RWC - Robin Woodsworth Carlsen - inspired me to look into this. His beliefs were that: a. The Holy Spirit if largely absent from modern Christianity b. and this dates from the bombing of the Monte Casino Monastery in 1944 I believe that both premises are wrong. Modern Pentacostal Christianity can be traced in its origin to the Azuza Street Revival, downtown L.A, 1906. The post WWII Evangelical Movement can likewise be dated to Billy Graham's tent revival in 1949, also in downtown L.A. These modern movements are still going strong and are gaining millions of followers in places like S. America and China. [FairfieldLife] What is your guNa-vRtti-virodha?
Taimni takes guNa-vRtti-virodha in YS II 15 thusly: Guna-vritti-virodha: This refers to the conflict between the dominant guna (sattva, rajas or tamas) and the state of the mind at any given time. A person with a dominant tamasik guna, who wants to rest all the time, may be forced to work hard to support himself and family. This causes conflict and results in mental suffering. The wise man learns to renounce desires to eliminate conflict. One of mine is the fact that I love practicing drumming, but, mainly perhaps due to extremely volatile(?) blood pressure, get tinnitus extremely easily and can't stand loud voices! LOL! [FairfieldLife] Re: Suicide Bombing- Ultimate Act of Self-destruction of a Failed god
Ollie, The Pope did say the first sentence in my post. However, the rest of the sentences are my own opinion and embellishment of what he said. MMY would say that most human beings are asleep and not aware of their actions here on earth. That's why most people are not enlightened and remain in darkness, such as committing acts of mayhem in the form of suicide bombings. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, wrote : Very big of him - next question to the Pope - When was the last time the Vatican was attacked, bombed and strafed with gunfire, resulting in families and children killed? No one is justifying violence to meet violence, but the Pope sounds very detached, and more interested in furthering his marketing goals. ---In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, wrote : As the Pope stated, these so-called jihadists are not doing their heinous acts in the name of Allah. They're actually committing acts of destruction in the name of their own earthly power here on earth. If they can't have their way, the ultimate end is through destruction of themselves and others who oppose their will. In a worldly view, this is insanity. In spiritual terms, this is an act of self-conceit and last farewell of a failed god. IMO, we can see this act of defiance in the story of Man's loss of Paradise in the Garden of Eden, as narrated in the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament. This trait was inherited from the first humans in the Garden of Eden-- Adam and Eve.
[FairfieldLife] Re: Suicide Bombing- Ultimate Act of Self-destruction of a Failed god
Very big of him - next question to the Pope - When was the last time the Vatican was attacked, bombed and strafed with gunfire, resulting in families and children killed?
