[FairfieldLife] Old News: Luminary?

2005-09-03 Thread cardemaister

Deepak Chopra - Another Enlightened Luminary Appears at What the
BLEEP Conferences

Filmmaker Betsy Chasse and the rest of the BLEEP crew were delighted
to have special guest speaker Deepak Chopra join the growing list of
influential scientists, physicians, healers and metaphysicians from
around the world who have participated in the What the BLEEP/Prophets
Conferences this year. Deepak fascinated his audience with his talk
entitled Unlocking the Hidden Dimensions in Your Life. Betsy
discussed her journey from shoe consciousness to spirituality.
Hundreds of conference attendees had the chance to screen and comment
upon the upcoming Rabbit Hole version of the movie – thus joining
the filmmakers in the amazing process of bringing a new film into
reality. (You'll have to wait until the first of the year to see the
end product however!) The beautiful and stately Benson Hotel in
downtown Portland was literally ringing with the wonderful vibe that
everyone there contributed to. And once again, many attendees said
the conference was a life-changing event. Only two more
opportunities to go this year!

I still haven't seen the film because I haven't run
into a copy here in Paris, but I'm not surprised at
its success. The producer of the flick (a friend
from the Rama trip) has an *amazing* ability to turn
anything he touches into a financial success.

My favorite Bill Arntz story concerns a car. He had
some money from childhood roles in movies and TV, and
invested some of it in a flashy collector car, a
Lamborghini Countach, which he loved dearly. Later,
when trying to make his computer company a success,
the company got into a cash crunch so he sold the
car to raise capital. Within a year, the company was
so successful that he sold it to CA for many millions
of bucks, and then went looking for a replacement for
his Lamborghini. Searching the ads in the flash car
magazines, he found his old car up for sale. And he
managed to buy it back, for *less* than he sold it
for. So he managed to turn a profit even on *that*
transaction.

I'm still not convinced about the Ramtha thang he's
into now, but I do admire his magic touch with money.
What the bleep indeed. :-)

It occurs to me, having watched Risky Business
again last night to write a review of it, that
the magic in this story is in a way related to
what the bleep. The spiritual lesson of Risky
Business is clear -- sometimes you've just got
to say What the fuck and take a chance. If you
hold onto what you've got and get all anal-retentive
about normality, nothing new and interesting
happens in your life. Let it go, and doorways
into new and interesting places open for you.

In its way, it's like the theoretical basis of the
Siddhis. Unlike the New Age idea of visualizing
your goals and focusing on them one-pointedly, you
just come up with a subtle intention and let it go.

[FairfieldLife] Petition for Non Chinese workers in Taiwan

2005-09-03 Thread taiwan teacher
Please help the people on Taiwan.
Sign this petition.

http://www.petitiononline.com/migrants/petition.html

Late on Sunday August 21, 2005 a violent riot erupted
by more than 1,600 ethnic, migrant workers building a
mass transit railway project in Kaohsiung Taiwan.
Workers set fire to their dormitory in southern
Taiwan, burnt cars and hurled rocks at police after
some were apprehended.
There are estimated between 300,000 to 500,000 migrant
workers on Taiwan many of whom are tricked into
working on Taiwan with offers of lucrative jobs only
to find themselves as slaves to contractors and
agents on Taiwan.

Below is a petition the the Director General Juan
Somaviaf of the International Labour Organization to
immediately take appropriate actions to investigate
the ongoing atrocities being perpetrated by the
Taiwanese against ethnic minority workers on Taiwan.

http://www.petitiononline.com/migrants/petition.html

To: The Honorable, Director General Juan Somaviaf of
the International Labour Organization

We, the undersigned organizations, institutions,
churches and individuals appeal to the Director
General Juan Somaviaf of the International Labour
Organization to immediately take appropriate actions
to investigate the cause of the most recent violent
riot by ethnic, migrant workers that erupted late on
Sunday August 21, 2005 by more than 1,600 migrant
workers building a mass transit railway project in
Kaohsiung Taiwan.
We demand that Council of Labor Affairs Chairwoman
Chen Chu (ÄĵÆ) be removed and expelled from that
position for her gross dereliction of her duties.
Specifically to timely investigate and provide
appropriate assistance to the hundreds of thousands of
migrant workers currently in the Taiwan area.
We are appealing to the Director General Juan Somaviaf
of the International Labour Organization to
investigate the current maltreatment of migrant
workers in the Taiwan area and to refer said findings
to the International Court of Justice.
We call for the formation of an independent oversight
institution composed of migrant workers in the Taiwan
area to take positive actions to prevent further
violence as well as extend free, timely, appropriate
and full assistance to all distressed migrant workers.
Labor standards for migrant workers in the Taiwan area
fall below the
minimum standards of basic labor rights in terms of
freedom of association, the right to organize,
collective bargaining, equality of opportunity and
treatment, housing, facilities for recreation,
cultural expression and other standards regulating
conditions across the entire spectrum of work related
issues.
We seek the promotion of social justice and
internationally recognized human and labor rights for
all migrants in the Taiwan area. The decision to
migrate, in the same way as the decision to authorize
or not to authorize migration for employment is an
rational decision, based on knowledge of the
conditions of work and life in the areas of employment
and is needed to remedy general or sectoral labor
shortages.
Provisions for the protection of migrant workers do,
themselves, have effects on the protection of the
entire workforce that in protecting migrant workers
against exploitation and stipulating first and
foremost the principle of equality of treatment,
followed by equality of opportunity and treatment with
non migrant workers.
The powers that be, in the Taiwan area fail to
implement instruments and fulfill their obligation to
apply, without discrimination in respect of
nationality, race, religion or sex, to immigrants
lawfully within Taiwan area.
We demand the protection of human rights for all
migrant workers and an end to state sponsored
discrimination, contemporary forms of slavery,
indentured servitude and forced labor in the Taiwan
area.
Director General, the time to act is now. Migrants'
rights are human rights!

