[expert] apache httpd.conf access.conf srm.conf

2002-01-08 Thread Jean-Paul Chavant

Hello,

In apache there are 3 configuration files

- httpd.conf
- srm.conf
- access.conf

Since version 1.3.x apache accepts all the directives in only one
file : httpd.conf.

However if the files access.conf and srm.conf are not empty they are
read bye apache ?

In the affirmative, and if there are directives conflicts or
differences between httpd.conf and srm.conf or access.conf, how it
works ?

No, in version 1.3.x, apache 'deprecated' srm.conf and access.conf . This
does not mean that it does not accept directives from them, but it is
strongly suggested not to use them. That being said, in the default
Mandrake configuration, srm.conf and access.conf do not exist, and actually
are not set up as 'includes' in the main httpd.conf file.

So, even if you created them, they would not be read, unless you really
wanted to do some editing in the httpd.conf file to get apache to read them.
