Actually, with the newest version of Crossover Office (just released the other day) IE 5 is now an officially supported program. And of course Office works under Crossover Office. Re: [expert] Any idea how to watch TV using a Voodoo3 3500TV?
I used to use this card and had TV working once. I found a driver in development on Sourceforge. Just go there and type in 3500 and you should find it. Just to warn you, it wasn't the easiest thing to set up. From what I remember I had to download and compile the code from CVS then insert the various modules. It's not horrible but it's more than just installing an RPM. Vince On Wed, 2002-06-12 at 22:04, Barry Michels wrote: > What program would be needed to render the video? [expert] X startup problems
Hey there, My girlfriend's doing an internship at UW-Madison this summer and, as she's staying in the dorms, I figured I'd give her my computer so she could access email and everything while she's not at work (ok, so I just wanted to go visit and download things at extremely fast speeds ;) ). Anyway, I went and set up the machine, everything was working fine. Now, however, when she attempts to log in she receives the following message: startup program /etc/X11/xdm/GiveConsole exited with non-zero status Anyone able to tell me why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Vince P.S. Sorry if anyone receives two copies of this. I sent it yesterday and have yet to see it go through to the list.

Re: [expert] SBLive! support in 7.0
SBLive support in 7 is extremely easy. All I had to do was run soundconfig and choose the card, it then autoprobe's it and attempts to play a test file. That was all there was to it for me. You can also configure it through Lothar if you prefer. Vince
[expert] Dictionary file location?
Sorry if this is a low level question but a friend of mine asked me the other day where the dictionary file that *nix operating systems use to compare passwords against for security is located. I realized I'm not sure. I never really had a reason to look for it. So, where is this file located? Also, is it simply a text file? Thanks, Vince
[expert] Iomega SCSI Card problem
I have an Iomega ISA Zip Accellerator SCSI card. This card is adaptec 152x compatible but I can't seem to get it to work. I installed Mandrake 7 yesterday and selected the Adaptec 152x card. I'm not exactly sure what to use for options, though. I check the Windows settings of the card and it says IO 0140 - 015f, IRQ 12 in the System control panel. The Mandrake instructions say to enter this in the options as io= and irq=. So, I entered io=x0140 (which is what the Windoze system diagnostics shows the IO as) and irq=12. However, the module still fails to load. So, I tried it the way redhat shows - aha152x=io,irq,scsi id. This still fails. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd really like to get this working. TIA, Vincent Colombo
