Re: [expert] ppp from user accounts doesn't work
First ... Sorry for attaching this to another thread... brain fart. Second. I'll look at partimage. Since the original drive is Rieser I may be limited. Thanks James On 19 Mar 2002 19:10:30 +1100 Brian Parish [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Well Ghost is not just for the Windows world. It certainly handles ext2. You may like to contact me off list for more specific info on that. There is also partimage, which I think is supposed to handle Reiser and maybe others. I couldn't get it to recognise any of mine though, but I didn't perservere beyond a quick look. Brian On Tue, 2002-03-19 at 16:44, James wrote: Ok I took the plunge and bought a monster drive today. I have tried this: a+rx /usr/sbin/{pppd,chat} chmod a+rw /dev/tts/LT0 (My Lucent based WinModem) chmod u+s /usr/sbin/pppd but it doesn't work. The problem turned out to be the permissions for the wvdial executable itself. I set it suid root and it worked (probably not a good idea security wise, but this is a laptop only used by me).
