With reference to my earlier post, this response from Share falls
under the heading of "whether it even makes any sense to go there in
the first place." Of course she isn't going to agree with my opinions
of her, and of course I'm entitled to them anyway. Was anyone in any
doubt about this, or was it an utterly useless remark on her part?

South facing door brings in sharp energy which disturbs positive energy field
of the house. Door here means a highly active social life. Some times it may
bring in arguments or disagreements. Again fixing two below mentioned
Hanumanji's tiles outside the door will help. It can further be protected by
using lead, cat's eye etc. But this door if it is in fourth Pada is very good
for an occupant.

so prove it - lets see the radical change - if it ain't happened in 60 years,
it ain't gonna happen - your much vaunted guru was a liar and a fraud and
that's just how it is - it doesn't mean he didn't have some positive qualities,
but elevating him to god like saint status is a mighty long stretch.

The door facing South East is said to be a door which brings in illness, anger

The Neuroscience Of Why Gratitude Makes Us Healthier
"Consider this: Negative attitudes are bad for you. And gratitude, it turns
out, makes you happier and healthier. If you invest in a way of seeing the
world that is mean and frustrated, you're going to get a world that is, well,
more mean and frustrating. But if you can find any authentic reason to give
thanks, anything that is going right with the world or your life, and put your
attention there, then statistics say you're going to be better off." This
article draws from contemporary neuroscience to make a compelling case for an
attitude of gratitude. It also offers up three simple practices we can adopt to

In addition, you should probably invoke the American Vastu method of
"avoiding the danger before it comes" proposed by Mark Twain in "Tom
Sawyer." Take a black cat (preferably dead) and swing it around your
head at midnight in a graveyard.

In addition, you should probably invoke the American Vastu

[FairfieldLife] All About Mantra and Japa

2013-10-30 Thread Richard J. Williams
Before we get started we should provide a definition of mantra.

While the term mantra is usually taken to mean phrases from the Vedas.
However, bija mantras are not mentioned in the Rig Veda. Vedic mantras
are Sanskrit words while bija mantras are 'seed sounds' with no semantic
meaning. Bija mantras are given by a guru in an initiation and are thus
empowered by the guru. Therefore, bija mantras are esoteric sound
vibrations, not words found in a Sanskrit lexicon.

'Mantras' that are listed in books or that you read on the internet are
not true bija mantras - they have no Shakti, and are thus powerless and
ineffectual - they are just nonsense gibberish to the non-intiated.
Woodroffe and Eliade both say unequivocally that the mantras have
absolutely no semantic meaning.

If you attach meaning to the bija mantra you will find yourself limited
to the conscious thinking level of awareness. In contrast, a
non-ideational mnemonic device, like an abstract bija or seed syllable
provides the ideal opportunity for transcending. Bija mantras cannot be
translated into English - that would be a contradiction in terms.

According to Swami Bharati, the definition of bija mantra does not
include it's purpose - a definition must be all-inclusive and there can
be no exceptions. A bija mantra is a morpheme or quasi morpheme, or a
phoneme, or quasi phoneme, or a series of mixed morphemes, phoneme,
qausi morphemes, or quasi phoneme, arranged in traditional patterns,
which are imparted by one guru to one chela in the course of diksha, in
which a meaningless sound is taken as a non-ideational mnemonic device.

But, you may say that these bija mantras can be found listed in books,
but the crux of the matter is that "a syllable or a collection of
syllables constituting a mantra is no mantra at all, because a mantra is
something imparted personally by a guru to a disciple. Hence OM is no
mantra at all and the statement that it is, is one by courtesy only, as
it were."

[FairfieldLife] Kalachakra Tantra: The Wheel of Time

2013-10-30 Thread Richard J. Williams
The insights of Shakya the Muni, the historical Buddha, have been
conveyed to us through the minds of and writings of persons who
interpreted the Middle Way as they understood it. It is obvious that the
practical applications of the Shakya's principle have been applied in
ways that he might not entirely approve. A teaching is given from one
level of consciousness; it is received on quite another!

The Shakya is reported to have said:

"I call to mind how when the Sakyan my father was ploughing, I sat in
the cool shade of the rose-apple tree, remote from desires and ill
conditions, and entered upon and abode in the First Musing, that is
accompanied by thought directed and sustained, which is born of
solitude, full of zestful ease. And then I said, 'Is this the Way to the
Wisdom?' And on that occasion there came to me the consciousness that
follows thought composed, 'Yes, this is the Way to the Wisdom.'" (M.N.
i.242-1)

[FairfieldLife] Sworn to Secrecy

2013-10-30 Thread Richard J. Williams
"My studies of the Goddess led me down a dark path to face the hardest,
most painful places I had hidden away. I truly had to come to the heart
of the secret, the place beyond which one could not sink any further, in
my own dark night of the soul. With no hand to lift me up, I had to find
that strength within myself. I had to find kula kundalini in my own body
and mind."

at their center, merging together under the gaze of stars and sky, and
Abhinavagupta’s pairs of ecstatic tantrikas lost in the merged inner

shufflings of pubescent girls, sworn to secrecy and shamed into silence,

[FairfieldLife] TM in the Tantras

2013-10-30 Thread Richard Williams
It would seem that the MMY got a little confused - instead of extolling the
Vedas, he should have been promoting the Tantras. Apparently there are no
'bija' mantras mentioned in the Rig Veda. In order to establish the TM
practice, the MMY should have been explaining how TM came to use the bija
mantras.