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

[FairfieldLife] Why is the Red Cross not in New Orleans?

2005-09-03 Thread authfriend
From the Hurricane Katrina section of the Disaster FAQs
on the Red Cross's Web site:

Hurricane Katrina: Why is the Red Cross not in New Orleans?

Acess to New Orleans is controlled by the National Guard and local
authorities and while we are in constant contact with them, we simply
cannot enter New Orleans against their orders.

The state Homeland Security Department had requested--and continues
to request--that the American Red Cross not come back into New
Orleans following the hurricane. Our presence would keep people from
evacuating and encourage others to come into the city.

The Red Cross could have gotten food and water
and medical and other supplies into New Orleans
*long* before yesterday, when the first supplies
were sent in under the aegis of the National
Guard and the feds.

Some people have died and many thousands more have
endured incredible suffering, in other words, in
order to force them to evacuate.

The mind boggles.

Is Bush to Blame for New Orleans Flooding?
He did slash funding for levee projects. But the Army Corps of
Engineers says Katrina was just too strong.

I don't think it's productive to argue whether bush is responsible for
the flood or not, but this situation does highlight the value of
having pragmatic government, not idealistic government. Anit-bushers
need to realize that gov't cannot solve all problems and pro-bushers
need to realize gov't is not the enemy of the people.

Putting federal money to good use for the Corps in NOLA would not only
save lives and suffering but greatly safeguard the economy (notice the
price of gas this weekend). Keeping FEMA properly funded and in good
leadership (not putting a lawyer buddy in charge) will save american
lives and safeguard the economy. Are all the true-red voters in
mississippi wanting to keep the gov't off their backs this week?

Being idealistically pro or anti government is ridiculous, it's a case
by case pragmatic situation.

What irks me about the bush admin. is that they fight like crazy to
deny NOLA Corps. funding for yrs (stupid conservative) but go ahead
and spend $500 million on 2 bridges to nowhere in Alaska (stupid liberal).

He's still receiving food and water and seems quite content. He's received

Apparently a lot of the havoc at the convention center was addicts coming

underwater. The police are slowly sorting out the troublemakers and order
slowly returning.

Finally heard from another friend north of NOLA. She seemed shocky. She's
a nurse so the stuff she was seeing and hearing you just don't see with the
TV people lingering over the same areas. Entire towns have disappeared--not
a thing left. Doctors in the hospitals which lost electricity watched
patients die and could do nothing. She just told story after story, but I

Off on retreat. See ya later.

Staging always begins OUTSIDE the disaster area. The staging plan was to
proceed in--then the flooding came which changed the way they had to
react--and unfortunately they have no control over flooding. That's the real
reason things are occurring. Stop looking for a conspiracy, where there is
none.

In general Red Cross volunteers, which is what most these people are, are
older people (often retirees) who will not be allowed to be put in harms
way. They will not venture into dangerous areas (with few exceptions).

I heard a weather expert predict 11 more hurricanes this

Re: [FairfieldLife] Re: The TV / Anger / Hurt Somebody /TV /Anger / Hurt Somebody Cycle

2005-09-03 Thread Peter
People, in general, have a lot of pent-up rage and
grief. If you've ever worked with actors or are one
yourself, you'll notice that the easiest emotion to
access are rage and grief. Events are triggers that
open these floodgates of hysteria. I'm sure Geraldo
was quite surprised by his reaction.

There is a certain energy, that feeds on itself, in

You can see, in the reporters, who are on the scene
 in New Orleans,
especially, that they pick up on the anger, rage,
 death,
 frustration, dispair, and so on.
I saw Geraldo Rivera, last night on Fox, have a
 complete emotional
breakdown, holding a baby, and crying for help.
It becomes addicting, like an adrenaline rush, to
 watch, and comment
 on an event of this magnatude;
But at some point, it is always good to find balance
 and peace again;
 And take a walk, as has been suggested here;
And use some time, to absorb the event and all of
 the emotions of
 what happened;
And use the energy in a positive way, by feeling how
 it has changed
 you.

Who's talking conspiracy?? It's a fact that FEMA made the tactical
decision to keep the Red Cross out. Whether that was wise or not will
be debated for awhile.

In general Red Cross volunteers, which is what most these people
are, are
older people (often retirees) who will not be allowed to be put in harms
way. They will not venture into dangerous areas (with few exceptions).

