RE: Additional Mailboxes

2001-08-17 Thread Shamim Rahman

I have already done this, I add the address for support in the from field.
The message gets sent ok but has my name and on behalf of support in the
from field when it is received. I was under the impression that there is a
solution to this, but don't now how!!

In the Outlook client click on VIEW, click on FROM FIELD, add the name of
the support mailbox to the from field. Click on SEND.

You have to do this for each outgoing message.

I set up a support mailbox and gave permissions to several users, but I have
two problems:

1. When any of these users send out mail from support (tests currently), the
messages seem to have the on behalf of in the
from field. Don't know how to get rid of this, I set all the specific
users up with Send As permission in the permissions tab.

2. I removed one of the users from the permissions tab, but that user can
still access the support mailbox.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Shamim

I have
already done this, I add the address for support in the from field.
The message gets sent ok but has my name and on behalf of support
in the
from field when it is received. I was under the impression that
there is a
solution to this, but don't now how!!

clarification:
you don't have to do the view/from field every time - once
you enable the from field, it'll be there all the time - you just
need to
put the right thing in the from field every time you send support
mail

In the
Outlook client click on VIEW, click on FROM FIELD, add the name of
the support mailbox to the from field. Click on SEND.

You have to
do this for each outgoing message.

I set up a
support mailbox and gave permissions to several users, but I have
two problems:

1. When any
of these users send out mail from support (tests currently), the
messages seem to have the on behalf of in the
from field. Don't know how to get rid of this,
I set all the specific

users up with Send As permission in the permissions
tab.

2. I removed
one of the users from the permissions tab, but that user can
still access the support mailbox.

Any help will
be appreciated.

Thanks

Shamim

Of
course, before making that change, it might be good to know what your org is
doing.

Reducing it to something too low can cause other congestion issues.

Single
server, 100 mailboxes, though. 120 minutes is
long.

Um - oh
yeah, there is that 2 hour delay for permissions to propagate. There is, however, a reg hack that you
can apply to your Exchange server to lessen that amount of time. We do it on all our
servers.

Thanks everybody for
your help,it nowseems to work fine!! It seems that the permissions
did not propagate until now ( there must be a time frame), hell it takes a long
time, even my second problem (where the user was able to view the support
mailbox although I had removed the permissions) is now
sorted.

Any thoughts on
this!

Cheers.
