How do you know the TMO obviously worries about the content of his
films?

Hate to rain on your parade, but that's a body double
for Catherine Deneuve through most of the scene.

I'd just like to see them teach TM at a reasonable price. :-) That'd
be alternative enough for me.
And stay out of all the other stuff.

Is Tom the older or younger brother?

There was a fascinating show on TV the other day (20/20? I forget
which one...) and, apparently, research conclusively shows that if
you are male, the more older brothers you have, the greater the
probability that you will be gay.

One of the theories given for this on the show is (and I hope I am
representing this correctly) is that the XY chromosome which is what
distinguishes a male from a female (women are XX) is a "foreign"
substance to a woman when she is carrying a male child in her womb.
As a result, her body secretes a kind of "antibody" to counter-act
this foreign substance each time she carries a male child and, over
time, this builds up. And this antibody will diminish
the "maleness" of the XY and increase the feminine qualities of the
male child.

Well, I don't worry about the content of his films because I enjoy
them so much...but, guess what? The TMO obviously worries about it
and that's my point.

[FairfieldLife] Re: Lynch Day

2006-03-25 Thread anonyff
I don't know where the anti-gay sentiment in the movement came from. I
never thought it came from MMY but I don't know. There were several
very obviously gay men on my ttc many many years ago, they would wear
tuxedos and one of the guys walked in a very very obvious way.
However, I don't know if, in Maharishi's world, he had enough
experience to know (this was 1971) about this gay thing.

I had some a friend who was about half way through his Masters degree
at MIU who got kicked off the program and off campus when someone made
it a point to let the administration know he was gay. This was in the
late 70s.

Why, my dear man, would you assume that lesbians bum me out

Indeed, I think the "this bed is big enough for the two of us" scene
from "Mulholland Drive" surpassed the Catherine Deneuve/Susan
Sarandon scene from "The Hunger" as cinema's all-time best lesbian
scene.

It is the hypocracy of the TMO that bums me out and I'd love to see
someone shove the lesbian scene into their face and see them come to
terms with it.

I think that's the case because it was even hard hearing their
applause as well...and I know they must have been applauding because
when he finished (right before his encores) people stood up and you
could see they wildly clapping although you couldn't hear it...

What impressed me most was the professionalism in his guitar
playing: crisp, clear, and none of that scratchiness I hear so often
when acoustic guitars are played -- you know, the scratchy sound one
hears when the guitar players left hand (for right-handed players)
moves along the strings as he is changing cords or changing finger
position.

Too often in live concerts I notice a total disconnect between the
original recording and what is being played live...and even though
Donovan was playing without accompaniment, his single instrument
playing more than satisfactorily represented all the other missing
instruments that were on the original recordings.

How about Chloe Sevigny from "Brown Bunny"?

If you included Joni because you thought she practices
TM or was favorable towards it, you'd better find a
replacement musician. Neither was true as of about
three years ago.

Tommy Roth is gay and lives in San Francisco. He left Purusha many
years ago to *come out*-saw a Jyotishi to find out the best time to
*come out* and somehow-I guess because he comes from the famous Roth
family, it's okay for him to be gay and recertified.

He runs a very successful gay travel agency right on Castro Street in
San Francisco In addition, he has stimulated quite a bit of TM related
activity in SF as well.

Here's some links to his companies
http://www.gaytravelnews.com/
http://www.communitymarketinginc.com/tagaccommodations.cfm

Here's a quote by him from a different website:

"Tom Roth, president of Community Marketing, notes, "Gays and lesbians
tend to have more discretionary income, as very few have the expenses
of child-rearing.

But Roth also says that vacations offer a different kind of escape for
homosexuals.

"There's often a need to get away, to be in an environment where you
feel comfortable being open" about your sexuality, he says."

BA in Psych and Philosophy, the MA is automatically handed out to
Cambridge BA holders without doing any more work upon payment of a
small fee after 7 years:

MAs in Oxford, Cambridge and Dublin
The universities of Oxford, Cambridge and Dublin award masters
degrees to BAs without further examination, where seven years after
matriculation have passed, and (in some but not all cases) upon
payment of a nominal fee. It is commonplace for recipients of the
degree to have graduated several years previously and to have had
little official contact with the university or academic life since
then. The only real significance of these degrees is that they
historically conferred voting rights in University elections, it was
seen as the point at which one became eligible to teach at the
University and certain other privileges e.g. the right to dine at
the holder's college's high table. They still do confer some
restricted and rarely used voting rights. The MAs awarded by Oxford
and Cambridge are colloquially known as the Oxbridge MA, and that
from Dublin as the Trinity MA, and would be usually distinguished
respectively: MA (Oxon.), MA (Cantab.) and MA (Dubl.). The
Universities of Cambridge and Dublin also offer an MA to certain
senior staff - both academic and non-academic - after a number of
years' employment with the university.

Terrific concert. I think he played a few songs longer than he had planned on, and was, as he always is, extremely gracious and generous with his time, stories, etc.

For those who missed it, he'll be answering questions again tomorrow at 9:30am.

