We are about to deploy Exchange 2000 and I would like to get some
recommendations for content filtering products in order to
help cut down
on spam. I'm not sure if it matters, but we will be using
Trend Micro's
NeatSuite for virus protection. We are a fairly small firm

but the President of the company has begun receiving a lot of spam so
I'm trying to find options. I would like to find something reasonably
inexpensive.

Thanks for the help

Mail Marshal pretty much kicks ass, as an external mail gateway. They
also just released a product that will filter all mail on your
Exchange2000 box even between internal users.

(Yes, I am a reseller for this product, but it really does work

I wouldn't say that they include it with ScanMail, they provide the additional spam
support via the eManager piece. It cost us about 11k, which depends on the number of
mailboxes.

Re: RE: E-mail Content Filtering Recommendations

I believe that is purely a manual process. The emanager piece will update the spam
list automatically as well as letting you add specific ones. I have NOT seen the
signature alone catch 100% of spam. Also, emanager has much more content filtering
ability other than just spam.

Mail Marshal pretty much kicks ass, as an external mail gateway. They
also just released a product that will filter all mail on your
Exchange2000 box even between internal users.

(Yes, I am a reseller for this product, but it really does work
extremely well)

Anything that does the job well isn't cheap. We use eManager by Trend
and it does a fairly good job once you tweak it.

Actually, I do, but I do approach him a tad more diplomatically than

It also helps that he's an engineer.

RE: E-mail Content Filtering Recommendations

2002-06-20 Thread Martin Blackstone

Funny thing is that is how it works. It is amazing how many times a CEO has
told me he wants something and then when he finds out he has to pay,
suddenly it isn't as important to have it.

Now days when someone tells me they want something, the first thing I do is
find out what it will cost and let them know before I waste any more time.

Actually upon pricing it, it was closer to 3K, but bottom line was that they
really didn't want to pay anything. They just wanted to go quietly away.

What I did end up doing what using a copy of Webshield we already owned. At

Sorry if I offended anyone. I am new to this list, and it seems a
