[expert] 2.4.22-23mdkcustom and strange ext3
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hallo, I've found a strange habit on the ext3-module in 2.4.22-23mdkcustom: When booting only my /-partition is mounted as ext3, the other partitions are mounted as ext2 with the following message: mounted /dev/hda5 on /mnt/linux as ext2 for linux22 Also in /etc/mtab they are shown as ext2. In the fstab they are listed as ext3. But the strangest is: after a umount /mt/linux2 mount /mnt/linux2 they are mounted as ext3 (seen in mtab). I believe it's something with the module-loads on startup, but why the /-partition is mounted correctly? [expert] APM problem
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I've a problem with the APM standby mode on Mandrake 9.1... With the new 2.4.22-9mm-kernel ACPI doesn't work on my machine (HP A872, Via Apollo Pro) so I decided to use APM... So far so good, I compiled new without ACPI but with APM, and APM standby even works. BUT: Only one times, when Linux is started I can send the comp to sleep with APM - --standby, I even can wake it up again by pressing a key, so everything works fine, but I can't send it again to standby after I had done one times. He tries but wakes up immediately. It doesn't crash my system down, or something bad. But why can I use the standby mode only one times? I believe it's somethings with some services or something with the suspend scripts... But I got to thinking about this particular p4 and his comment about 'hyperthreading' - apparently the hw divvies up the cpu into two cpus and he would have to reinstall the os to get it to work. I'm kinda curious to see what a linux kernel would see -- one or two cpus? With 2.4.19 I had (As many others too.) big problems with supermount...it lost contact to a mounted drive after a few minutes. So you possibly should update to a 2.4.21. Hallo folks, with gdm and gdmflexiserver I can login more than one user can login into a X11-session. But how can I reach that more than one user could use sound? When one user is logged in already the second one only get's a message that he hasn't the permission to access the mixer or /dev/dsp or similar (depends on program). Did you set the java option correcly? i means where java is and java plugins I would say yes, because I found out, that running Konqueror in KDE works fine hand in hand with java, but when I run Konqueror from Enlightenment than java opens new windows, but except this it works... So it's possibly a problem with the Enlightenment 16.5 (Yes I have activated KDE-Support.) Let's see what e16.6 or even e17 brings... Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft?