There's a difference between being marketable and being a hot

Ah. "Wear Your Love Like Heaven" at the end. One of the best songs on
that alblum, and of all time.

His voice is still good, but hearing him close up live every year in
the late 60s-early 70's -- his voice of that era, his youth, could
make every cell in your body, and your whole soul, resonate. It was
like warm, cosmic melted ghee.

Can you imagine a concert / telecast / podcast / DVD on Love, Peace
and Consciousness -- with Donovan, Paul McCartney, Mike Love, Joni
Mitchell, -- possibly Robbie Krieger and other remaining Doors, etc.
-- With lynch and Heather Graham as MCs.

It might be a spark that sets things blazing a bit.

At a minimum it would be a killer PBS fundraising show. haha.

Very involved. Always has been. Ever hear of the telephone? Email? Even more
involved when he visits. Really tears things up. Many of the faculty dread

They have a track record of achievement. Or don't. Forexample, they
oversaw a successful string of acquisitions, under their tenure the
customer base doubled, sales increased 50%, earnings grew at 25% a
year,etc.

Carly Fiorina was marketable when she took over at HP because of her
prior track record of achievements. When she was ousted for lackluster
performance, no one was knocking at her door. Off to the lecture curcuit.

Kohlberg's last bit of writing was published in the bookthat Skip
Alexander edited: _Higher Stages of Human Development_. Kohlberg
discusses a proposed new stage higher than anything he wrote about
previously. Skip was co-editor with his Harvard thesis advisor, Ellen
Langer, and helped contribute the chapter on Vedic Psychology. I'm
sure you would find it incomplete and ill-informed, however.

He had power because he followed orders. Maharishi would have canned him
long ago if he hadn't been able to trust him to follow his orders to a tee.
He has checked every little thing with MMY all these years. He's a chip off
the old block. The Movement is what it is today because of both of them.

Being in construction for many years. I would agree that
warehouse forktruck operating is probably not rocket science. However,
seeing the big ones moving overweight machinery(one of which pieces
would overload a semi), and seeing oversized loads put into, or
removed from impossibly tight places, you get the feeling of watching
a surgeon- and these guys are usually unimpressed with themselves. N.

[FairfieldLife] Re: Does a million $ buy loyalty?

2006-03-25 Thread anonyff
Although personally (except for maybe 30 years ago when he just seemed
like an overworked nice guy) I am not fond of Bevan, an astute
recruiter would find these facts out about Bevan and be able to place
him according to these facst, all fo which are true.

1)
He has helped run, if not being nearly totally in charge-Executive
Management--of a global organization with 100+ national leaders (or
however many there are) then state/time-zone/regional directors and
teachers at local levels (what would this amount to-having 20-30,000
people under you). And he has done this for nearly 30 years.

2)
Been president of a university with all the responsibilities that go
along with it.

3)
Organized, orchestrated, hosted International and National Conferences
all over the world, many of which have been attended by the top
thinkers of our time in nearly all areas of concern.

4)
Made umpteen decisions, most of which we probably know absolutely
nothing about, that affected the *bottom line*-probably decisions
totalling in the billions of dollars.

These are no small things and someone who deals with the upper upper
echelon of people in the corporate world would be amazed to see the
accomplishments of this person called Bevan who so many here like to
put down for various reasons. I don't like him and his way of doing
things, but I stand in awe of just how capable he is and for how many
years he has constently functioned at this level.

I gather that MUM staff and faculty are divided between those who admire him for his intelligence and eloquence, and those who loathe him for his heavy-handed managerial style. Both factions fear him, because he’ll fire you in a heartbeat if he feels you might be disloyal, too independent, etc.

Would you say that private college was successful? I mean could it have lasted as long as it has without a world wide movement backing it every year pouring tons of money into it.

And sucking tons out of it.

Do you think Bevan could go on to preside over another college, maybe a step upwards, like a state run university? By the way, what are Bevan's degrees in?

He has a degree in philosophy from Cambridge. I think he was top in his class. I don’t know whether that is a BA or an MA. His Ph.D. Is from MMY.

Based upon what I know about Bevan which I admit is very little, I picture the man in some lower to middle management position with some large company. Maybe like in charge of human resources, i.e. personnel dept. Not a bad place to be!

Don’t you have to be good with people to be in HR?

He has a brilliant mind and is an articulate public speaker, if you like his style. But he has a reputation for being a fear-based manager, and for firing people who express any tendency to think independently. Perhaps he thinks he’s “in tune with Maharishi’s thinking” in that respect.

What concerned me, in discussion of the Vedic studies program, is
that what they are saying is simply not true. Much of what they are
describing is simply NOT "Vedic"--a word very loosely bandied about--
or is simply insupportable. Now if any of these poor people enter the
Vedic study program and move on to other institutions they're going
to be in for a shock, because they are going to find out they've been
fed a bunch of lies. It's like doctor Pete has described where they
cut-and-pasted lectures of visiting scholars *so much* that it
reverses the message the person was conveying. Imagine a curriculum
based on that type of environment and that is what I expect these
poor kids will get--peppered with a lot of quantum bullshit. Very
slick presentation though!

