RE: Calendar Problem

2002-04-12 Thread Mommens, Matt

I have run into this on our Resource Calendars. For us, it came down to
corrupt reoccurrence information in one of the meetings. To fix it, I
opened the calendar with a legacy client (exchange client) and moved the
calendar folder to a PST. Then I had outlook recreate the Calendar folder
by opening outlook with the /resetfolder switch. Then from the exchange
client I began moving appointments back into the calendar until I found the
one that was corrupt (also have the mailbox open with Outlook and the
processor will spike when it is moved in). Recreate that item and all is
good.

Subject: Calendar Problem

User running Outlook 98 connects to Exchange 5.5 SP4 server. Since
yesterday every time they click on the calendar it will cause Outlook to
hang. The CPU spikes to 100 and Outlook shows that it is not responding.
They are still receiving email, but anything to do with the calendar will
just hang Outlook. The only thing that I know changed yesterday is we
removed some old accounts off the server. They had all been hidden for some
time so I know no one was using them, but they could have had an old meeting
scheduled with one of them. I wouldn't think this would cause Outlook to
hang though. If the user connects through OWA everything works fine. She
can see her calendar and use it without issues. If someone else tries to
open her calendar (one of her delegates) it will cause their Outlook to just
hang as well. I have tried searching the knowledge base but could not find
anything. I was hoping that someone had seen something like this before and
could help me out. I appreciate it, John

RE: Calendar Problem

2002-04-12 Thread John

I don't get any error message. It will just hang and the CPU will peg
out. The only time I got a message is when I tried to export the calendar
to a PST. I got a message saying, "One or more recipients in this item
were not usable. You need to recreate the addresses. Could not complete
the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid." After I
clicked OK it continued exporting. That made me think that one of the
items was corrupt in the calendar so I archived the calendar telling it to
delete anything older than a month. I still could not get into the
calendar but when I exported it to a PST again I did not get that message.

You may have a corrupted calendar. Do you get an Operation Failed message

RE: Calendar problem

2002-04-02 Thread Graham Cathcart

Rodney,

I had a similar problem only with Exchange 2000 and Outlook 2000

David Michel came up with this solution which worked for me:

"Open Outlook for the secretary and remove the CEO's mailbox from
opening then close it. Then go into Outlook for the CEO and remove all
permissions from the delegates tab. Next, right-click each individual
folder in the folder list and remove any permissions set here. The
exception is that you want to make sure the "Folder Visible" tab is
checked on the "Outlook Today" permissions tab for whoever you want to
see the contents. After you remove all permissions go back to the
Delegates tab for the CEO and re-add the secretary with whatever rights
you want. Lastly, go back to the secretary and open Outlook using the
/cleanviews switch and then re-add the CEO's mailbox to open. This
worked for me so hopefully it works for you."

Obviously just substitute CEO and secretary with your two users...Might
be worth a try

Cheers

Graham

Hi All,
This user is having a problem with his calendar. It seems that all his
appointments are disappearing as time goes by. Basically, what happens
is
as the week goes by, his items will disappear. For example, it's tuesday
and all his items on monday have been deleted and they are in the
deleted
items folder. When it's wednesday, all the items on tuesday are moved to
the deleted items folder. If I do a restore from the deleted items
folder,
those items will stay in his calendar.
The system is Exchange 5.5 and the client is outlook 2000. Now, I have
to
specify that there is a delegate to the user as well who does the
modifications to the calendar. This problem started about 2 weeks ago
and
nothing has been changed. I checked out the rules and there is nothing
in
the rules that should delete those calendar items.
If anyone has ideas, please advise.
Thank you,