The Red Cross is the most experienced, professional disaster relief
organization in the world that responds directly to these situations
all the time, often being the first people to respond.

As part of their operations they organize local volunteers to help out
and will not allow them in harm's way, but that's different from the
core organization which is composed of highly trained full-time
professionals. Go to some of their websites and see the job openings
for people with medical or organizational experience.

Sometime this weekend you'll see a huge mother of a Red Cross ship
come into NOLA port to provide medical relief, you can bet that ship
is not navigated and populated with retirees.

[FairfieldLife] Y-B-C Approved for crash jump start

2005-09-03 Thread Tom Pall
I've just received approval for the Vedic by Choice crash jump start.
I'll receive a full planetary and yagyna analysis, but the likelihood
is that I will reach the turning point during or soon after this first
month. I'm told it might take upwards to 3 months for full effects of
the massive program done this month to be realized. I'll be eligible
for intentional yagyas perhaps by October or November. in the
Fulfullment program there's enough money paid to cover 3-4 small
intentional yagyas which are performed when the jyotishi say the time
is right. There is the ability to upgrader to grander yagyas.

I'm going off the list again and unless something timely happens, like
the NOLA event, I'll stay off the list until it's time to report my
next step in Y-B-C.

Bye.

Now according to Geraldo and Shep Smith last night who
absolutely threw a crying fit on TV, they say People are NOT being allowed to
evacuate. everybody is being told where to go, usually the convention center or
Dome where they will be evacuated from . Once they get there, they are not
allowed to leave. They are forced to stay. So there is no coercion to force
people to leave the city to seek help, it's just the opposite. The National
Guard doesn't want tens of thousands of people in all conditions walking the
highways and roads where they can not be picked up easily or delivered food and
water while they wait for evacuation. It will probably be testy today also
because once they do start evacuating they will give first priority to the sick
and elderly and the very young and that may be time consuming to get them out
first.

 Thanks.

This group has been around for a while. That's what they're saying at
their Web sites. I thought they were just another meditation group,
however, when I began reading the experiences column, the stories
people shared are impressive. If I decide to check them out, I'll give
FFL a report. Here's another site: http://onenessuniversity.org/news.htm

He did slash funding for levee projects. But the Army Corps of

A comment I didn't see here from the Army Corps of Engineers is that
they might be having an easier time pumping the water out than they are
now, even if the levees still would have failed.

A proposal was considered and rejected to spend $5 billion making the levee
system capable of withstanding a Category 5, which happens only once every
300-500 years. Now it will cost at least $100 billion to repair the damage.
A lot less than the Iraq war though.

 he's talking about.

Well, you know, I haven't seen him doing anything
that I'd even remotely classify as exposing some
corrupt activity. What I've seen him do is report
on what he's seeing in front of his nose, and showing
it to the audience on camera. I guess he does know
what he's talking about, because what he says and
what we see match up quite nicely.

My wife and some other Red Cross people who are watching FOX just
shake there heads--this guy has no clue.

Perhaps you've seen some special segments I've
missed in which he was exposing some corrupt
activity.

 Hey, it boosts ratings guess

I think you may have missed what I pointed out
about Fox's coverage on this leaning in quite a
different direction from their usual, and from
the usual predilections of their audience. If
I were a knee-jerk right-winger, I think I'd be
outraged that they were daring to show stuff that
didn't automatically put the government in the
best of all possible lights.

, but it's
sad that many, like yourself, will actually accept what he 'pines as
 truth.

When he 'pines about people suffering--which is
about all I've seen him do these last few days--
and we *see* them suffering, yes, I'll accept
that what he says is the truth.

Of course, it's not just him by any means; he's
just particularly forceful in his delivery. The
same things are being shown and the same observations
being made everywhere I've looked on the tube, in all
the newspapers, on the blogs, including the blogs
containing posts from individuals who've been
trapped there in New Orleans about what they're
experiencing.

But I guess, as far as you're concerned, it's all
a huge conspiracy to make what's happening seem
far worse than it really is, right?

*long* before yesterday, when the first supplies
were sent in under the aegis of the National

Some people have died and many thousands more have
endured incredible suffering, in other words, in
order to force them to evacuate.

 The mind boggles.

Now according to Geraldo and Shep Smith last night who absolutely
threw a crying fit on TV, they say People are NOT being allowed to
evacuate. everybody is being told where to go, usually the
convention center or Dome where they will be evacuated from . Once
they get there, they are not allowed to leave. They are forced to
stay. So there is no coercion to force people to leave the
city to seek help, it's just the opposite.

You don't quite get it, as usual. They are forcing them
to evacuate *their* way.

 The National Guard doesn't want
tens of thousands of people in all conditions walking the highways
and roads where they can not be picked up easily or delivered food
and water while they wait for evacuation.

If they had been delivered food and water while
they were waiting, that would be one thing. But
they weren't, not until late yesterday, when many
of them had been without food and water and
medical attention for three or four days.

The point is, the Red Cross *could* have supplied
those necessities for them while they were waiting
to be evacuated, had the Red Cross been allowed in.