I remember when institutions of "higher learning" actually tried to
teach the truth.

Check out the click I posted a link to on the "meditation can stop
starvation" post. Unless your leading edge of thinkers are at stage 5

...you are prone to starvation and something "less" than a democracy.
Capitalism would seem capable of occurring at any of the lower stages
of moral development, as it's about ego: I, Me, Mine. But it will not
serve the greater good. But then I know very little about politics...

Thoughts?

[FairfieldLife] Lynch Day

2006-03-25 Thread a_non_moose_ff
I didn't see the whole thing, but a fair amount. Overall it looked
great. A wonderful intro lecture.

I didn't hear any of the 1000 smart, internet savy student attendees,
who did btw mention reseraching TM before coming, mention anything
about kings, crowns or damn dmocracy. Those that hold this will kill
any new student participation apparently aren't watch videos like today.

btw, Bobby Roth is a walking advertisment. He looks the same as 30
years ago.

Lifestyle and, time takes quite a toll- time being the larger

[FairfieldLife] March 24 letter of resignation from Diksha by Freddie Neilsen - One of the head honchos of Kalki

2006-03-25 Thread Rick Archer
Title: March 24 letter of resignation from Diksha  by Freddie Neilsen - One of the head honchos of Kalki

Rob & Rick,

This was just posted on the Kalki and Diksha http://www.livinginjoy.com/en/news/2579 web site written last night March 24 from the guy who runs the website and is (or rather was)  apparently one of Bhagavan Kalkis right-hand men named Freddy Nielsen. He was sent to the US a year or so ago to spread ‘Oneness’ through diksha and now is having a falling out with the whole movement!
‘
I’ve copied the whole letter below as well as posted the link above as the link might not stay up there too long, although it seems the author happens to be the guy who actually runs the web site for Kalki and Amma, so they might be in a bit of a pickle as far as getting it removed quickly goes. J

Sounds like this fellow had a run-in with the inevitable hierarchy of such movements and perhaps his role of prominence in the group was being threatened by other fast-climbers up the ‘spiritual corporate ladder’.

You can see in this letter that he is still enthralled by his idealized projections about Kalki and Amma, and at this point it’s just the organization that has let him down, which is usually the first crumbling step in the whole hypnotic apparatus falling down.

Who knows, perhaps in the ashes of his disappointment a more intimate and vital re-discovery of what has always ever been the case will arise. Then again, perhaps not, and yet another dreamscape to chase will emerge  … and so it goes on.

Another case of the dream of becoming biting the dust, the fate of all such mesmerizing trances that promise attainment by the ‘me’ of that which is all there is … nothing appearing as everything … in and as timeless being!

Cheers
Shannon

“Namaste to all!!!

I hope you all are feeling the ever present presence of God (even better is living or even drowning in it).

For 15 years I have been on this Oneness Path, and it has been an amazing time. Yesterday was my 39th birthday,  that my angelic beloved divine Madeleine and I spent in New York.

When Bhagavan asked me (13 years ago) to become a teacher and one of the leaders in this movement (I was even made Acharya), I refused, telling I was the wrong person.

I never ever wished to have big courses or be some kind of a leader. I have seen so many beautiful teachings fall from the heart into the mind when it grew bigger and became more institutionalized.

I always preferred death than to become lifeless and stop listening to my heart. I always had to ONLY follow my heart completely. That was my "religion" and path, the path of the heart.

I never thought I was going to meet with success in my courses.

My tremendous gratitude to Amma and Bhagavan made me go against my thoughts that I should not become a teacher, and I went on travelling the world and spread about their Grace for 13 years without breaks. Another reason I continued was that I saw I was needed, people seemed to love it, so many came to the courses etc.

I was so happy that the purity and childlike innocent joy was kept in this Movement, for these energies are the only ones I can possibly work with. I sometimes wondered if this Movement was going to be the first flawless in history. My hope in this was kept alive for many many years.

I have always felt nauseated by fanaticism and unauthentic, false & non-genuine things.

So here I am, after 1,5 decades of constant working for Oneness University (in fact I always felt I worked for Amma and Bhagavan only, not for an institution, Movement etc.).

In January 2006, a person that I deeply respect, I even feel she is one of the purest and wisest one can imagine, told me she felt much has become cold and more like an impersonal institution in Golden City. She has been to GC a number of times and always been in love with it all. In Jan. she was shocked to see the sudden contrast. This was exactly what I had started to feel since some time.

My heart began to really doubt my being an active part in this Movement, for the first time in 15 years.

I can only recommend and spread something that I believe in on all levels and with 100% of my being. I am a 0% or 100% person. What I love and am passionate about, I am prepared to live and die for. If I feel that the heart is dying and mind takes over in what I support, I'll always drop it like a hot potato.

I always believed in Bhagavan and that He has the power to give Oneness to mankind. But the more and more structurized team of people around him makes it impossible for my heart to survive in an ever growing cold and boring atmosphere. I always knew I was going to be a follower and admirer of Bhagavan, but to be part of an organisation is an entirely different thing. I knew A&B were true and genuine, but organisations are often not.

My heart repeatedly asked me to go fo