>From what I've read, TM practice and the use of bijas comes from the
tradition Sri Vidya, and not from the Rig Veda. The Sri Vidya is a tantric
sect, purportedly founded by Shankaracharya. Swami Brahmananda Saraswati
was a member of the Sri Vidya - all the Saraswati sannyasins are
headquartered at the Sringeri matha.

Swami Krishnanda Saraswati:

SBS's guru, Swami Krishanand Saraswati, was from Sringeri. The primary
symbol of the Sri Vidya is the Shri Yantra with the TM bijas inscribed
thereon. There are fifteen bija mantras listed in the Soundarylahari, some
of them are TM bija mantras, according to James Duffy. But, there are in
fact sixteen bijas listed in the Sounda, the last one used for advanced
practice.

So, it's obvious that TM adherents should be looking to the Tantras, such
as the 'Saundaryalahari' for the origins of TM, not the to the Vedas. The
Rig Veda has little to say about yoga practices such as 'TM'. The Rig Veda
is based on sacrificial rituals, dedicated to appeasing the celestial
beings that control the forces of nature, such as earth, wind and fire,
etc.

The demi-gods, such as Krishna, Vasudeva, Balarama, and Ramchandra are
deified heros of Indian mythology. There are no 'istadevatas' and their
'bija mantras' mentioned in the Rig Veda.

The use of bijas came a long time after the composition of the Rig Veda,
during the Gupta Age in India. Bija mantras are products of the Indian
alchemists, not the Vedic rishis. The Rig Veda was probably compiled before
the Aryan speakers even arrived in India. TM practice is almost pure tantra
practice, with a little fertilizer thrown in for good measure.

Re: [FairfieldLife] TM in the Tantras

2013-10-30 Thread Bhairitu
You should probably stick to "cutting the cable" posts. There you have
some actual experience and knowledge. Tantra is beyond your pay grade. :-D

Speaking of "cable cutting" except for CBS you can get most broadcast
shows on Hulu. And CBS (as with most of the networks) posts episodes on
the CBS website the day after showing on air. I played with different
ways of watching those on my big screen. HDMI out on my Acer desktop
lacks audio even though I have it set to HDMI audio. Seems it is a
problem for some users bit I will probably use either my Acer tablet
which has an HDMI port out or the NVidia Shield which has one too. Most
of the networks put out a low grade HD stream when you expand to full
screen.

Difference between Hulu+ and network websites. The latter have more
commercials though still just a few minutes overall compared to OTA.
Hulu+ has often only one 15 second commercial during a break and most
are just PSAs.

For the Netflixers looking for a dark comedy horror film for Halloween
may I recommend "Night of the Living Dead: Re-Animation". This is
indeed a sequel to the "Re-Animator" films including Jeffery Combs
playing a role. There is even some funny political satire liberals will
love in the film (can we say "Sister Sarah").

So, it's obvious that TM adherents should be looking to the Tantras,
such as the 'Saundaryalahari' for the origins of TM, not the to the
Vedas. The Rig Veda has little to say about yoga practices such as
'TM'. The Rig Veda is based on sacrificial rituals, dedicated to
appeasing the celestial beings that control the forces of nature, such
as earth, wind and fire, etc.

The demi-gods, such as Krishna, Vasudeva, Balarama, and Ramchandra are
deified heros of Indian mythology. There are no 'istadevatas' and
their 'bija mantras' mentioned in the Rig Veda.

The use of bijas came a long time after the composition of the Rig
Veda, during the Gupta Age in India. Bija mantras are products of the
Indian alchemists, not the Vedic rishis. The Rig Veda was probably
compiled before the Aryan speakers even arrived in India. TM practice
is almost pure tantra practice, with a little fertilizer thrown in for
good measure.

[FairfieldLife] Stairway To Heaven

2013-10-30 Thread TurquoiseB
OK, I'll admit it. I'm an old fart. :-)

So much so that Led Zeppelin were pretty much off my radar.
I'd done the hippie music thang earlier, and by the time they
showed up, I'd "moved on," to the more "spiritual" world
represented by Maharishi.

I can honestly state that I have never listened to a single Led
Zeppelin album all the way through. My loss. In more recent
years, I've heard things by them, and by cover artists doing
their work, that make me believe that I might have missed
something. But, as Vonnegut said, "So it goes."

