a meeting request (is repeatable)
 - Does not happen with email to this person
 - Does not happen with meeting requests to other people.
 - UserA account IsLinked = False
 - UserA says there might of been a rule to forward meetings at one time but
currently there are no rules
 - Checked UserA Active Directory object attributes for clues

Where do I go from here?
Thanks for your help,

RE: Exchange Issue w/ DC failure

2011-02-07 Thread Wayne Dueck
We have this issue also. We have Exchange 2007 SP2 with Outlook 2007 SP2 in one
AD site. The get-exchangeserver commmand shows that there are no static DC's or
GC's configured and also shows 4 Current DC's and GC's. I'm disappointed to
hear that 2010 does this also. Is it possible that there is something
misconfigured or is this operating as designed?

RE: Meeting Request Error

2011-02-25 Thread Wayne Dueck
Is her current account receiving the Meeting Requests? I had this issue a few
weeks back. The end user had configured an old account to be a delegate and to
forward "Meeting Requests" to the delegate account so the end user received the
meeting request even though the sender received the undeliverable. Clear as mud?

email headers

A programmer I work with has asked how to view email header info. I showed him

needs. He says that there is more information that is not being displayed. Is
there a way to view more header information?

Re: 2010 migration

2011-07-01 Thread Wayne Dueck
With Windows backup I had to backup the Active DB in our CCR cluster. Our 2010
plan is to have 2 DB copies onsite and one in a DR site. All of our Exchange
2010 servers are on VMware and we snapshot them nightly. Also, we use Quest's
Archive Manager so we have a copy of all mail there. That's our backup plan.

RE: 2010 migration

2011-07-06 Thread Wayne Dueck
The migration went very well. Would of been a non-event if I hadn't forgotten
about an internal firewall between our Oracle and Exchange servers but . . . .
today I am dismantling our 2007 systems and deleted the public folder because
it was only for Blackberry offline address book. Shortly after that, I started
getting phone calls about end users not being able to book conference rooms.
The error is -
Direct Booking
Cannot directly book a resource for this meeting.
I have Google'd it and found that if you mount the DB that holds the PF
everything is ok but I can't do that. I thought that Exchange 2007 didn't use
PF but there must be some tie to them still. Does anyone have any suggestions
on how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

RE: 2010 migration

2011-07-06 Thread Wayne Dueck
Created a new Public Folder, assigned it to the mailbox databases and the new
meeting requests now work. Exchange 2010 must still have a dependancy on public
folders. Don't know what a blank public folder has to do with booking a
resource but it works.

After migration issue

2011-07-15 Thread Wayne Dueck
We migrated from Exchange 2007 to 2010 the first weekend in July. We are using
Outlook 2007 SP2. Migration went good but since then we have nine users (out of
1000) that get an empty Inbox with a message something like "There are no items
to view" when there are actually items in their Inbox. Sometimes if they go to
another folder and come back to the Inbox, they will see the messages for a
second and then they go away and get that message.
Resetting their views fixes the problem temporarily but it keeps coming back
for these 9 people (so far).
To troubleshoot, I moved one mailbox to a different DB and then back. This
fixed the issue and it has not come back for that user. I could try this with
the other 8 mailboxes but I was wondering if someone had a better idea on what
we should do.
Thanks,

Re: Latest rollup for Exchange?

2012-06-05 Thread Wayne Dueck
If your Exchange server doesn't have internet access the following might occur -
When you install an update rollup package, Exchange tries to connect to the
certificate revocation list (CRL) Web site. Exchange examines the CRL list to
verify the code signing certificate. If Exchange can't connect to the CRL Web
site, the following symptoms may occur:

The installation takes a long time to complete.

Here is the technet article explaining it more

Exchange 2010 SP2 upgrade issue

2012-08-23 Thread Wayne Dueck
We are running Exchange 2010 SP1 ru3 with 2 HT/CAS servers, 1 CAS (OWA) and 3
Mailbox (DAG) servers. After taking care of the schema extension and AD
updates, I installed SP2 and ru4 on one of the HT/CAS servers last night and
now I can't run the BPA on the box. It launches and comes up with the "Updates
and Customer Feedback" page. The "Go to the Welcome screen" button is greyed
out as are the links to start a new scan on the left. Nothing is being reported
in the event log. Your suggestions are appreciated.
