RE: Fax solution for E2K and Exchange 5.5

2002-03-26 Thread Dennis Atherton

For enterprise use, and multiple servers in multiple locations, I still
recommend RightFax.

With DID forwarding, just keeps working.

Also has FaxBack / Fax-on-Demand also integrated into product, with a single
Library of documents that can he attached to outgoing faxes.

Implemented 3 times, and love it.

I need something stable, reliable, and low administration

RE: Fax solution for E2K and Exchange 5.5

2002-03-26 Thread Dennis Atherton

My first install was with 4.5 on OS/2.

I went to training at their site, and with that got to talk to the internal
people. I have found support really good, and really didn't have many
issues.

We had 12 phone lines - 4 DID and the rest analog. Ran both Fax Back and
faxing, with the CC:Mail connector to start, then Exchange 5.5 connector.

Now running ver6 here, and going to implement another server locally here in
next 2 months.

I love
GFi products personally, but on something that size you may want to look at the
castelle (sp?) product which I think is a turnkey type product. I dont know how
many faxlines you are looking at, but for 8000 people I would think 100 or so as
a quick guess. By the time you put 4 dialog cards in a server (24 chans/ea) for
96 ports configured it and put all the overhead on you may be better off with a
more stand alone type product..

I concur with Dennis... For an enterprise solution it has some nice features. We even went with 800 numbers for all our users.. It was actually cheaper than a Bridged/Routed solution using Rightfax servers/brooktrout cards and the WAN. But I know RightFax can do that and it works well.

And NO, I'm not getting any kickbacks from Captaris.grin

Also
keep the logic of "you never want an inbound fax to be busy". Outbounds can be
backlogged as most software packages deal with that no problem.
With our load we went with the Brooktrout T-1 cards. It's great, you can
plug your T-1 directly into it and configure the channels in any method needed
for all lines. Associate all the dial-in lines/numbers to that T-1 and off it
runs. Just make sure your WAN vendor knows this is for fax lines so they can set
the WINK and CIRCUIT TIMING correctly on the T-1. The Brooktrout can also bridge
with other like cards and RightFax will see and allow configuration in any
manner wanted/needed. Brooktrouts web site has complete documents on
how this should be configure for your local TELCO to follow.

good
stuff..

Re: Fax solution for E2K and Exchange 5.5

2002-03-26 Thread Don Andrews

We run a dozen or so distributed RightFAX servers (not exchange
environment) with LCR and are quite happy. Have had good luck with
their tech support. We are currently at a mixture of vsn 6.0 and 7.0.
Most of our volume is outbound from a variety of apps.