That said, I *did* hear a number of their songs on the radio,
or in the background of parties that I attended, even though
as a TM Teacher I was far too evolved for them. :-)

So I thought this tribute to them was pretty cool. All old men
should be honored for their accomplishments like this. At
least once.

But only once.

For example, it's way cool that Obama was there. But ya have
to weigh that against all the times when he wasn't "there."

Speaking of "cable cutting" except for CBS you can get most broadcast

on the CBS website the day after showing on air. I played with

Seems it is a problem for some users bit I will probably use either

So, it's obvious that TM adherents should be looking to the Tantras,

'TM'. The Rig Veda is based on sacrificial rituals, dedicated to
appeasing the celestial beings that control the forces of nature,

The use of bijas came a long time after the composition of the Rig
Veda, during the Gupta Age in India. Bija mantras are products of
the Indian alchemists, not the Vedic rishis. The Rig Veda was
probably compiled before the Aryan speakers even arrived in India.
TM practice is almost pure tantra practice, with a little fertilizer
thrown in for good measure.

[FairfieldLife] Re: Kalachakra Tantra: The Wheel of Time

2013-10-30 Thread Richard J. Williams
The term Kalachakra means 'time wheel' in Sanskrit.

The only texts that Shankara could have read on palm leaves would have
been the Buddhist sutras, which support the momentary theory. In fact,
before the invention of writing, all the tantric practices were esoteric.

So Shankara would hardly have known anything about 'Esoteric Buddhism'.
That is, unless Gaudapapda, Govindapada, and Shankara were in fact,
Tantric Buddhists themselves! Not only did the Hindu Tantrics turn the
feminine/male iconography topsy-turvy, they didn't even realize that
they were in fact Buddhists. Bhattachary gives an example of how mixed
up the Tantric Hindus apparently were.

One of the chief tantric texts of the Hindus is the 'Mahanirvana' Tantra
(Bhattacharyya pg. 79). The use of the term 'nirvana' indicates that
this tantra may have been used by the Buddhist tantrics (Bhattacharyya
pg. 84). Shankara called the Buddhists 'annihilationists'. But, the term
'nirvana' doesn't mean 'annihilation' - nirvana means 'devoid of own
being', just like the Brahman absolute of Shankara (Murti pg. 152). Go
figure.

textures needed to build a more faithful, CG Hepburn. Upon the completion of
live shooting along the Amalfi Coast, the team further refined the actress'
face, smoothing out transitions and expressions for animation. They also built
a 3D model of the iconic actress, using footage from her film catalogue as well
as old images and documentaries. Check it out. It's magic:

Re: [FairfieldLife] RE: TM in the Tantras

2013-10-30 Thread Richard J. Williams
You are incorrect - I've been teaching people how to meditate for forty
years. I learned Zen meditation under Shunryo Suzulki. And, I've studied
with three Tantra teachers. TM is just for beginners. In fact, I was one
of the first Americans to practice Tantra under Tarthang Tulku back in 1967.

Speaking of "cable cutting" except for CBS you can get most
broadcast shows on Hulu. And CBS (as with most of the networks)
posts episodes on the CBS website the day after showing on air.
I played with different ways of watching those on my big screen.
HDMI out on my Acer desktop lacks audio even though I have it set
to HDMI audio. Seems it is a problem for some users bit I will
probably use either my Acer tablet which has an HDMI port out or
the NVidia Shield which has one too. Most of the networks put out
a low grade HD stream when you expand to full screen.

Difference between Hulu+ and network websites. The latter have
more commercials though still just a few minutes overall compared
to OTA. Hulu+ has often only one 15 second commercial during a
break and most are just PSAs.

For the Netflixers looking for a dark comedy horror film for
Halloween may I recommend "Night of the Living Dead:
Re-Animation". This is indeed a sequel to the "Re-Animator" films
including Jeffery Combs playing a role. There is even some funny
political satire liberals will love in the film (can we say "Sister
Sarah").

So, it's obvious that TM adherents should be looking to the
Tantras, such as the 'Saundaryalahari' for the origins of TM, not
the to the Vedas. The Rig Veda has little to say about yoga
practices such as 'TM'. The Rig Veda is based on sacrificial
rituals, dedicated to appeasing the celestial beings that control
the forces of nature, such as earth, wind and fire, etc.

The demi-gods, such as Krishna, Vasudeva, Balarama, and Ramchandra
are deified heros of Indian mythology. There are no 'istadevatas'
and their 'bija mantras' mentioned in the Rig Veda.

The use of bijas came a long time after the composition of the Rig
Veda, during the Gupta Age in India. Bija mantras are products of
the Indian alchemists, not the Vedic rishis. The Rig Veda was
probably compiled before the Aryan speakers even arrived in India.
TM practice is almost pure tantra practice, with a little
fertilizer thrown in for good measure.
