Not sure I understand, John. M$ (plain vanilla) HTML worked okay before FP. I think I probably wrote what Scott said wrong. He said that SSI's, like counters, won't display properly in an FP page without the FP stuff in his server too. He runs Apache. FWIW, I noticed when I ftp'd to the new server it had 6-8 FP files in my account, which I happily deleted. FP is just one more reason to embrace Tux, imho. Tell him to switch to CGI counters. :-) As far as SSL (Secure Socket Layer), using SSL to upload a web page will NOT work with plain Apache. It *does* require FP. However, we get by just fine by letting users design in FP, and either use FP's built-in FTP client to upload or upload via a standalone FTP client. :-) John

John, Can you lend a hand, please? Scott runs Apache under FreeBSD. I don't understand *serverspeak*. Scott is paraplegic so physical tinkering with the sys is not possible by him. I asked him if he would dump FP if there was a viable workaround. He said in a second if the solution was compatible and secure. As far as I understand SSI (not much) he does use CGI-bin. Scott is a terrific guy that works very hard to give clients the best possible service and still keep the server secure. Apparently, it is a neverending task. As long as you aren't using the PROPRIETARY FP extensions in your web design, you can just ftp the files/directories over manually, or use Front Page's FTP to move 'em over. John

Does anyone know what is required so that you can use Frontpage 98 to develop pages for an Apache server. I need to be able to post my pages out of Frontpage onto a Apache server. Thanks in advance..
