Re: Why how what can be done

2002-02-08 Thread Patrick Rouse

I just did this on an XP Pro machine with my GPO that doesn't let people
browse the network they still can't. Let me check my GPO exact settings
for you.

OK here it is in a nut shell!!
 1) I have set up a GPO that specifies the users can't browse my network =
(no computers near me no entire network) This worked great. I tested =
this in no way was the user able to browse my network for computers or =
 users.

2)In the same GPO I also specified that the users My Documents are to be =
redirected to a HIDDEN share on a server.
 3) WE merged from SendMail to Exchange. Now they can browse the network =
through outlook. Heres how how can I prevent this

open outlook go to VIEW select Outlook Bar Folder List.

On the Outlook Bar (Outlook shortcuts) click the Other short cuts tab.

I see a folder with my logon name. If you do to click on it.=20

This shows all of your MY Documents.

Now look at the Folder List scroll up down. I see all my users all =
 computers on my network.=20

Why is this how can I prevent this?

Ok, here's my settings that I think prevent this.

User Config\Admin Templates\Start Menu Taskbar\Remove Network
Connections from Start Menu

User Config\Admin Templates\Start Menu Taskbar\Remove My Network Places
from Start Menu

User Config\Admin Templates\Desktop\Hide My Network Places from Desktop

User Config\Admin Templates\Desktop\Do Not add Shares of recently opened
files to My Network Places

Not really, however I wouldn't loose any sleep over it either. What is it
you're trying to accomplish?

I'd love to be able to disable the Outlook Bar alltogether, it seems kind
of pointless. Is there anything the Outlook Bar can do that the Folder
List can't?

Not that I'm aware of. But guess it's user preference.
